Red devil on a shirt
Rooney's bald head gleaming
3 years of Bebe
Never stopped me dreaming
He's coming home, He's coming home
Ronaldo's coming home

Andy Cole and Schmeichel joined Man City, don't see why Ronaldo wouldn't and Cole apparently loves United and takes his boy to the game and is English. If push comes to shove and the right deal is on the table I doubt him having worked with SAF will come into play.

If City slapped £200m down + big wages he'd go... for example. For every Berbatov situation you have ten Nasri's, Robben's, Essien etc.

As a side-note, some people pretend a bigger wage not just because they re greedy, but also because being best paid, shows how good/important they are in their job or field of interest.
I think this could be the case with ronaldo too - although most players nowadays are under the hands of their agent more than ever...

City were never our real rivals though back then. If they had joined liverpool at the time we would of been going mental. Its different now, they are straight challengers and we would be more annoyed, especially with the situation behind it all.

Re: cole and schmeichel - they joined city towards the end of their career. Ronaldo is still at the peak and according to one of real's physios he expect ronaldo to play well in his thirties because of the way he takes care of himself.

Its kinda weird that hypothetical character assassinations and then character building up of Ronaldo has already been done here to a certain extent and all that before he has even done anything himself.

City won't pay £200m for him and will not offer him much bigger wages than Real.

The point I think you're missing here is that the two players you used as examples moved to City when they were a comparative minnow and no threat to United, when their careers were on the wane and they were desperate to play at the highest level possible.

I don't know if anyone saw Schmeichel on the bank holiday edition of goals on sunday (monday) a week or two back, but it was a very good, long, interview. He was asked whether he would have moved to City had they been what they are now, and he flat out said no. Obviously that's easy to say now as his career has long since gone, I like to believe him though.

Ronaldo is still at his peak, and is a very different case from Cole or Schmikes. FWIW, I don't believe he would ever go to City.

Am I missing something here? Why is there a 21 page Ronaldo thread in the transfer forum?

Well he's unhappy and might be up for sale according to some sources. Personally, i feel its a load of bollocks. If you want a move, end of the transfer window isnt the best time to ask for one.

Robben and Essien werent on the way down and SAF was in for Nasri. Lotsnof players would now choose City over us, time except it.

"Real Madrid are preparing a joint statement with Cristiano Ronaldo that should put an end, at least temporarily, to the uncertainty over his future.

The declaration being compiled by the club, but expected to be signed by the player as well, will affirm Real’s commitment to eventually extending Ronaldo’s contract beyond 2015 and will also give the club’s full support to his candidacy for the Balon D’Or prize awarded at the end of the year."

The article goes on to talk about the theories people have for his antics - including that we still sing Viva Ronaldo, but apparently the Real fans don't go into orgasm at the sound of his name, and other such whiny crap.

What the bollocks is this Ballon D'Or shit, why are they not giving him full support?

It's all bollocks, he just wants more money since he's being taxed more.

Are there Ballon d'Or Super PACs?

Sadly, this kind of lobbying for the Ballon d'Or is commonplace. In years when its felt there's no clear winner, whining and dining journalists and people who have influence over the vote can swing it one way or the other. There's a sense that this year it should be a Spaniard given their success at the Euro's and Iniesta is the favourite. Madrid's hierarchy wanted to push Casillas as an alternative and Casillas himself felt Iniesta should win, both things knocked Ronaldo's nose out of joint.

As we all know, being United fans, Ronaldo needs to be the centre of attention and losing centre stage first to Messi, then to Iniesta and now even within Madrid has bruised his ego. It'd be silly to suggest cash doesn't play a part but I'd guess in Ronaldo's mind the fact he hasn't been offered a new contract when other players like Higuain have, coupled with the Casillas campaign, makes him feel like Florentino has downgraded his importance (many of the Madrid papers would agree. Plenty of chatter that Florentino thinks by 30 Ronaldo will no longer be the big thing and there will be another Galactico to bolster the club's image).

