Solid, tidy, versatile player who allows for tactically flexibility within games. Wouldn't be a difference maker but squad players like him have made significant contributions to our success in the past.

He's the kind of footballer I would call a „squad player”. He would be an excellent Cleverley replacement, not very good at anything but much more reliable.
He'd be the new O'Shea, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
As long as he was bought as a back up utility player, he isn't good enough to start in any one position at the moment. Not to say that can't change, he's still young.
I would have nothing against getting him and Georginio Wijnaldum this summer.. Wijnaldum is having a great tournament..

Because he's been pointless. Too many touches, slows down Dutch moves, then finds a pass even De Jong could have made.
LVG obviously likes him for some reason hence he gets starts, but he's definitely not had a good world cup. He hasnt done anything Cleverley couldnt have.

Closes spaces and a great ball winner, had very good distrubution.. Not sure what Ekeke got stuck up his a-hole...
Wijnaldum was far too slow on the ball and didn't get it to Robben or van Persie near enough. His distribution is pretty subpar, there was nothing special about it at all.

He's not a great player or anything but he would make a lot of sense for us if Evra leaves. He could be backup to Shaw, could play at CB and also in midfield.
I think he would make a very good utility players for us, if van Gaal decided to bring him here.

I guess he's receiving the stick because of his past with the scousers but he actually is a very industrial and a decent player as long as he's not deployed at the top. Apart from his looks I think he's quite okay. He certainly has had quite a few good games.
good replacement for Büttner as back-up but no starter. Could also cover in CM.
Think we should go for him, he'll be cheap and can cover LB, CB and midfield.
Because if Evra leaves we have a specific requirement for a player who'll cover left back, won't cost the earth and could also cover a few other positions.
If he's cheap - why not. But he's not a starter. Too slow, too average.
he's the exact kind of player we need. Can play RB if Rafael gets injured, can play LB behind Shaw, can play DM if needed. Because of his utility style, he would still get lots of games in and we would not have to worry about playing peple out of position (ie. Smalling at RB, Evans at LB or Jones in midfield.)
He was awful last night. I would take him as a squad player like a back up for Shaw but that's about it.

As a backup for several positions (LB, CB and DMF) he may be worth it (especially considering that he'll cost under 10m). With Evra leaving, we need someone to cover for LB position when Shaw is injured/rested. Rodriguez is excellent (and easily better than Shaw currently) but he'll cost a lot and neither him, nor Shaw would be happy to stay on bench for most of the time. Blind on the other hand - most likely - will be content with his role as a squad player.

Not necessarily a bad thing. Did a superb job for us for several seasons whebever he was called upon.

We are kind of missing a few players like he and Park in recent seasons. Great lads the two of them and were key to our sucess over the years.

Wijnaldum? Great ball winner? He made 5 tackles in 6 games and 0 interceptions
Sneijder made 4 tackles in 6 games, also making a couple of interceptions. He must be a great ball winner too
His distribution was a bit better than Nigel De Jong. Thats about it.
I cant believe you took me seriously... It was more ment as a joke to all the players we have been on the way to sign since the Wc started.. Blind,Janmaat,De Vrij ect ect. We bought Poborsky based on one tournament that didnt go all that well..

Wijnaldum was there because of a lack of talent. If Strootman was fit Winaldum would not have played. The alternatives Clasie, de Guzmaan were not good enough. Maher had a poor season at PSV and Vilhena was considered too inexperienced. The most other obvious choice was van Ginkel but he missed nearly the whole season at Chelsea. Wijnaldum was a sensation when he was 15 /16 but has stood still since then. He is also an attacking midfileder but was forced to be more box to box to accomodate Sneider and de Jong

What we need here atm is top quality not more squad players. Should we sign the whole Costa Rican national team just because they had a great Wc? We can use academy players as squad players if needed but we need to add more quality to our first team, that should be a priority..
