Cristiano Ronaldo

maybe he knows mourinhio is coming as Fergie's successor, and madrid will only go downhill from there. He wants out whilst the goings good, and also he still highley respects Fergie.

either that or it is just a tactical move to get leverage with the internal politics

Am I the only one who thinks this thing has a bigger chance of blowing over and turning into nothing?

Nope, you're not the only one. In a few days time Ronaldo will make a public apology and say he was down because it was the anniversary of his father's death. All will be great again and we'll win the treble.

Anyone needs the lottery numbers for next week?

Sky Sports News already goes nuts about the transfer rumors.

PSG and City have bid 120 mio. € and like 10 other clubs are interested in him.

So all it takes is a statement from Ronaldo that he is unhappy and all of a sudden half the clubs in England, Italy and Spain have labled a bid for him or want to.

Great stuff.

It's a pipe dream but with what is happening in Spain right now economically you never know.

Spain's economy could be in tatters for a long time.

Front four of Welbeck, Rooney, Ronaldo and Nani. I'd call that cheating on FM

Welbeck is out of place in those names. You're also forgetting Valencia, Van Persie and Hernandez.

Barring a personal family issue, what does he have to be sad about? Playing for one of the worlds biggest clubs, getting paid millions, banging hot chicks, and being the second best player in the world. Rough life.

He is like Michael Jackson. Did not get to experience youth well. Devoted to his trade. Anonymous mothers and stuff. Maybe Real denied a Jacko request? Probably wanted to come out?
Nah.... that is not Ronaldo I just described. He looks happy.

Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected accusations he said he is "sad" at Real Madrid to get more money from the club.

Ronaldo, 27, refused to celebrate either of his goals in Sunday's 3-0 win against Granada and revealed his disquiet to reporters after the match.

Several theories have been put forward to explain his mood, but Ronaldo denied his motives are financial.

"I am accused of wanting more money, but one day it will be shown that this is not the case," the forward said.

It has also been suggested that the Portugal international was upset by a perceived lack of support from his club in his bid to be named World Player of the Year for a second time and because Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta was selected as Uefa's Best Player in Europe last week.

Ronaldo has made a huge impact since joining Madrid from Manchester United for a world record £80m fee in 2009. His 46 La Liga goals last season played a key role in helping Real becoming Spanish champions.

Ronaldo insisted that his "motivation, dedication, commitment and desire to win all competitions will not be affected" by his feelings.

He added that he had "too much respect for myself and for Real Madrid to ever give less" than he is capable of.

Real team-mate and former Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa offered his support to Ronaldo.

He said: "If Cristiano is sad and needs the support of his team-mates, then of course he is going to get it. And if it is the support of the fans, I am sure they will give it.

"In Real Madrid, we are a family. When one member is not as happy as he should be we help him. When things are not right we all help."

At least he will feel wanted now.

Ronaldo will come back sooner or later... I don't see him going to any other team than MU.

I have absolutely no sympathy for his sadness.

Whatsoever.

The massive gimp.

Would everyone be happy at throwing in excess of 80m for him? I'm not so sure I would. If we have that kind of money then we could buy 3 class players, which would be better for the team, no?

No. If we add Ronaldo to the squad we have right now, we would win the league without question.

I wouldnt be pleased to see us spunk 80 mil on him at all, although if you could get him for 60mil id be all for it. If he left Madrid I would like to think he would come back to us, chances are he will stay in Madrid until he retires though.

Yes, I would love to see him back here. I can live with him being a twat no problem

80m no? 60m yes? How do people come up with what is right to pay and what is wrong? Why does it matter to the United fans in particular? If the club think they can finance a move, then great, they probably know what they are doing more than the supporters do, if the club thinks we can pay 100m for him, I really don't give a damn.

But Ronaldo won't leave Real Madrid so soon.

Ok, I'll put it another way. For the money we would have to spend on him, we could most probably get Bastian Schweinsteiger and Neymar. Would you not think that would be better for the team?

Ronnie can win the league on his own.

Because we have been heavily in debt since the glazers took over. You do read the news dont ya ? 60mil actually wouldnt be a bad price for him compared to whats been purchased for 35 & 40 mil

The money you spend on Ronaldo - baring injury would be well worth it. It's like signing a Maradona, Pele (in the pomp) or messi....the shirts you sell, the buzz you create and the fact he's consistent...

The madrid fans, that boo Ronaldo - are idiots. The only reason they're as close as they are to Barcelona is because of Ronaldo.

The debt is irrelevant. We have enough liquidity and a huge line of credit available for signings like these. This is a world class player, and a proven goal scorer. There's not much risk involved with this signing.

He's also an attractive player (not in terms of looks). But in terms of attracting other young talent who want to play with the world best, and become famous, he would make opposition teams sit slightly deeper and such players towards him giving more space to other players.

No, 2 isn't always better than 1. In this case I'd rather have the second best player in the world. He's a machine, with him in the team we wouldn't even need a proper midfield.

This, it's not as if United are in danger of going under if we spend too much money, the Glazers might just have to sell another 10% of shares, big deal.

Does anyone think Real would accept a bid matching what they paid for him?

I think Real will accept less next summer, 2 years of contract left, only wants to come to United (if that's the case), offer them a player or two plus some cash.

Perhaps...it's just I can imagine a mental offer coming in from a sugar daddy club...Ronaldo then faced with being frozen out at Madrid or actually playing football for a huge weekly wedge.

I think he'll sign a new contract to be honest.

A pick-n-mix from random Spanish press sources then...
  • Perez loves Ballon D'Or winners. He doesn't think Ronaldo can win it this year, so he would love to have a proper campaign for Casillas to become the first Spanish winner, however that's difficult with Ronaldo around. Instead Iniesta has sneaked into pole position for the Spanish candidate job.
  • They think if Ronaldo was in a hurry to leave he'd have told them so last month.
  • Perez isn't particularly bothered whether Ronaldo renews his contract or not as he doubts he'll be the same player or the same marketing bonus at 30 that he was at 24.
  • Even a payrise is difficult unless Kaka leaves.
  • Madrid are looking at the Falcaos and Neymars for the next big thing, and while Ronaldo doesn't see them as a threat (too much confidence/arrogance for that) he does see it as the club planning for his departure.
  • Ronaldo's perfectionist streak leaves him permanently dissatisfied which can be a positive driver or a negative one. Right now (after losing a CL and a Euro semi) it's negative, which is where Mourinho comes in.
  • Mourinho has been in touch with Ronaldo, and Perez and co have put Mou in charge of calming him down.

Whether that's the whole story is a different matter, but I do think it's some of the story.

Thanks for keeping us posted jojojo, always a pleasure to read your synthesis of the Spanish press.

Apart from all the other problems, just the unsubtle anti-Portuguese atmosphere at RM would be enough for most Portuguese players to want to go elsewhere (I imagine); and I don't see this atmosphere changing. Then there's the sky-high cost to RM of a boosted or new contract. So, I expect to see Ronaldo move within the next couple of transfer windows.

Ronaldo being frozen out?

How's that going to work?
