Indeed, he does.

Who was that eejit who went on some rant about a United player closing his eyes when he headed a ball, as evidence of his poor technique?

André Silva will leave on free. Porto wanted to renew but he didn´t. He´s the type of mobile, highly skilled striker with good finishing. Surprised Porto couldn´t renew with him and "let" him leave for free. He´s one of the few decent (if not the only) striker prospect in our national team youth rank. Ruben Neves is attracting interest from Juventus and Milan but i doubt Porto will sell him. They drive a hard bargain with their south american imports, i can´t even imagine what they will ask for their first decent youth rank player in years.

Bad news for Porto but one of the big English clubs sound like they are going to be getting a bright prospect in Silva, I wonder if he'll be expecting to go into the first team squad wherever he goes. Agreed on Porto keeping Neves for now, I also think if he's smart he wont want to move, he is only 17 and getting regular games, a move abroad so soon could do more harm than good.

For the delight of the eternal Ronaldo vs Messi thread participants, our FA has confirmed that there will be a Portugal vs Argentina match at Old Trafford, Manchester. The game will be played in the 18th of November. Good news for United fans. Ronaldo, Di Maria, Rojo, Nani and of course Messi on the pitch (no Bébé sorry, he can´t get a game for Benfica). Should be a good match.

The best for us is that Di Maria doesn't have to travel much. Yayyyyyyyyyy

Neymar has 7 goals on second place for the top scorer list; Ronaldo has 16! Is that for real... Messi has 6, so that has Ronaldo with a hat-trick ahead of both of them... Ridiculous stats he is turning up thus far this season.

Actually, his performances have gone up another notch this season. All round play has been every good.

No they haven't. In the last three matches perhaps, but he didn't exactly start the season in blistering form. Then again, the number of people who ream him whatever he does it doesn't surprise me.

You're one to talk with your constant nonsense about Ronaldo. His performances have been excellent. Could have had 2 more assists today with better finishing.

And for the record I don't even like him.

We got absolutely robbed at 80 million... :(

Absolutely, I said at the time that we should have been holding out for a 100. At that age, with that marketable face (sounds cheesy but it is absolutely true) and his ability he could have commanded a much higher fee.

Is TheShedEnd that bloke from the yong and lernin thread?

He has been putting in good performances in addition to his ridiculous scoring from the Atletico game (with a few exceptions) onwards. He, along with Messi, have been used in different roles to last season this year.

Righto, and you think he's gone up another gear from last season? It's staggering just how blinkered some are on here.

He has been in form since the beginning. Even against Atletico, he was very good while rest were having a 'mare.

By the way how do you know he didn´t play well and just put up the numbers? Don´t tell me you were obsessing over Ronaldo instead of watching Chelsea

Ronaldo's role hasn't changed at all. He's just been on an even deadlier scoring run. Performance wise he's no better than he was last season, though because his scoring form is freakishly good, apparently it means he's gone up another level.

Look at Neymar, he's considerably better statistically than he was last season, but performance wise he's been very so-so. Listening to the commentators gush about him on Sky is cringeworthy.

Of course he is at another level when he's scoring that kind of amount of goals! His numbers are completely unprecedented.

He has a point, it's only really in the last 3-4 games where he's been excellent all-round (Atlético 1st half as well, plus his game v Denmark I thought was quite a selfless display for which he really "earned" that winning goal), before that he was mainly finishing the loads of chances his team mates created, now he's been creating a lot himself and playing very well for the team. If he continues like this I think he'll have a great impact on the clásico. I'm curious to see.

Incredible. Has he actually reached his peak yet or will he get even better? Wouldn't be surprised if the latter was true!

Agreed.

Against Atletico he was played out on the left. Against Basel he was played out on the right and spent a lot of time out there hitting in crosses. Against Bilbao he dropped deep and took part in the build-up. There are other games where he has done similar also. He created chances for his teammates today also. He has definitely changed his way of playing and relies on his teammates more now in order to prolong his career due to the injuries he has been picking up.

The new Real Madrid accumulates bodies in the centre and a lot is built around the combinations of James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, as well as Ronaldo. That’s an evolution from his normal way of playing. He is accepting the limitations of his body as long as he remains important to the team which he is still is but in a different way. We started to see some of those changes last season, but that was partly down to physical problems. Now you can see he is accepting his physical limitations. He still has not recovered completely from his patellar tendon problems, so as a result and he is changing the way he plays. And it is working out pretty well so far.

Nice summary. I wasn't overly impressed with how he started the season (once again), but his 1st half v Atléti, the game v Athletic and qualifier v Denmark were very clearly on a different level and if he keeps it going, especially for the Big One next week, then I don't think there can be any complaints whatsoever if/when he wins the BdO (unlike last year's farce).

It's interesting to note though, despite people like SAF or Mourinho being brilliant man-managers, how Ancelotti always seems to get all these superstars and egos he's constantly having to manage to play for the team first. He isn't the most successful or innovative manager ever, nor is he even the best man-manager around, but he seems to be ridiculously good at adapting to any situation he walks into and fixing the messes made by his overzealous bankrollers IMO.

Why was that a farce?
