One think that is annoying in the forum is the fact that you cant call guardiola a cnut without mentioning Mourinho etc. Why is Barcelona considered such a sacred team amongst some users and even when one person disagrees and doesnt join the sheep he is slated to the absolute max. You all get so frustrated when someone says something against a caf favourite and then you laugh at cal. Get a grip you twats. They probably don't even know you exist and you act like they are your blood related relatives and this goes for people who cant take it when someone slates mourinho/ronaldo/real madrid but some managers/footballers are caf favourites and its like you cant say a bad word about them.

Guardiola was instantly the good guy here, laughable. Ronaldo must have done something right? And its highly unlikely Ronaldo brushed his head as Guardiolas head didnt move at all and you can't see any contact.

I stand corrected since it was 29 from 48 matches and not 23 from 50, since this was the season after.

That wasn't my point. I meant that 20+ goals in the late 90s/early 00s would be enough for a world class player. Hence my reaction at your use of the word "only". ;)

I think that it is FC Barca who has turned me against Pep. He is so far up Pep's arse that he think that Pep shits golden eggs of holy virtue.

'boo hoo managing the best squad in the history of football for millions of Euros a year is so bad, the pressure is really getting me down boo hoo'

Pep can kiss my arse.

Some stats from a website about Ronaldo:

Code:
Mins played in league: [B]20,882[/B] - Goals scored 215 = A goal every[B] 97 minutes.[/B]
Mins played in Domestic cups: [B]1,085[/B] - Goals scored = 18 = [B]100 minutes[/B].
Mins played in International cups (ECL):[B] 6,582[/B] - Goals scored = 45 = [B]146 minutes.[/B]
Mins played for National team: [B]7,649 [/B]- Goals scored = 37 = [B]206 minutes.[/B]

There are some stats that are missing, like the number of minutes played in 2002/03 for Sporting and 2003/04 for Manchester United. This could increase the number of minutes per goal.

I agree with this.

Are you a United fan PL? Genuine question.

I am Vato. Born in Wythenshawe in the 1970s and followed Manchester United before Atkinson took Robbo from the Baggies. Been through the good times, and the bad times. I support a second team at the moment since I live in Paris and they are Olympique Lyonnais. Have been a supporter since 2000, and they are still a great team to me. I like Barcelona a great deal, and I liked Real a bit too when Del Bosque was there, since they were a great side. The way Real went off the rails, the antics, the circus since then has made me dislike them even more. Also no, I didn't follow Beckhams career once he left for Real Madrid either. My memories of Ronaldo will always be with us, just as my memories of Beckham are, just as Hughesy too. I follow the team, and not the individual player.

Edit: @kouroux:

Pour dire les choses en face, je suis tout à fait d'accord.

How can you hate Ronaldo that much then? I honestly can't understand it. He was your best player for a long time and helped you win a European cup and a few league titles. How can you hate a guy that has helped the team's history so much? I understand that you don't idolize him, but hating him? The mind boggles.

Personally I still love him, he'd be amazing with RVP

Don't confuse "hate", with "dislike", Vato. When he agreed with Blatter about the slave comments, that was it, once you have crossed the line, then whatever you felt about a player before, has simply gone. I was a great fan of Rooney too, but there were rumours about him and City and you could say that he crossed the line too. Now, my opinion on Rooney is not what it was many years ago, it has changed. I have made it clear in a couple of posts that my favourite player ever, was Eric Cantona, and will always be. So, I would advise you not to put words into other peoples mouthes when they weren't even mentioned in the first place.

 What are you on about? You have the most posts in this thread and all of them had a negative undertone towards the lad. But yeah, you dislike him, you don't hate him, whatever the difference is.

Think what you like but you did miss one post where I actually stated that both Messi and Ronaldo are brilliant ambassadors off the pitch. They think of the fans, and would do anything, but you can ignore that.

You and me have exactly the same opinions on every thing about Real, Barcelona, Ronaldo, Rooney, Mourinho, Messi. You need to post more in united forum, and forget la liga.

Of course, Vato find us annoying, but if we are in 2004 or 2005 now, I'm sure we would be one of his favourites posters on football forum. Still, I find Vato as a great chap.

I post a great deal in the general and CE forum too.

