Cristiano Ronaldo

Some narrow sighted people on here...He's scored what is frankly a fantastic header, clearly shown some respect in his celebration (had a quite second half) yet people are slagging him just cause he's facing us - forget all this "I'm supporting United, feck Ronaldo" bullshit, give him some credit where its due, jeeze.

Not saying do what Marcos did, but yano...

Well done by Jones and Rafael. We essentially marked him out of being his usual self, which is saying something given that he scored and could've easily gotten a second on the FK. Not expecting that sort of success at OT. He will be up for it.

i'm so happy it was ronaldo who scored! i lubed my arse, bent over and he didnt dissapoint me, right in the brown hole

and what a man! he didnt celebrate! i so wish he fecks us again! i'm putting candles and a frank sinatra CD, champagne and garter belts! it's going to be perfect!

wankers

feck you ronaldo!

I wonder what game some of you were watching. Some of his link up play was brilliant, he was threatening off the ball, and if not for Kahn De Gea, we would have leaked several goals. Plus he scored.

If he was shit, what was Rooney?

you could have been forgiven for thinking he had been subbed at half time. In saying that he's always a huge threat and you always get the feeling he's about to turn the game. Well dealt with header aside.

Did he leap higher than Mangala (first goal below)? Actually thought of Ronaldo/Bruno Alves when this goal was scored. And take notice, this guy will probably be a World Class CB very soon.

Nah, we just played a lot more deep in the second half, restricting the space. Ronaldo and others were still active, trying to probe in.

No more so than he would have been today, tbh.

He's 6 ft 1, Evra is 5 ft 8. In any case you'd expect the player 5 inches taller to win the header. I'm not sure why the goal is being worshiped so much.

It's being worshipped not really because he beat Evra but because the leap in itself was pretty amazing.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson on Cristiano Ronaldo: "What a header. Unbelievable. You can't stop that, the leap and the spring to hold himself in the air. "I said to Patrice Evra at half-time, 'why didn't you challenge him?' and then I saw the replays and then thought 'what was I talking about?' We did very well containing [Cristiano]. "I think it was difficult for him playing against an old team, and it had a little bit of emotion attached to it because he played for us for six years, but he was still a big threat for them. When he gets the ball you are praying more than anything."

Looks like SAF has been having a post match wank.

One thing is for certain, I'm not sure I would fear this Madrid side if they did not have Ronaldo in their side. I think they have some great players but Ronaldo is that ruthless edge to them.

It's because of Ronaldo and his exceptional threat, that the likes of Ozil and that weasel faced winger get so much extra space.

It sums Ronaldo up that we feel like we've kept him relatively quiet, when he's scored, and had about 4 or 5 other good chances!

So that's what it's like to play against him.

He's relentless at times. If that's a good containment job on him, I dread to see us really let him loose. As for that header. Look at the height and power on that. I think he may just be the most potent aerial threat in the world right now.

We kept him pretty quiet second-half but you always feared that he's going to appear out of nowhere & make us all miserable...like Glaston when someone mentions Bale.

First time I've ever watched him dreading what he's going to do next, he's frightening.

:lol::lol::lol:

Thought Ronnie put in a decent team shift tonight, in terms of being a decoy and letting Ozil and Di Maria be the main threats. He was trying to time his runs into the box by staying out of the build up play as much as possible and coming in from deep positions.. I don't think he'll be like that in the second leg.

@MUFCquotes - "Ronaldo is sitting in our dressing room at the moment, talking to the lads. I'm proud to see how he's flourished." - SAF

I've mentioned it before but SAF really talks like a father when it comes to Ronaldo.

@JamieRfootball: SAF: "Ronaldo is sitting in our dressing room at the moment, talking to the lads. I'm proud to see how he's flourished."

Quality. Can see why people hate us so much, it's not nice having to deal with a player like that, constantly worrying.

Such a weird feeling when he scored. Mostly "shit, we've conceded" like always, but there was a tiny bit of "we helped to turn him into the player he is today" smugness in there.

I don't like these feelings, and I don't want them ever again.
