Leaving aside any sentimental stuff, he's an absolute destroyer of other teams. The one player who could win the PL for any top-six team (IMO); he's that deadly.

True. Though for that money we could 2 quality players.

Was going to say "even for Liverpool?" but then I remembered that they finished 7th

We can make up the money easy, especially if Nike are in on the deal. Those glasses though, seriously.

Can't see how him, Rooney and RVP would fit in the same team, never mind Hernandez who I would hate to lose. Ronnie coming back would be great in one way, but am kind of mindful of that Mark Twain quote about how you can 'never come home twice'. Hope he could prove an exception.

But the first time he came here, he wasn't "coming home" because he was brand new to us, to England, and in some ways still brand new to football (he was 17!).

This time would be the first time he's "come home".

I may have been massacring Twain there, but you know what I mean!

err...we'd have to score 5 a game because the keeper has very little protection there! No defensive/shielding midfielders, 2 fullbacks that like to bomb foward

I heard that the club shop won't print Ronaldo 7 on shirts because the club don't own the image rights.

They don't own the image rights to Graham 69 either but it doesn't stop them printing it.

Muppet overload - That would be some free flowing football! Joga Bonito!!

No Carrick though :(

Yeah I know. I felt a bit bad about not having him in there.

We'll score 10 a game

Why are we so desperate to get him back? If he comes (which I doubt) great if he doesn't oh well. I still don't like the way he handled himself when he was leaving here. He should stay at Madrid and see it out or he will just seem like a quitter. I thought it was is 'dream club' I don't even think he wants to come back.

I don't want him back, even though I hope he does well at Real Madrid. He has had his time here, and the way he handled himself to get the move was terrible. It seems as though he is going to try and do the same thing with Real Madrid. His dream club, yet if he doesn't get the salary he thinks he deserves, he will leave. I don't like that in a player, no matter how good they are. When you think of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was willing to take his chances and play when he came off the bench, you know that he had the best interests of Manchester United in him, Ronaldo on the otherhand...

I agree with that Steve, however, we have the one player who is capable of helping us win the Premier League, and that is RVP. We have won the PL on numerous occasions, and if Ronaldo is as good as you say he is, then he should come back and take us to Champions League glory.

I disagree. He'd be the deciding factor between United, City & Chelsea. He wouldn't carry Arsenal, Spurs or Everton to the title. If he's that good why did his team finish 15 points off 1st place in a two-team league despite taking 4 points from 6 against the team that finished above them?

I don't mind him trying to get what he is worth, it is his career and he needs to get as much out of it as possible finance wise. Fans I think forget that at times it's just like somebody in their job lobbying for higher wages because they think they deserve more, I would prefer some did it with more class but it is what it is. I think his era here has been written WPOTY and Champions League winner along with three league titles. An amazing player but I think we should take what he did here and leave it at that. Too much of a circus with him at times. All his problems at Madrid will be solved with more money which I think he will get it. People forget he was worst than Rooney when he wanted to leave just shows fans can be fickle at times. He really was a twat in his last season.

Believe me, I criticised both Rooney and Ronaldo for the way they handled their business. A few thought I had an agenda against Rooney or Ronaldo, and they were right. I support the team, not the flavour of the month, the star of the show. Manchester United is bigger than Rooney, bigger than Ronaldo, even bigger than Messi. It is the club that I have supported all my life and the way I saw Rooney treat us to get his own way, the way Ronaldo saying that he was a "slave", well, it was effectively the last straw and to be honest, I couldn't care less if they had left at that time. The way some fans treat Rooney though compared to Ronaldo, it is pretty disgusting to be honest. They are both looking to secure their futures so I don't see why one is treated like shit and the other like some God. They are players, plain and simple.

Don't think that would be a problem with that lineup. Heck, we can even push De Gea and Rio forward to get some goals. They were strikers in their younger days and all that? And let's be realistic here, we would have Vidic at the back. I don't think anyone gets past Vidic. :D

He was a twat the season before his last. But Fergie said Ronaldo agreed to give United one more season before he left. He gave good solid performances in his last season and was professional. I have no complaints. Compare that to Rooney, who asked for a transfer as a negotiating tactic then got the contract he wanted but still put in inconsistent, half arsed efforts, and now we're in the same situation where he's asking for a transfer again and still putting in half arsed efforts. I think Rooney's worst.

Rooney does not act like Ronaldo did on the pitch at the time or come out making statements like Ronaldo did. What is this talk of 'giving one more season' he was talking about being a slave etc his last year here. He did not conduct himself well. You could tell he did not want to be here his body language was awful. Openly showing disgust at teammates on the pitch. Rooney handles his business behind closed doors. Ronaldo was worst people will forget because he is a better play.

So Rooney doesn't show his disgust at team mates? He basically called his team mates out when he asked for the transfer the first time. And you don't see him shouting at Nani all the time? As far as I'm concerned, Fergie was pleased with what Ronaldo gave to us even during his last season while he couldn't be fecked about Rooney just before he retired. That says alot for me.