Just for Vato and the "hatred", I have for Ronaldo:

So if I get it right, it's because of his flirting with us at the time and some comment he made that might have been pulled out of context? Fair enough, I can empathise to an extent as I have kind of the same with the moneygrabbing cnut that is Robinho, except he wasn't half as good for us as Ronaldo was for you guys.
I don't take football so serious to hate or find someone annoying for having an opinion, don't worry. Just found it really strange that's all.

It is impossible to stop players from following their dreams, and if he had left without the comment or agreeing with Blatter then, things would have been different I suppose. All he had to do was play out the rest of the season without saying a word and he could have gone with no regrets. To be honest, that will be one thing he will probably regret when he reflects on his career, the fact that Sir Alex helped him and he says the club treated him like a slave. I guess in the heat of the moment, things get said. As for the statistics I posted earlier about Ronaldo, this wasn't to discredit him at all. I just wanted to post some statistics for each competition, and I will be happy to post other statistics for other players from this site because it is pretty good.

I can understand your dislike in some ways, the summer of 2008 was ruined for me aS I thought he wanted to leave, I couldn't even watch the end of season review, because I felt he'd tainted it tbh. Even though he left eventually though , I still can't bring myself to hate him, yet I loathed Beckham for years after he left, when I read he didn't want to sign a new contract. I don't know what it is, whether it's because I think he wants to come back, he's the one player I mourn.

Not to nitpick or anything Erica, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, but how can a United fan hate/loathe Beckham and idolise Ronaldo?

I'd reckon Becks is a bigger legend to this club then Ronaldo, and he, IMO probably contributed more to United as well - and he was sold. He didn't want to leave. In fact, the wee glamorous bastard still comes to watch us as much as possible. Becks just comes across as a fan, like one of us, who lived his dream.

I know Becks made some stupid (celebrity) decisions in his life, but still, he's United through and through.

I could never hate Beckham because I think he's a genuinely decent bloke. He's more of a United fan than Ronaldo will ever be, but I'd love to see CR back.

Definitely.

One thing I didn't like about Beckham was that he was pushing for Ronaldo to leave United for Madrid during the Ronaldo transfer saga. Came across as a little prick.

Beckham, for me was part of the furniture just likes Giggs, Scholes, Gary Neville et al. He came through the ranks and played in a successful team. If you want to know which player was hated most by any fan, then Ronaldo is not your man. Some people despise Ronaldo, but what he received from opposition fans was nothing compared to what Beckham had, and had to endure. For me, Sir Alex really has let a few great players leave for one reason or another, and I always ask the question...why? Stam, Becks and Ruud to name a few.

Exactly, he would be the one player I would be happy to see come back. His love for us never wilted. Again, it is all down to SAF. Why force players to stay when they don't want to, and then force those who want to play, out? For me, Ronaldo will always have Real Madrid running through his veins, but Becks will always have United running through his veins.

Beckham wanted out and continues to play some Utd fans like puppets. We'll see shortly whether his claim he wouldn't play for another English club plays out.

Lets hope our fans can put their cocks away over ronaldo log enough to remember to create an imposi atmosphere at Old Trafford against these cnuts.

Viva Van Persie.

Becks was and always will be a United supporter.

Ronaldo knew he was loved and respected here...but United was not the club he grew up worshiping...so I have no problems with him leaving.

And I don't think he will ever come back.

Indeed. A brilliant player who had the love and adulation from all Manchester United fans. His respect for the club is there for all to see. It is a bit like Cantona when he could have gone to another club instead of retiring when he did. He respects the club through and through. When Ronaldo retires at Real Madrid, you can guarantee he will be in a private box at the Bernebeu, and not at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo agrees about the slave comments and he wanted out, does that make you a puppet too...or is it a case of :wenger:

I think the reason Ronaldo left was because he thought it would be easier to win the ballon d'or in Madrid which backed fire on him, had he stayed he probable would had win another one since United was molded around him like Barca is molded around Messi. I which a lot of success for Ronaldo for .... Portugal the hell with the rest.

No. I'm not claiming Ronaldo didn't want to leave or buying into his bullshit. Nice try.

We can't compare different times, today we have insane people paying insane money for a player.
