Fantastic video.

Not to get into a discussion of whether Ronnie or Messi is the best, but I am quite sure that there has never been any attacking player as complete as Ronaldo.

Left foot, right foot, free kicks, long shots, tap ins, headers, solo goals etc. He can score them all.

Not a player on earth I'd rather have in my team tbh.

I'm with you on this because we already know how Ronaldo held with united Abby other player might not adjust that well

Aside from the goal, I thought he played very well today and looked up for it.

Wonder if he's still sad?

Thought he looked good during the first 20 minutes, and in moments of the second half, but he did have a pretty forgettable period of rubbish long shots. Don't think he'll mind terribly, of course, considering the match winning goal.

Stolen from twitter:
@OptaJoe: 50 - Ronaldo has tonight become only the fourth player since 2004/05 to make 50+ passes in a CL match and complete them all. Perfect.

A true example of how a player should never give up in a match when a lot of his shots have been stopped. He worked very hard and tonight he showed a very good variety to his game and his dribbling was great and efficient

Cristiano Ronaldo's winning goal for Real Madrid tonight was his 39th Champions League goal, only three fewer than the entire Manchester City squad.

feck it, I still love the cocky cnut.

80 was a bloody steal for that monster.

I can't make up my mind whether I sincerely agree with this or not!

Was it a bargain for such a player? Or is it still a ridiculous amount for a footballer?

If you can spend it, its better to get a player like Ronaldo than keeping it in the bank...
if you cant afford it, way too much to 'borrow' for a player

This.

Mugged off Kompany and Maicon tonight, what a player! Still love him to bits. Although if he was a United shirt tonight I'd have been pissed off at how often he got his head down to shoot.

Bargain of course. It was evident from day one.

I'm not sure it was. 80m seemed like a lot more then than it does now in the footballing world. To me anyway.
Certainly seems like he'd be worth a lot more now but is that just by default because he's even better a player?

Will his transfer ultimately be seen as a success by Madrid if they don't win the CL before he leaves/retires?

Played a huge role in them wrestling the title back from an all conquering Barca team, not to mention all the cash he must generate for them through merchandising. To not win the CL with him there and all the other investment they've made would be disappointing but with what 150 goals in a 150 games or something, Ronaldo has done all you could really ask of him up to this point.

There's no denying he's been fantastic. I'm just thinking that Managers have been sacked at Madrid for winning the league, but not winning the CL. They're all about Europe and that's the barometer for them.

True and maybe Mourinho might come under pressure if they don't do well in that comp this year but like I said I don't think you can really fault Ronaldo that much. He's doing more than his fair share and I think in general they might be slightly more lenient given Barca are genuinely one of the all time great teams.
