Gaming Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4/5, Xbox One)

Had to restart the Pickup mission three times before I was able to speak to Jackie in the end. Also got a bug that does not allow me to store more than one medical kit.

Got the hang of it now using the quick hacks, scanner and stealth.

the AI is Skyrim level absolutely awful you can stealth nearly everything I’ve done so far because the enemies don’t do anything.

melee combat is predictably awful, shooting and cover is so so.

The graphics and city now I’ve got it on my tv running from my pc are really good best environment for an RPG I have seen. Spent most of my time doing random quests so far not really touched the main story.

So anyone that is currently playing this, is it worth the hype that it was receiving or is it a complete let down?

I’ve still got a big backlog of games to catch up on hence not picked it up yet.
For me its got better as Ive worked my way through it, I was pretty unimpressed at first but Im now enjoying it. Im still not far enough in to have any thoughts on if its a great game yet but its not a let down thats for sure.

I'm sure the people who worked on the game are pissed because some suit coerced them into releasing this before the Xmas rush. It's an unfinished mess at present. The graphics on console verge on PS3 standard at times- indeed, they even look like GTA SA (from Ps2!) at some points. Yes, that bad. There are instability issues by the score as well. The menus are clunky as fu*k, and (old man shouting at cloud moment coming up) why can't they make the menu text bigger!!??? The Witcher had the same problem at the beginning, too.

Have said all that, I'm actually enjoying the bloody thing! There's a fantastic game in there somewhere. The music is excellent, the dialogue and story are good, and the gunplay is enjoyable enough.

Still though, I urge anyone tempted to buy this to wait until all the issues are addressed because you'll be disappointed otherwise.

We might actually hear something from Bethesda now.

I had a suspicion that they would wait until this came out before we saw anything of Starfield.

Fact is that open world games launch buggy, and CDPR got a great reputation from The Witcher 3 because most people played it after the fixes. That said, Bethesda aren't capable of the eventual polish but at least now CDPR are in the focus for bugs.

Visually it’s not there, but this isn’t a ‘next- gen’ game out and out yet. A rushed release, but what is getting my by is the story.

I’m enjoying it so far anyway. But hopefully more to come.

They have been working on it for 7 years at least!

My prediction is that they will fix the graphical stuff over the next 6 months, do a lot of epic free downloaded content, take on board the feedback regarding the main game and make some amazing paid DLC that reflects that and in the end people will forget the launch

Oh it's definitely there on PC, if you can afford a card powerful enough and with Ray tracing. I think it's the best looking game I've played. I'd be excited for the PS5 and Series X versions if I was waiting for them, hopefully by the time they're released they're well optimised.

I think if you have a high-end PC it's probably worth it. On base PS4 its a somewhat enjoyable buggy mess.

Worth noting that by all accounts it's also a buggy mess on PC but at least a visually stunning buggy mess, if you have the hardware.

This is exactly what they'll do. I'm confident they'll turn the ship around big time as they've done before. Not that it's even anywhere close to being bad aside from the crashes and bugs.

I’m playing in ps5 and starting to get some bugs really impacting my play. Enemies clipping into walls and being able to shoot me, but I can’t shoot them. Enemies fazing out of existence and killing me while invisible. A few crashes mid mission (luckily checkpoints are pretty generous).

Also going from Demons souls and Spider-Man that are next gen and utilise the ssd, I’ve become such an impatient sod. There’s a collection of really short cutscenes that occur maybe around 5 hours through and there’s a 10 second loading screen between every cutscene.

Inventory management absolutely sucks. I began rolelplaying for a tech / hacking led build but as everyone is saying you’re just easily led into putting your focus into shooting. There Doesn’t seem to be as much benefit going any other route. Side quests seem a bit empty.

However I’m actually enjoying what I’m playing because I enjoy the atmosphere, the story and the world they’ve built, BUT the world feels really empty, there’s about 5 cars around, the markets are quite empty, the clubs are all empty. For a massive future megacity with large residential skyscrapers there really aren’t many people.

Am I the only one who's glad they've gone down the first person route? I don't imagine the game being anywhere near immersive in third person. That corporate prologue intro was stunning, had a lovely Blade Runner vangelis vibe to it.

