Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

Is this actually the difference between next gen console and pc graphics? Get me off the old gen version asap

Feel sorry for the goombas playing this on an OG PS4/XBone.

Really starting to warm up to this bugs/glitches aside. Female V voice actor has a lot to do with.

Just started Act II and im still overwhelmed by the map and all those silly markers.

Oh and who thought it would be good to map the crouch and dodge button to the same input?

Everyone at work went from super excited last week to now trying to find enough reasons to say they haven’t wasted their money.

Still optimistic that they’ll do a No Man’s Sky fix though

I plan on getting a PS5 and this in about a year. With the quality of previous DLC for the Witcher, I think it will be excellent in a years time

Apparently I’m in the minority who is just playing and enjoying it. Haven’t had any crashes so far, encountered the odd minor bug but that’s about it. Playing on a reasonably PC although only a 1070 GPU.

I feel like it’s people like me who didn’t invest massive amounts of time into the hype, and so went in without the enormous expectation that some folks seem to have. I’ve been enjoying roaming the city, doing random side jobs and gigs and just generally exploring - usually rewarded with some little item crate hidden in a rooftop.

If I’m honest, I am inclined to laugh at those who are massively complaining about the game, saying it’s a flop, that CDPR were a one-hit wonder etc. Cyberpunk has already broken a few records and I am feeling like it’s a vocal minority who are complaining - the rest (like me) are too busy actually playing!

Can’t speak for the console experience but I can see how old gen consoles would struggle. The game is huge and no loading screens. I certainly wouldn’t be wanting to get it on my PS4.

It’s clearly not another No Mans Sky I think it’s far and way the best game made this year. Ghost of Tsushima was a game of the year contender and was awful in comparison to this.

Does anyone else agree that V’s male voice actor is really really not good. It sounds like an English actor trying to do a really affected American accent.

I’m similar to you. No major issues, plenty of flaws, but enjoying it more and more as I play. Deffo want that big console update though. I could definitely enjoy it more if it was making me ooo and ahh at the shiny things.

If they can get rid of some of the random graphical bugs that happen (honestly not that many on my pc and none were anywhere near "game breaking") then I can definitely see this being on Witcher 3's level (again, judging this on PC).
I think the start is a bit slow, but once it opens up, the attention to detail, the thought put into it, and the story as a whole are really quite something.

Yeh I would agree not a fan. I think that will impact the replay ability too. I may try the female V on next run just to have a different sound.

Yeh nail on the head. For me the game only grabbed me when I just put the story aside for afew hours and just explored. There’s something interesting Round every corner. I’m a big fan of the loot system too, seems like you can get some really cool weapons and armour.

I don’t mind it. Reminds me of Max Payne a bit.

On a slightly unrelated note - the sound is great in this. Not just the music or whatever, but the recording and processing of the speech etc. is very well done. It’s warm and smooth like butter.

I'm enjoying it, apparently loads of people bought a modern game on 7 year old technology and are surprised it doesn't run well *shrug*

the game was marketed for these consoles and announced years ago, and delayed over and over with promises it would work properly

of course people expect a 60 quid game to run well

Silly argument when games like Spider-Man look and play excellently on a base PS4.

There is a reason the developers did not let the reviewers review the ps4/xbone versions before the release date. And on top of that Spiderman and RDR2 run nicely on the old consoles while looking sublime.

So it's the people who paid the top buck for a game released for said consoles by the devs knowing the exact specifications at fault here, for getting unacceptable performance?

As a developer when you release any piece of software with the minimum and recommended specifications defined you are obliged to deliver an acceptable level of performance on said platforms.

Just an utterly clueless post.

I don’t think that’s how it works though. Rdr2 didn’t have these issues and looked incredible on last gen. That took just as long

Don’t shill for them.

They could have easily not released it on these consoles. But they saw the 100m plus PS4 user base and decided to release it on that. So they should release it in acceptable state for these consoles.

And no idea what you mean by modern game. Game doesn’t do anything new that’s not been done before. The AI certainly doesn’t look modern.

This whole post is hyperbole  I mean, all those people could argue in the same way that it's suckers like you who just accept the shit thrown at them that's why we keep getting fecked games.

But that would equally be as hyperbolic now wouldn't it?

In reality people are allowed to get "hyped" and excited for a major new release, that's been hyped up for years (see how that works?). They are also allowed to be disappointed in something if it's not only up to standards, but clearly not ready. And that's the crux here, good or bad as a game, it's being sold at a premium price and is clearly unfinished. Sure you may be willfully blind to the issues, or ignorant to them, or even you may have the one magic copy that is perfect! But others aren't and are just venting.

No one buys something like this to be disappointed, or wanting it to be bad. Nobody wins from that. Just like nobody wins if we just all accept everything put in front of us.

You say "clearly not ready", but for me - as someone who didnt extensively follow the game for the last 7 years (although I have seen a few trailers and devstreams etc), its a great game. As I said, I have encountered a few bugs, but no more than I would typically find on any other game that I bought on launch day. The notion that I must be somehow blinkered and kidding myself is false - im enjoying it. People like to complain, and broadly speaking, negative opinions are louder than positive ones.

Frankly, every game that I have spent years and years bigging up and hyping myself up for, has ended up being a letdown, so I try not to bother any more. Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

So that's how everyone else should see the world then? And it's purely down to the hype to you? None of us could ever go into it expected it to not be great and still are annoyed about the state of it eh? You ARE blinkered if you think that's the only reason people are speaking out, and even more so to compare it to other games that have got shit as if it's an absolute that they all get criticised for the same reason.

Just because you have fallen into the hype trap in the past and now see yourself as above all others for not, that's irrelevant to the actual issues with the game. And yes I say "clearly not ready" because that's a fact, it has nothing to do with hype. They've literally removed broken aspects they couldn't fix in time just to force it out by release, which will no doubt be back in down the line in a patch. I mean...how much more do you want?

When the company themselves wouldn’t let reviewers have a console copy you know they know it’s not ready too

This was advertised heavily at shows way before next gen consoles were released and was originally due to release in April, several months before the new consoles were released.

It’s not unreasonable to expect that the game runs on the consoles it was supposedly made for.

Exactly, and people always have a right to speak out.

Of course some take that in weird directions and way too far, but that shouldn't still detract from the fact "laughing" at people rightly annoyed by that is a ridiculous mindset to have.

I think it lies somewhere in the middle

Right there with you honestly. I'm getting a ton of enjoyment from it. There's getting excited, then there's expecting The Best Graphics Ever along with The Best Writing Ever along with The Best Setting Ever along with The Best Gameplay Ever. It seems like some were hoping for/expecting a GTA and Deus Ex mashup that outstrips every entry in those franchises at all the things those franchises are best at.

I think what bothers me the most, and this is far from exclusive to CDPR, is that more and more consumers are being treated as beta testers for games released too soon. You only ever get one first play through of a game, and when you’ve waited years and have paid top dollar for a AAA game I think people deserve a better experience. You can play again months later but it’s not the same.

I couldn't play the console version, some people enjoying a game running at 19fps its madness

Well then these "people" must surely be the most disappointed.

As it fails at all of those things, in some cases rather drastically too
