He's such an obvious signing if we can get him for like 10-12 m. Didn't look out of place in any position he played at the WC, and we're not in the CL, these are exactly the kind of players that are going to be okay with moving to us to play back up roles

According to La Gazzetta we are ready to offer €22m

Van Gaal punta Blind. Lo United offre 22 milioni

I Red Devils tentano l'assalto al difensore dell'Ajax che l'olandese ha allenato anche al Mondiale. Piste De Vrij e Vermaelen

21 LUGLIO 2014 - MILANO

In vacanza a Barcellona.

I liked what I saw at the World Cup, although I'll admit I've not seen him at all for Ajax (Except perhaps in the odd CL game where he may have happened to be on). Would be a pretty good signing for cover and squad rotation, would say £15m would be towards the upper end of a fair enough price in today's market.

Very reserved about the signing of this man. Big chance he's just a wc sensation who will be liked by the fans until he gets found out. We've seen it a couple of times before. The squad player talking is ridiculous. Why would we spend that money on a squad player??? We could might as well use the players we have. Who is happy with buying squad players?? Fellaini, Buttner, Young, Nani, Cleverly, Kagawa Do We Need More Of Them??

In todays market, the price being asked for Blind is worth it. He is a dutch international, POTY at Ajax, where he is also a regular, is a versatile player and still very young.

If it doesn't have an effect on any other signings id be happy with Blind.

Shaw, Herrera, Vidal (possibly), De Vrij and Blind would make a awesome transfer window.

I was thinking about some world class players but if LVG rate Blind as a perfect addition to the new system then fine.

Underwhelming but sufficient I guess.

Our options in midfield, centre-back and left-back are limited, he would make a lot of sense to sign.

No he is not.

24 is still pretty young, many players aren't fully established by that age. Evra and Vidic were both 24 when they joined us and he (Blind) is also younger than Smalling and Herrera now. Think he could be a decent buy, but admittedly haven't seen much of him outside of WC showing.

Are those that want him mostly keen because he can play two positions? It seems to me we should be thinking about Shaw as playing most of our games therefore his back up should come from the youth team, and as a DM has anyone actually watched him regularly enough at Ajax to weigh in on how he'd cope in that role in a much faster rand more physical league like the PL?

hes a good DM, thats the position he played in at Ajax last season and won POTY whereas the season before he played the majority of his games at LB.

22 million euro is ridiculous. How much did Suarez go for..30? You'd have to be insane to pay that much. Unless there's a bidding war and half of Europe want this guy. Any info on other teams wanting this guy?

Glad to see someone commenting on him that has actually watched him play regular as a DM, too much back up LB talk. I'm far from sold on him being good enough for us but we'll see I guess.

I'd happily pay it. He'll play plenty games as back up to Shaw and (possible successor to) Carrick.

Barça has signed a centre half. They're probably ok in his,ing midfield, so unless they want his as a left back, United could probably sign him easily enough if they want him.

Think we could get him for far cheaper than that sort of cash. But Woodward shouting about how much money we have is not gonna help this. Although Dutch clubs cant afford to hold teams to ransom too much.

Think he'll be in our squad by end of the summer - personally think he's our most likely signing.

A lot of talk of him joining in the last few days. Would be a very logical signing imo. Would offer depth at lwb, cb, and the defensive cm slot. Reported price of £17m seems excessive though. Would be a good buy at £13/14m though. I've heard the Ajax manager said they were going to sell him. Can anyone confirm this?

Would be an interesting signing. I don't think he'd be brought in with one specific position in mind.

Don't really know where we would play him. Would certainly not improve our current selection. Squad addition at best.

Defensive midfield. Probably better than Cleverley, Fletcher and Fellaini.

Rather we went for players that'd actually improve us than squad fillers, we have enough.

we have 3 first team centre backs and 1 left back, we need defensive fillers. These utility players are great, he can play basically anywhere in our formations bar the front 3 and in the sticks

He can play centre back/right back the same way Valencia can play right back. He's not good there.

While it is good to have utility players in the squad, our main priority should be actually improving it. We have players in the U21's who can cover wing back & centre half. Not to mention Young who's certainly played his way back into contention so you'd expect him to be the extra option aside from Shaw.
