Cristiano Ronaldo

He is more talented then all of them.

At the end of the day when all is said and done we'll be talking about how Ronaldo and Messi are the 2 best players of all time. Why we wouldn't want one of the 2 best players of all time is beyond me.

This is a man who has scored more goals than played games for Madrid. He's destroyed the spanish league. And it's hilarious because people thought he wouldn't do as well...that he needed a "transition period" or that kaka would do better than him.

I'll take your word for it, personally I never had the pleasure of watching Best, Charlton or Edwards.

I am not here to be liked or to be a celebrity mate, I am here to express my opinion. I am not going to be a sheep like others and say that Ronaldo needs to come back. He had his time here, he left us and he must stay at Real Madrid. Personally, I hope he has a lot of success with them in the near future, why can't you wish him the same or are you that bitter because he left us?
What? There's s another strange jump of reasoning. Where am I bitter, or expressing any hint of bitterness? Have you had a recent head injury?

Everyone stop talking please. Just post news. The conversation in this thread is brain numbing.

Messi, yes. Not Ronaldo. Their goalscoring is equal, their game's aren't and that's why Messi is already spoken about as the greatest of all time. The only people who think that highly of Ronaldo are Ronaldo stans and probably Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is not better than Maradona and Pele.

This.

I've always said. A argument can be made to put Ronaldo in the top 5-10 of all time, but the argument for Messi will be top 1-3. That's not a slight on Ron though. If it wasn't for that midget, he would have won 5 straight Ballon D'or's by now

I actually think that he'll return. I've always said that Bale and Ronaldo won't be playing together for more than a season. They both need to be #1 to thrive.

The sooner Bale joins RM, the better in my opinion. Throw £65 million for Ronaldo, and I reckon he's ours.

If there was anything in this at all, every paper in the land would be running with it.

Is it herd mentality to want something that is pure magic? Honestly, fair enough if you never ever want to re-sign former players on a matter of principle. To want him back is not a prosaic attitude however, I can think of two very valid reasons besides any sentimentality and they are both very relevant. We'd win more. We'd look better doing it.

tbh I am not too bothered whether Ronaldo comes back or nor am I overly excited at the prospect. World class player obviously but we'll probably build the entire side around him again and end up playing the insipid football that we played in his last season with us.

How can someone not be excited at the prospect of the one greatest ever players playing for Manchester United? :wenger:

I'm so excited I'm practically drooling every time I open this thread.

Surely it's almost time to move this to the transfer forum now?

The football United have been playing, especially the last 3 seasons, has not exactly been easy on the eye.

Can you direct us to that thread? I don't recall reading this epic story. Thanks!

It isn't that exciting. He was in the newbies under the name addernoire, was banned, came back as Proud_Lyon and was undiscovered for a few months. Earned a lot of rep points and was close to being promoted before being found out. His rep was then put in the minus figures (think he was on 126 points and it was changed to -126). He then earned more rep points and eventually was promoted.

And it's been regretted ever since.

He has already played for Manchester United and won the ballon d'or with us.

I love him for what he did and wish him all the best but I'd rather look forward to younger players getting their chances than spending 65m on a 28 year old.

You were probably too busy writing long posts that nobody read to have even noticed it.

It's not really a myth, we've been seeing it with our own eyes.

Speak for yourself. It's just standard football tinted specs talk. If we play a good game everyone acknowledges it and then forgets it, but if we play bad football in a game it will be referred to constantly over the next twelve months. Meanwhile we imagine some golden past where United played beautiful football in every game, and we create an imaginary Barcelona/Dortmund who are always excellent and never disjointed or tedious.

We've played excellent, entertaining football for the most part. Remember the entire first half of last season, when we were making mistakes at the back but scoring goals for fun?

I don't know where you're coming from. I'd imagine that not a single club would say no to Ronaldo, if they had the money.

Yeah, we had some dramatic and some high-scoring games. Doesn't mean the football itself was easy on the eye. It wasn't. Not with any consistency for quite a while now. Can't fault the results and the excitement but in terms of quality our football has left a lot to be desired over the last few years. It's mostly down to a sub-par midfield having to struggle against teams who have the numerical advantage in the middle of the park while our wingers are hugging the touchline waiting for the ball.

Anyone else get the impression FLNewss, whoever they are, don't really understand the point of twitter? There might have been more appropriate mediums for that little story.

Whatever United are willing to pay for Ronaldo would be fine by me. He's one of those players who's a good buy no matter how much you pay. But £65mil would be a really great deal for us, I reckon.

Well, each to his own I suppose. I'll admit the consistency hasn't necessarily been there, but I think there've been plenty of games where we've played great football. Last season the real problem was that in lots of games we'd play a superb half and a shit half.

I think there's a chance that the 'Barcelona era' has slightly skewed people's perceptions of what entertaining football is. Midfielders aren't the only ones who can do it, and five yard passes aren't the only way for them to do it. Carrick's been an absolute delight to watch this season.
