Not fat gutted. Hirsuteness of shoulders TBD.
That's a myth. Homeless people commit about as much crime as homed people.
It's not a myth that they bring down an area if there's loads of them.

Most people do prefer him in the stand. For some reason I've always preferred him in the DTHmm - I loved him in The Stand and Eyes of the Dragon. He was nicely written in the early DT books (up to book 4), but from 5 onwards, I thought he was shocking. EspeciallyMordred bit and how he was killed off so easily. And the fact that he flitted in and out of the story without really doing anything significant (in the latter books). Overall, I was let down. The DT series was amazing from books 1-4, but 5-7 I noticed a HUGE drop in quality.
That's just not true. My phone is not letting me cut and paste but google 'crime among homeless' and read the guardian article that comes up. Says 28pc have committed imprisonable offences and a lot of women have had unwanted sexThat's a myth. Homeless people commit about as much crime as homed people.
Yea I also read it in one go. Were you happy from Wolves of the Calla onwards? I thought it went downhill from that book on. And the Crimson King was such an anticlimax. I was bitterly disappointed by that. Most people do prefer him in the stand. For some reason I've always preferred him in the DT
I loved the whole series and again I know a lot felt it went a bit shit. I was late getting into it and read books 1-7 in one go.
Anyways that's me out of this thread
The Daily Mail is one of Britain's most popular newspapers, and it pushes a populist right wing agenda designed to appeal to the British middle class. The paper is known not only for taking a hostile view of immigration, but also gleefully trolling its critics. Soon after the article about Kos came out, the Daily Mail reported on migrants in Paris who were reported to have claimed the city was too noisy and polluted.
Even so, perhaps the real reason that the Daily Mail article has riled up so many is because many suspect it speaks for the silent majority in Britain: The British government was one of the first to disavow saving migrants in the Mediterranean, warning that search-and-rescue missions would create a "pull factor" for migrants, even if it meant many could die.
Don't be so dramatic. Randall's right. I'm sure he has compassion for their plight but can still be pissed off at having them affect the quality of his holiday. Just as I'd be fecked off if I went somewhere and saw Randall at the bar.
Grammar jibes yay
I never said I was disgusted by their existence, I would be disgusted if I found myself forking out for a holiday only to have it ruined. It would be an awful shame
To be fair, yeah, I shouldn't really have reduced it to grammar jibes. However, I realise I was attempting to elicit some kind of empathetic thinking from someone who can't figure out how full stops work, so maybe I was expecting too much. I'm glad to see most posters on here share my feelings and values.
Ugh
Well I'm delighted to see your excellent use of grammar has gotten you so far in life that you cannot even afford a holiday each year.
And I can

Well if someone is going to bring down a discussion to a certain level I have no problem joining them. Otherwise I wouldn't dream of making such a comment

It'd be nice to be able to afford it, but I realise I am in a pretty good situation in life compared to the majority of the 7bn other people in the world. I'd not get all pissy about the fact there are people less well off, as you have done about both fleeing refugees and myself. You must be a great guy, well done.
What's your main job, out of interest? The one requiring writing skills. As it is, my ability to use full stops and commas is one of the things which has given me a little bit of job security. The one guaranteed form of income I have is from a job where I have to write to a good standard. The other three are zero hour contracts. That means if I take a holiday, it basically costs me twice as much, as I am not able to earn money during the time that I am away. My situation is not unusual, there are many people doing exactly the same. I am glad you find mine and their financial situation so amusing, just as you find the presence of the real lives of third world refugees interfering with more fortunate people's holidays so abhorrent.
It got derailed somewhat after Randall espoused a DM opinion. What the feck is happening in this thread
No. Not really.I'm sure many folk would agree with Randall's take. People who are wealthy enough to take nice holidays generally would prefer to be as oblivious as possible to the poverty nearby. Holidays, for a lot, are to a large degree about a brief escape from the reality of their lives and seeing other folk struggling for their life is not what they have in mind when they book.
That said, anyone who has the gall to complain publicly about the fact their affluent existence was inhibited by people struggling to stay alive is likely severely lacking in both empathy and societal understanding.

Yeah, they would. Not here, mind - we're nice.No. Not really.
A lot of people may feel one way but shouldnt dare speak about it publicaly. Read anything about fascism lately?
The people complaining in the article were on cheap package holidays in Kos, hardly a safari or round the world cruise.I'm sure many folk would agree with Randall's take. No - but next to penniless migrants it's another world. The people complaining in the article were on cheap package holidays in Kos, hardly a safari or round the world cruise.
I wasn't alive in the eighties :PI think DOTA is stuck in the 80's, pretty much anyone with a full time job can afford a holiday these days
Of course, but the notion that people have to be 'wealthy' to go on holiday is just wrong. You can holiday on a shoe-string.No - but next to penniless migrants it's another world.

I'm not defending the article, just saying package holidays to Kos are not the sole preserve of the super-wealthy.You can do it for very cheap if you're in a position to put down money months in advance and take time off work. Unfortunately some aren't in that position, for a variety of reasons out of their control. In any case the DM article is horrible.
You do not have to be what most people would refer to as 'affluent' by British standards and I'll give you that my post does read a bit like that.I'm not defending the article, just saying package holidays to Kos are not the sole preserve of the super-wealthy.
That's the sort of thing I expect to see in the Guardian. 'The patriarchy caused my knicker elastic to perish in a wine bar'.
