It really is a shame that a player of his quality has won so little these past 3-4 years.

This is what happens when you join Real Madrid.

I STILL do not understand why its considered a "dream" to join them. More like a fecking nightmare.

A circus I tell ya.

He can buy himself out of the 2 years left on his contract, yeah? The Webster Ruling still exists doesn't it? Nike can give him the cash to cover that.

All sorted. Put him on a plane, get him back from Miami.

What if he doesn't want to come back? What if he wants to stay there and make futile attempts to try to prove himself?

I think it's the other way around. Ronaldo's proven himself, it's Madrid who haven't proven themselves.

Hunter knows feck all. Only thing he knows is Thiago. Anything good he says about Thiago is definitely true.

I think the big clubs have agreed not to buy players who've bought their contracts.

He hasn't got the individual honours to prove it though, has he? I'm sure he covets the CL trophy the most in club football but surely missing out on all those ballon d'ors to Messi must have hurt his pride immensely. Maybe he doesn't realise that moving away from La Liga is the only way he's ever going to get to play outside of Messi's shadow.

I don't think individual honours matter though. It's the players around him who haven't been good enough. If he leaves, people will say he proved himself but didn't win much. Any other time in history, he'd have a whole lot more individual honours anyway

The reaction of most Caftards whenever there's any news about their muppet dream transfer.

I've thought this for a while. Playing in the same league means direct comparison every single week.

I don't think he can get out of the Messi shadow they are the two best players in the world they are comfortably ahead of the rest so it is only natural to compare them. I think in terms of 'proving himself' he has more than done that personally but he would happily have scored half the goals he had and won as much as Barca have since he has been there, definitely unfinished business in that regard.

That's hilarious. He looks like a homophobe coming to terms with the gayness that drives his own fear.

Even carrick is in on the action now. He just tweeted about seeing number 14 on Valencia's back. Now he is trying to claim he meant something about the lions tour. Yeah, sure...you have let the cat out of the bag now mate...

Thats hilarious his innocent tweet got turned into some cryptic transfer hint

We need a new signing soon to stop our fans cracking up. Everything is a clue!

Fourteen was Kanchelskis's number wasn't it? Similar type of players, makes sense.
I know nothing about rugby so no other explanation makes any sense to me. It's definitely back on

Perez seems very cocksure Ronaldo will be singing a new contract despite nothing from Ronaldos camp suggesting he is willing to.

He told 20minutos: "He's our most important asset, and we will build the future of Madrid around him.
"Soon we will clarify this issue. I have no doubt that Cristiano is going to retire at Real Madrid. I'm convinced that he'll renew. The renewals are done before the season starts."
Perez has also been speaking about possible additions at the Bernabeu, with Real reported to be plotting summer raids for Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale, Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and Malaga playmaker Isco.
He added: "I try to make it that the best players in the world play for Madrid.
"Players are never expensive or cheap. It depends on the performances that they provide. (Luis) Figo, (Zinedine) Zidane, Ronaldo and (David) Beckham gave us a massive jump in income. If you invest in great players, you will have more income.
"That allows, firstly, the club to be independent and in the hands of the members, and, secondly, to attract other great players.
"We want great footballers who work hard and understand this club and its history. Those that know me, know I always want the best to come to Madrid."

The source is El Pais, which is to my knowledge not a transfer rumour mill tabloid. Not saying it's new stuff being reported (some of the details are) - just a continuation of the Ronaldo to Manchester saga.

Can Ronaldo go anywhere without being papped, and would our club take that risk?

In the comments someone called JudgeRed said this

This is all about Ronaldo and his agent orchestrating a new contract to match Messi at Barcelona. Manchester United cannot afford him. Ronaldo has the potential to eclipse Di Stefano at Madrid in legend status. Can just see the conversation with United now......."Yes Mr Ronaldo.....come back to our 50% tax bracket and a reduced wage from the one Real are giving you.....Ronaldo, where are you going?, come back a minute I haven't finished selling it to you yet"! Don't think so-----------------------------------------------------------> Show me one top footballer who pays 50% tax and I'll show you the the hole that dismisses your post. Next time boil and egg. Better use of your time and less cranial.

Don't Spain have a higher tax bracket than the UK?

Reading the comments section on The Daily Mail website is a slippery slope GB.

Though to answer your question, I always was under the illusion that footballers in Spain get much better tax breaks then they do in England... I think it stems from something I read when Jermaine Pennant was living it up over there.

I'm probably entirely wrong mind.

Cristiano Ronaldo "set to meet" Manchester United officials in next few days ahead of possible return

Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way back to Manchester United with the Real Madrid star set to meet officials from his former club.
Spanish newspaper El Pais reports the 28-year-old is due to meet with United in the next few days ahead of a sensational return to the Old Trafford club.
Real had hoped Carlo Ancelotti's arrival as manager at the Bernabeu would persuade Ronaldo to stay, the Italian admitted it would be an "honour" to work with the forward.
But a secret meeting between the Portuguese star and the Red Devils could pave the way for a remarkable return and massive coup for new boss David Moyes.
Moyes is also ready to convince Wayne Rooney to stay at United , and Ronaldo's return could be the perfect incentive to the England striker.
Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had been planning an Old Trafford return for Ronaldo before he retired in May.
Ronaldo spend six years working with Ferguson, winning the Premier League title three times as well as picking up the Champions League trophy.

As much as I hope the mail article is accurate, you have to love lines such as:

As FIFA prohibit clubs maintaining official contact with players who have contracts in place, both sides have agreed to deny any kind of meeting,
So, write a story devoid of any quotes and create a situation where any denials only serve to support your article.
