It seems like the journos are on a rumour cycle. We started the summer with Ronaldo. Then Thiago. Then Cesc. Then a little bit of Modric. Now back on Ronaldo.

I can't understand why people don't understand that putting Bale and Ronaldo in the same team isn't as simple as "well one can play left and the other can play right". Ronaldo frequently switches wings, we saw this all the time with him and Giggs, and indeed during the CL games against Madrid this past year. He moves around the pitch based on where he perceives the defences weaknesses to be, and the rest of the attack shifts around to accommodate this movement.

A large part of Bale's evolution this season was learning how to do the same thing. The "Bale is no longer a winger" line was a running theme throughout the year for good reason, the player himself stated that he is no longer exclusively a wide player. This doesn't mean he starts in the middle, it means he's learned how to identify the which fullback he'll have more success against, or whether there's space between the lines he can drop into etc.
That is why Ronaldo and Bale in the same team doesn't make sense. Not because they both want to play on the left, but because they both want to play everywhere, and their styles of play are not at all complementary (i.e. someone like Mata plays all over as well, but his game would complement Ronaldo/Bale and vice versa). Quite simply, they're going to get in each other's way.

I would love to see Ronaldo's face if Gareth Bale tries to take a free kick.
Bale would play 2nd fiddle to Ronaldo everywhere and rightly so. He's achieved nothing like what Ronaldo has other than getting Madrid to pay a ridiculous sum of money for him. Bale could be encouraged to stay wider than he has been at Spurs to allow Ronaldo the main free role.
How believes that we have more of a chance of getting Ronaldo versus Fabregas? He will know that if he is to return to us it will have to be this year as next year he will be 29. Also, I'm not sure that Ronaldo will appreciate sharing the limelight with the "most expensive player in the world". Personally I think it is a long shot but not impossible.

Calderon on SSN said there has been talks with the player (saying he'd be welcomed back) and his relationship with Perez is shit.

I still think that if there was even a chance that Ronaldo would come back this summer that Fergie would not have retired. He'd have given an arm and a leg to be able to play a team with Ronaldo in it again.
Disagree. Ferguson was very clear that he retired to spend more time with his wife after her sister (and "best friend") died. Family trumps all else.

Perhaps. But, as I said, ultimately he took a decision to retire based on his wife being lonely. He'd also alluded to the fact that his wife has been very understanding over the course of their marriage and that it was time to spend some real time with her. We'll never know.
It's not like SAF won't get the chance to be involved in someway anyways, if Ronaldo was to join. I'd say him being a director and still a part of the club will still be used to good effect, in any negotiations.