Sir Alex Ferguson will ask Manchester United to pay whatever it takes to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

Rooney on...Ronaldo: The truth behind THAT wink and my red card

Ferguson is anxious to discover whether the *Portuguese superstar is *serious about wanting to quit Real Madrid.

In a huff: Cristiano Ronaldo refused to celebrate after scoring in a game against Granada
Angel Martinez

Watch Cristiano Ronaldo refuse to celebrate Madrid goals because he's 'sad' for 'professional' reasons

Just three years ago Ronaldo joined Real in a world-record £80million deal from United.

Now, if he really wants out, *Ferguson will ask the Glazer *family – who own United – to do everything in their power to re-sign the 27-year-old.

Reports in Spain have suggested Ronaldo’s *unhappiness is being caused by Real’s *refusal to hand him a new *contract worth a staggering £500,000-a-week. But sources close to the player have *countered that he has been hurt by a lack of respect from team-mates.

He also feels his failure to win the European *Footballer of the Year award proves he isn’t getting the credit he deserves for a strike rate that has seen him score 151 goals in 150 games at the Bernabeu.

A United source said: “The manager made it clear when Ronaldo joined Real that if he ever left the *Bernabeu he should return to Old Trafford.

“It’s a transfer that would prove that United can still compete with anyone for the biggest names in *football.

“But, at the moment, only Ronaldo knows whether he is serious about leaving Madrid or whether he’s just having a sulk.”

I dreamed a dream in time gone byyyyyy

Whenever an article says "A source said:", I always call bollocks.

With that being said....

Don't even care if it's bollocks, just put some pressure on Madrid for fun's sake I say :D

Edit - Sorry mods, forgot about the pics rule in the football forums, feel free to delete if necessary.

He might be cocky, arrogant and throw a tantrum every now and then, but if people point that out all the time they might mention the other aspects of his personality aswell.

I don't know why people keep comparing Ronaldo with other players. He is clearly unlike any other player Ive ever seen, both skill and personality wise.

Reminds me of Drogba, for much of his Chelsea career i absolutely hated him. But towards the end when i saw his interviews and what he had done i started to see him in a different light, i guess it will be the same with Ronaldo.

He's alright isn't he? Not as bad as people make out.

Giving blood and donating money when you're a multi-millionaire isn't really a big deal, the only other thing in there is his dad died...sad that he lost his dad so young but should people really take that into account when talking about his personality? Does it make his tantrums more bearable? I don't think so.

Vato that picture's fine because it's relevant to the thread.

I don't get the lack of recognition really. The guy has scored 151 in 150 games for Madrid. He's a phenomenon. Madrid fans should be grateful he plays there. From what I hear he doesn't get the same love there as he got at United. That has to play a big part in a player's happiness anywhere.

Why would he NEED such a huge pay rise? If he is desperate to come back he may very well accept wages in line with Rooney and RVP

IF he's looking for a move and we somehow manage to cough up the transfer fee, i really doubt he'd want wages in line with anyone in the squad. Not 400k because he knows we cant pay him that but he'l want wages much higher than anyone else in the squad.

It depends how much you do of course. Just because you're a multi millionaire doesnt mean you can't get credit for doing good things. It's not as if they're all supposed to do what they do and its always the done thing no matter how much they actually do.

And yes that (not his father passing) does affect some people's overall opinions of him. Giggs was the immaculate professional but as a person I don't respect him at all. On field antics are such a minute part of one's personality in the end. So I can definitely see someone not giving a shit about a players on field antics if they feel the guy in general isn't bad at all.

I reckon the only we we will pay heim near enough is with a huge merchandise cut. World wide sales of a United shirt with Ronaldo on the back must amount to a pretty penny alone.

It is almost cum worthy to think of an attacking force containing Ronaldo, Rooney, Rvp and Kagawa/Nani/Valencia. I mean jebus!!! Look at it.

If Schmeichel and Cole had still been good enough for Utd they wouldn't have signed for City. If it's true that he is unhappy because of a lack of 'love' for him then there's only one place for him.
