I'm still surprised Tommy Smyth made such a smug "who's laughing now" comment on twitter about Ronaldo coming back without any foundation whatsoever.

It's the level of smugness you'd have after it'd been done.

I once had the pleasure of listening to Tommy commentate on a Champions League game a few years ago.

Bayern Munich, I think were playing, and somebody took a quick throw to a striker who was in an offside position but obviously wasn't offside because it was a throw, they nearly scored from it . Tommy then went on a rant that lasted at least three or four minutes about how disgraceful it was that the linesman didn't see the offside and after he was finished his rant he mentioned it two more times during the game saying that he would do better job than he ref or the linesman.

To say that I was screaming at the TV would be an understatement
 
I think it's that horrible clutching at any straws that are still left when you hear these "ITKs".

But most of the time they're utter plebs who have no idea whatsoever.

The ones who give a certain date are the worst. I'm not sure I've ever seen one of those come off.

I really want this to be true.

Really, as in, 'would consider losing a bollock, or letting John Terry have a go on my missus' for this to be true.

My gut feeling tells me tomorrow is going to be a big letdown, and it's all muppet hype. I hope I'm wrong, I haven't prayed in some time, perhaps this would be a good time.

Practically, the only trouble with a Ronaldo return is that we've got two promising youngsters, Januzaj and Zaha vying to play on the right, in addition to, well, Toni. So if he comes back, I guess it's curtains for either Nani or Young and we use him on the left. Also, would Valencia lose the #7 shirt again? I can see Ronnie wanting that back - probably would have it in the contract somewhere. Could you imagine if he became 'CR22' ? Millions of Malaysian and Indonesian fans on YouTube would be heartbroken.
 
It's difficult to maintain a liking for him when you watch him play, you get the sense his ego has reached previously unheard of levels.
 
Imagine if it actually happened today; just picture the scenes on here. It would be nuts.

Unfortunately, it is not going to happen.
 
I have just seen a massive moth and they are a sign of good luck therefore we are signing Ronaldo today. You heard it here first.
