The Sun are going all out on this one!

Yes!!! Great news! Huge signing! He's one of the best players in the world, this can only be good news for us.

Ha, that's very ballsy of the Sun in fairness. Like, not a hope it's true; but they look like bigger spastics than usual this way.

Would we really spend 68 million quid on a 28 year old? I'm thinking no.
To be honest, I think we can make up that money. Sponsorship deals, merchandise and the prize money for winning trophies. I think he can lead us to more premier league trophies and help us advance further into the Champions League. On top of all this, it will help Moyes transition easy with the pressure not being on him to perform so much since Ronaldo will be contributing so much towards winning games.

We can make up the money easy, especially if Nike are in on the deal. Those glasses though, seriously.

Can't see how him, Rooney and RVP would fit in the same team, never mind Hernandez who I would hate to lose. Ronnie coming back would be great in one way, but am kind of mindful of that Mark Twain quote about how you can 'never come home twice'. Hope he could prove an exception.

Ronaldo plays on the wing? I dont think integrating him into our team is a problem at all. Looks like Nani will leave. Young is shit and will only be a squad player. Kagawa and Rooney can rotate. Zaha and Valencia can rotate on the right.

Young------Welbeck------Zaha

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is confident Cristiano Ronaldo will soon commit his long-term future to the club.

The Portuguese superstar has been reluctant to discuss an extension to his current contract, sparking speculation that he could soon be on his way out of Santiago Bernabeu - with a return to Manchester United widely touted.

Real are, however, convinced that Ronaldo has no desire to leave the Spanish capital and is merely biding his time before agreeing fresh terms.

Perez told Marca: "I am going to be as clear as possible. My aim, Cristiano's aim, and the aim of all Real Madrid fans is that he carries on playing here for many years to come.

"When so many people want the same thing, then it usually turns out to be the case. I myself and Real Madrid both want that.

"The player, Cristiano Ronaldo, also wants that. Without a shadow of a doubt, that is what Cristiano wants too.

"We are always talking with him. If you are asking me if we've talked about money, then the answer is no because the time isn't right yet. That will have to wait until after he comes back from holiday."

Great player

Perez feels talk of a possible move for Ronaldo has been wildly exaggerated, with the 28-year-old still tied to Real until 2015.

He added: "We want him and what is more we already have him. He has two years left on his contract. Anyone would think he was leaving tomorrow. What we would like is for him to stay even longer.

"The future of our project revolves around him. Teams always depend largely on one great player. At one time it was (Alfredo) Di Stefano, later on it was (Zinedine) Zidane. Now it is clear the focus is on Ronaldo. There is nothing better than having the best player in the world in your team.

"We believe Ronaldo will go down in the club's history as being on a par with Di Stefano."

In all seriousness I'd stick my house on at some point next season (after he inevitably signs a new contract Madrid) that moron Ian McGarry touting around that the deal was really really definitely actually for sure close to happening only for it to be snatched away at the last minute.

Sweet Jesus.

If he promises to sport them specs on the pitch I'd say he's worth it. The hair needs to go, though. Everything falls into place, now that I think about it: We buy Ronaldo for 60M and Fellaini's hair for a cool twenty. That's roughly what Real gave us for him back in the day. It's Karma, motherfeckers.

I doubt it.... but would the sponsors? I also doubt it.

I can't see him leaving Madrid, I've thought all along that this is all just a protracted contract negotiation.

Hopefully he doesn't sign a new contract and we take him on a free in 2 years time, or get him for £30m next year. Win win.

Since when have Madrid struggled to offer ridiculous money to thier players? Isnt thier usual mo to throw money at any problems rather than lose thier best player, and one of the only thing they have got going for them right now?

Mark Hughes didn't do too badly when he came back and that's the only player I remember us signing back after selling, off the top of my head.

Why are we so desperate to get him back? If he comes (which I doubt) great if he doesn't oh well. I still don't like the way he handled himself when he was leaving here. He should stay at Madrid and see it out or he will just seem like a quitter. I thought it was is 'dream club' I don't even think he wants to come back.

Why are we so desperate to get him back?

Leaving aside any sentimental stuff, he's an absolute destroyer of other teams. The one player who could win the PL for any top-six team (IMO); he's that deadly.