The way Ronaldo is treating Real Madrid is exactly the same as what Rponey did with us. He is holding them to ransom to get what he wants. So, just because he is a better player than Rooney, that doesn't give him more rights to treat clubs as he does.

I honestly can't be bothered what he's doing with Madrid. There are strong suggestions that he hasn't signed the contract not because of the money but because of the lack of support he recieved at the Ballon D'Or. Either way, I'm only comparing their time at United. For me Rooney is a bigger cnut than Ronnie. I would rather trust Fergie's judgement on the two players than anyone else's. Rooney was dropped for asking for a transfer and for his half arsed efforts. Ronnie wasn't even when he wanted to go.

Nani seriously? That is what you are coming with. How many times has he even played this season? Ronaldo is a better player so he gets more leeway but he handled himself no better than Rooney. In 2010 Fergie didn't have a leg to really stand on because we needed Rooney letting him go would not help the team. We were a better team with Ronaldo so Fergie took his crap.

Yes I'm coming up with Nani since you brought up the pettiness on the field issue. Also, I don't mind players having a go at each other on the field as it shows abit of passion. I loved it when Keano did it, and I like it when Rio does it from time to time. It shows the high standards that players have/want to have from both themselves and their team mates.

Also doesn't the bolded bit mean the same thing? Fergie took Rooney's crap and gave in to his demands because we were a better team with him in it, just as how 'he took Ronaldo's crap (according to you)' because we were a better team with him. So what's your point exactly?

Good Lord!! Lack of support he received at the Ballon D'Or. He got trounced by Messi for the 4th consecutive time. Whether he had support or not is totally irrelevant. Rooney is only a bigger cnut, because he has never scored 42 goals in a season, never won the Ballon D'Or etc etc etc. I think the fact that he was born in Merseyside may go against him in this argument. For me, they are both the same. Or, playing it your way, then Ronaldo is worse than Rooney because he hasn't done it with one club, but is currently doing with Real Madrid too.

You've never heard of that suggestion going around? That Madrid gave Casillas more support than Ronaldo and he wasn't pleased with that and that's the reason why he isn't signing? I honestly don't care if Rooney was born in Merseyside; you're clutching at straws by trying to bring this in (on the flipside him being English should give him more leeway). Either way, I'm done with this conversation as I've had many of these Rooney vs Ronaldo ones in the past before and it keeps going round and round. I'll just say that I wouldn't care if Rooney goes, but I would certainly care if Ronaldo comes back. :D

To compare Rooney having a go at Nani to Ronaldo constantly flapping his arms and rolling his eyes the whole year is like comparing a drizzle to a rainstorm completely different things. Rooney is a good teammate and he works hard even when things are not going well for him. Ronaldo acts like a baby. He did it here and he is doing it at Madrid. When shouting is done for the good of the team it is fine, but Ronaldo's was always followed with the eye roll and the arm flapping it was all ego. Don't mention Keane and Rio because they did it in different ways to Ronaldo. Keane and Rio wanted you to get your finger out of your arse and do your job. Ronaldo was being a baby because he did not go to Madrid? He didn't show the club he had been at 6 years a lot of respect at the time. He wanted to go to Madrid and he didn't care who he offended.

The bolded bit: You said the fact that Ronaldo was still playing proves that he was could not have been as bad as Rooney. My point was after what Rooney did in 2010 he still played because he was the best we had it doesn't mean what he did was not tasteless. Ronaldo kept playing because we had nobody better he was still a cnut at the time. Rooney not playing now is because we have better players. Rooney has been no saint but Ronaldo was worst and people forget that when they are so desperate for him to come back. He can stay in Madrid I will be happy. His united career should be left closed.

The fact you see a big difference between how Ronaldo acted and how Rooney acted just shows how fickle fans are. Ronaldo will get the preferential treatment and benefit of the doubt because he is a better player. Not because he conducted himself better or for any other reason.

Like I said, I'm done with this Rooney vs Ronaldo comparison, so I'm not going to provide you with a reply to that (even though I have one).

I'm only concerned with one thing now: When is he coming back? :D

I'm sorry but how is that any better? Being a selfish idiot and showing massive disrespect to your spanish teammates who just won an international tournament and then publicly stating that he's sad after acting like a drama queen on the pitch? I would have been furious as a fan. If Ramos comes out and says Casillas deserves the Ballon D'or, Ronaldo expects his club to officially announce it should be him instead? Are you kidding?

You are basing your impression of what Ronaldo is like as a team mate based on the 90 minutes you see each week. What fans don't see is the vast majority of the time players spend together in training etc. I don't remember hearing any negative comments about Ronaldo from his United team mates - players like Rio still obviously keep in touch with him - as does SAF.

Judging players reactions during a match is probably not an accurate representation of how they are as team mates.
