I know its only a minor injury but has seemed to have effect on Ronaldos game for a few months now, id hate to see his carear go the way of Luis Ronaldos

He needs to rest properly. He's not even training properly at the minute but still ends up playing in a friendly game.

Not quite the same. Cristiano Ronaldo's 29, seen his best days already. Ronaldo's injuries robbed him of his explosiveness by the time he 24.

Last summer maybe there was a chance if SAF would've stayed on.. He signed that new deal during the season and I would seriously if at Ronaldo's age, during his peak that he would be prepared to take a season out of the CL, and most of his pals have left since 09..

Real would never sell anyway even if he was serious but it does seem like a standard line, keep us talking about him, etc.

It's hard to ever see him in a utd shirt again..

Yeah but for him to go from such a peak to being a crock would be a shame, he really shouldnt of went to the world cup how he was

I've no sympathy for him whatsoever. He's a selfish git who almost jeapordised Real Madrid's Champions League hopes for his own personal gain against Valladolid.

If Ancelotti had any sort of backbone he'd put his foot down and stop him from playing every game next season. In fact, Real should have learnt from the piss poor way of how Barcelona handled Messi's injury last year.

What's this about?

He tried to play through injury against Valladolid and ended up aggravating it. I think his attempt to play against Espanyol was worse though, at least against Valladolid the title wasn't completely gone.

Indeed, and that was just so he could take the Golden Shoe away from Suarez to win it outright. Ancelotti can take the blame for that though, a ridiculous decison to risk him regardless of whether Ronaldo wanted to play or not.

He definitely contributed to it with a great professional attitude, but i think it's fair to say he wouldn't be the player he is now if he'd stayed at Sporting.

If he had gone to any of the big clubs that wanted him he would have become the player he is today.

Debatable. How many other clubs have the facilities and coaches we have? Certain clubs aren't that great at developing their young talents, whereas we emphasise giving youth a chance. How many minutes would Januzaj get at City for example?

That's absolute BS. How many youth players have we bought through over the last 10 years? Liverpool, Tottenham, Southampton have all probably bought more through than us. Were just like any other club these days, we pick up rated youth talent like Zaha, Powell and just loan them out.

Saying Ronaldo wouldn't have succeeded without us is laughable and deluded.

That's strange. I don't remember saying that.

I said it's debatable how good he would have become, a perfectly reasonable thing to say. Being at a club the size of United and playing under one of the greatest managers of all time is about as good as it gets.

Yes it's debatable but i'm pretty confident he would have. Most top clubs have good coaches. Ronaldo was the biggest driving force in making it. Anderson, Rooney, Nani etc. why didn't these players fulfil they're potential despite being here. They had access to all the same facilities and coaches Ronaldo did. His mentality and hunger is the difference. Coaches give the players a platform but the player has to take it. It's 70/30 for me.

I agree he's made himself a better player with his attitude, that's not what i'm debating. Anderson wouldn't have pissed all his talent up the wall otherwise, also the examples of other Brazilian prodigies are seemingly endless.

We have brought in a fair number of youth players recently. Jonny Evans, Cleverley and Welbeck. You can't exactly compare us with lesser clubs(no offense) like Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton when it comes to promoting youth players. There is less pressure at a club that isn't consistently competing for the title and Champions league meaning they can afford more chances to youngsters.

You have conveniently chosen examples to fit your views. How about Smalling, De Gea, Shaw(will be first team) and Jones? Zaha and Powell were players who never played EPL football prior to coming to us and it was only fair that we loaned them out to gain experience. When was the last time we bought a young player good enough for the first team but ended up wrongly loaning him out?

Happy Ronaldo day everyone :D :D :D The best day of the year!!

I was just about to post it on this page

Year ago today, I put this date on my iPhone Calendar and labelled it RONALDO DAY. The alert just popped up! Crazy how fast that year went.

Happy Ronaldo day.

Happy Ronaldo day eveyrbody!

I wonder how last season would have panned out if he hadn't signed? Pretty sure we wouldn't have managed the treble (what with Ronnie scoring 16 goals for us in the Champions League!), but I reckon we'd have won the league and cup double anyway. It can't all have been Ronaldo, a lot of the credit clearly has to go to Moyes, who has been an exceptional manager and filled Fergie's shoes with no problems. We're lucky to have them both!

 at people who thought Mourinho would have been a better fit for us. First of all he'd have never convinced Ronaldo to work another season with him after a disastrous spell at Madrid and I guess Mourinho's last season has put all the talk about him being an exceptional manager to bed once for all. Van Gaal will have hard time rebuilding Chelsea after 7th place finish.

My goodness this place is becoming more like rawk everyday :p.

Damn right. And to think there were people who thought that with Moyes as manager we'd end up signing a load of Everton dross like Fellaini!

Remember the look on Moyes' face when we went 3-0 up at Etihad earlier this year? Amazing, you could see sheer passion and dedication to the club. The way he took blame on his shoulders after our only defeat this season was also very admirable. You can see players love and admire him and will follow him every bit, he's our shepherd and I am delighted to have a man like this in charge of the club.

Let's see if van Gaal will be able to undo the damage done by Mourinho at Chelsea. And good luck to Mourinho finding new job, so far he's been turned down by freaking Galatasaray.

I know... like, did City even have a midfield in that match?! I remember Clevz brushing off that Toure joker as if he wasn't there - who'd have thought Moyes could get so much out of players we previously thought were so limited?

Shame we won't be playing City again this season, really.

Just the 2 goals from him tonight.

Did anyone see him and SAF after Ronaldo got his medal? Class.

Was a bit suspicious of him starting so soon, given his lack of friendly minutes. He looked a lot closer to full fitness than at the end of the last season so maybe he is pretty much healed now.

Let's hope so! I'm considering to get a La Liga subscription to be able to watch him regularly while he is at the height of his powers
