"...but, you never know in the future, maybe I'm gonna be back to England again."

"...but of course I've good memories about Manchester, I've good friends there, and I miss them a lot so you never know."

Old interview, but still wank worthy.

This probably won't end well - for those who allow their hopes to get up.

But something seems to be happening, somewhere, and it might end in...something.

The problem in 2013 is that the reason why rumours gather momentum is, like as not, that some feckwit on Twatter has managed to make some other feckwit, who is followed (what an inane term) by a feckload of feckwits, re-spout the unfounded whisper he - the feckwit with less followers - picked up from a third feckwit at some point. And then the bookies lower their odds, because they're not complete feckwits and don't want to take unnecessary risks, and then all the feckwits in the world enter muppet mode, and, yeah - it's on.

However. It could be on. In fact I'd say it probably is on.

I wonder exactly when Fergie made his decision. To retire, I mean. We've had people on this since January, they say. Would have been a blow to these people, one would think, when Fergie - out of the blue - announced that he was stepping down. Unless Fergie is one of them - the people, I mean.

Nobody really knows anything, do they? Except that bloke Ronnie is wont to refer to. God or some such name.

His official FB posted a link to that flipbook of him, which features him primarily in red. The red of Manchester United.

Tenuous and retarded as this insight might be. It's just enough to get me whispering 'cocks out' while staring at myself in the mirror, my breath gently steaming the glass.

'Cocks out.'

For all those saying it is not about the money. Why has he not come out with his intentions? He is sitting on the fence we know that when he wants something he has no trouble coming out and saying it. Few would begrudge him a move back here in all honesty, they could definitely create the right PR spin the Real fans may not forgive him but the football world would understand. He is playing poker with Madrid simple as. It is like anyone in a job trying to get what they feel they deserve. Real are under no pressure to sell him he has two years to run, next season is where things get desperate for them. I would rather we didn't break the bank for him as amazing as he is. This is all about his contract and we are being used to help him get a bigger deal. It is believable he would leave Madrid for us obviously he can't join Chelsea, City, PSG, Barca or Bayern we are the only realistic option left.

All HE talks about is his contract NOTHING else. It is the press that is discussing other things. Player power is huge if he wanted to leave he could definitely put pressure on Madrid. If he was to leave it would be next year not this year, Madrid would have little choice right now they are still in control.

I don't think this transfer is as implausible as some may think, the only thing holding it back is the financial implications and the Moyes issue.. to leave Madrid and come to play under an untested manager is a big step... but I do think Ronaldo's next move is purely based on which club he feels best fuels his dual ambition of being the best in the world and winning the biggest trophies. Very tough call... if he goes to the French clubs - he's done for, so that leaves a straight fight between ourselves and Madrid. He doesn't really have any other options.

There's also rumours that the Bale signing is riding on this transfer, again I don't think that is as ridiculous as it sounds. In addition to a Centre-mid, we're devoid of star quality on the wings... seriously hope this summer doesn't turn out to be the dampest squib of all.

Real will move heaven and earth to keep him, they'll change anything that needs changing. Style of play, wages, coaches, anything to keep Ronaldo happy. If they lose him, they say goodbye to the league for many years to come.

Don't think that's the case. It's like non United fans talking doom and gloom aboutt us when we lost ruud, ronaldo and now Fergie... Our club is too big for it to pan out like that. As are Real.

They have won trophies galore before Ronaldo, they will still win things when he's gone.

Maybe not if they bring in Bale and Suarez. Being honest, if you were offered Bale and a World Class striker with the talent (but not the cuntishness or face) of Suarez, you'd more then likely lean towards that.

Well, me personally, I'd rather have Ronaldo, too but that's because he'd be a perfect fit for us and I have a man crush on him.
What I'm saying is, that if Real were to lose Ronaldo and they brought in Bale and Suarez, they wouldn't be doing too badly and for a lot of people would actually be improving the team.

Where are some of you getting the idea that he has everything he wants at Madrid?

He started the season off "sad."

The fans do not care about him, especially when compared to the likes of the Spanish contingent.

They're run as a circus.

They don't back him for the major individual awards, did Perez not push Casillas for the award last summer?

They can't beat Barca.

It's not what he wanted in the end.

Bale is the hottest prospect in world football right now. He's basically a 23yr old Ronaldo.

No, he isn't. Not as a player and certainly not as a galactico. Neymar was the closest, but they missed him.

Nor could Bale/Suarez even replace the goalscoring tally of Ronaldo, never mind Ronaldo + Benzema/Higuain.

However what I really came here to post was this:

He's not. However he's a very good player. Will be interesting to see if he can maintain his form. He needs to be playing in the champions league though

When people say so and so is only whatever age great players really tend to show themselves in their early 20's there are a few exceptions of course but to think of what he was doing at 21 AMAZING. He has gone on to become one of the most complete forwards i've seen.

I reckon the Bale/Ronaldo 2007/08 comparisons are spot on. I can't see Bale becoming the goal machine that Ronaldo became, but he will be world class for the next 5-6 years and would be a good investment for any big club.

Bale's been great, but Ronaldo of '08 was different level. I've no doubt that Bale can reach that level though.

I have doubts, Ronaldo is on another level. Maybe though.

Why can't Madrid groom Bale into their shiny new galactico and give us our Ronnie back?

I'm going to wait until Bale can consistently tear up the Champions League too to place judgement on his comparisons with Ronaldo. I for one do not believe he will ever reach it, but I know nothing of the future and a lot can change in the next 5-6 years.

Ronaldo was better than Bale is now at that time I agree. If he reaches his full potential that is the type of player you imagine Bale will be. He is already one of the league's best players and will only improve.

At any age Ronaldo > Bale. Bale partisans couldn't possibly argue with that.

However, if we had to settle for Bale I'd have no objection whatsoever. But I don't think it's going to work out that way. We may have to settle for Zaha as our superstar winger and who knows how that will work out?

How many days are there left in the transfer window? How many tens of millions of words will be written in dozens of languages over the next 10 or so weeks speculating about who we're going to bring in?

I wish people would stop comparing Bale to Ronaldo. They're not even close.

They have different strengths, as it stands Bale is not even close... Ronaldo on a technical level is streets ahead but Bale's long range shooting is more efficient i.e. he seems to mishit far less shots to the naked eye and his passing is arguably better too. In addition to this, Bale seems to be able to burst past players and remain on his feet - when he chooses not to dive, so he has excellent balance whereas Ronaldo doesn't always maintain his dribble once he's been touched... but this isn't always the case to be fair - he's improved alot in this regard and his big match performances have gone up a notch.

Also Ronaldo's been alongside Messi the world's most marked man and still come up trumps in the toughest competitions in club football, Bale hasn't received that level of attention yet.. so we'll see just how good he really is.