How to do you equip and throw grenades on the PS4 version?
Go into your inventory. It’s R1 I think.
——
The latest patch on PS4 made the game playable (as in, not taking 15 seconds to answer a call or read a message, not freezing for 20 seconds as you try to change the radio in your vehicle etc.) but the fundamental issues of FPS, graphics, and world density remain.

If they continue patching and plugging away, maybe we’ll see a half decent game on base console. I reckon it’ll be a few months away at the very least, though!

Fecking hell I'm an idiot, I spent like half an hour or more reloading, trying to get all 3 things hacked in that hacking mini game, not realising you don't have to do that and v3 is what you want.

Yeah I prefer first person in games like this, 3rd person just would take too much away.

Now THIS is more like it. After reinstalling to get the bloody patch, I'm getting 55-65fps in the city with high/ultra settings, full raytracing (btw those who can't see the beauty of it really do need their eyes checked), at over 1440p.

Now I might be able to jump all over the rooftops more smoothly!

Night city is just stunning.

I'm playing on a base PS4 and what would be the lowest end version of this game but the work put into this world is incredible

No, I think it's perfect for first person. I also chose that life path and was mesmerised by the intro! Blade runner is one of my all time favourite films and there's definitely a likeness there.

Just been doing all the side missions, it's addictive coming up with different ways to achieve a goal, some of the side-quest backstories are also very interesting. Mine was running fine, but since the update, the jitters when driving around seem to be gone which is great!

Anyone know how to equip blade mods? Not sussed that yet... been able to equip all other mods except blade ones!

"What’s the first thing you’re gonna do when you start exploring Night City?"

-I’ma see if I can get stuck on some geometry

Try going out to the landfill. So much shit to glitch under there

I think the game certainly gets better once the game progresses and opens up. I'm very much in love with one of the NPC's you can romance.

Well the one time I come down from the roof, I come across a man with a malfunctioning...err.."implant" :nervous:

It's a bit more like it though, complete with him begging you to run over a crossing full of kids

What's your pc specs at the moment?

Sounds dystopic to me!

Can’t wait till I get auged out to where I can do some crazy jumps and wall runs. Sounds like you’re aiming for a solo too?

I’ve yet to go there. Can’t wait :nervous:

I was able to finish that mission after restart, then went and finish a side mission to only see that my saves are not working. So I needed to restart the game again, and saw that I need to redo again the last mission.

At this stage, I am out of patience and I am asking for a refund. To be fair, in the first 2-3 hours, the game looked more like Watchdogs than Deus Ex, and while I was happy to continue playing not if I have to restart all the time. This is a joke of a release.

It is extremely buggy, avoid it like the plague and get it back in a discount if they bother to fix it.

Mine is working fine aside of a couple of graphical bugs here and there. But there's been nothing game breaking for me so far.
I also have to say the story is really starting to be quite something. The missions are all really memorable as well.

The setting, although the game's theme in general wouldn't really be my preferred theme, is just incredible. Night City is spectacular.

I had same problem on a GTX1080 (a bit faster, but), but made the following changes off a guide on Steam. I now get essentially 60fps at 1080p high/ultra*

Boot game
Set preset to Ultra
Change texture quality to medium (don't load a save or continue your game or else this option disappears)
FOV 80
Grain Off
Chromatic Off
DOF On
Lens On
Motion Off
Contact Shad On
Improved facial On
Anisotropic 16
Local mesh High
Local Shadow High
Cascaded range Medium (helped a lot)
Cascaded resolution Medium
Distant shad High
Vol fog res high
Vol cloud Medium
Max Dynamic High
Screen Space reflections Low
Subsurface scattering High
Ambient high
Color precision high
Mirror high
LOD high
All dynamic scaling off

VSync 60

I've got a 1080, any feedback on the best settings for a 1440P monitor? I really want that widescreen

Personally I love it - playing on the X.

had no glitches at all yet. My only criticism is the graphics are lacklustre.

Put 10 hours in so far

It's a bit overwhelming isn't it? About 5 hours in and still no real idea of what's going on.
