Cristiano Ronaldo | Transfer Speculation

70m wouldn't even get you Morata.

If Ronaldo is to be sold, it'll be upwards of 100m.

Then I'm still far from convinced that it's a worthwhile investment. I get excited and momentarily am persuaded, but then I realise this is not FootaballManager, its real life, and such an investment for a 32 1/2 year old is sheer lunacy.

It's Ronaldo ffs. It's not any 32 year old.

Ronaldo clearly playing brinkmanship between United and Madrid.

Am not saying he won't come, as Madrid may call his bluff, but I think this is his bi-annual 'prove you love me' charade with Madrid.

If Madrid does decide to discard him, we should not pay any more than £70m for him.

This could be the crux of the issue here. It did cross my mind when he scored those two goals in the final and adding all the other goals in the semis etc. This was Ronaldo's dream Champions League win, perhaps all our dreams to be that important in winning the trophy, a stark contrast to the 2014 final, his histrionics getting that 4th irrelevant showed to us all how desperate he wants to lauded. His stats deserve it and so does his performances this season so I wondered what would come next have after moving heaven and earth for them.

Would madrid find it easier or more difficult to win champions league with Ronaldo or without him? Ronaldo can come to us or PSG win the champions league next season and prove how great he is on his own. I think Ronaldo would be more satisfied with that.

Winning three CL in a row would be absolutely huge even if it's easier with Madrid

I know but long term injuries and rapid decline due to age worry me. Huge risk and so not worth more than £60-70m

So Morata, Belotti, Lukaku are all worth more?

I think we could actually sign him this summer and I think the figure we'd pay would be lower than the sensationalist media are claiming. I think 60 - 80 million would get him. People underestimate the power players and agents have over theirs clubs in this day and age. If he really wants to leave then I'm sure him and Mendes would make it difficult for Madrid to do keep hold of him.

I don't really care if he doesn't come because I see this story every summer and I'm open to the fact he may well be angling for an improved contract.

So when he stays at Madrid, having used his association with Utd to strengthen his hand for the second time (having actually fecked off and given his best years to Madrid), will Rooney still be given a harder time, and be considered to have tarnished his legacy while Ronaldos legacy remains unblemished?

I can't agree with Eyepopper any more. While he was here he openly flirted with Madrid, compared being here to being a slave, uses us for his own gain and yet he's held in a higher regard than players who've achieved more at this club.

If he doesn't come back now, it's finished. No more romance from me.

Before I read this "wow" of yours, I also had the exact same reaction when I read his post. Just wow though. I can't believe that Ronaldo is not worth more than 60m-70m but the likes of Lukaku, Belotti and Morata are worth more than that.

Even 32 years old Ronaldo is stil better than combined of Lukaku, Belotti and Morata. He's a world class player and the best player on the planet right now. The amount of things that he can offer to club as a 32 years old in 3 years are a lot!! (Experience, winning mentality, goals, leadership, and a good professionalism example/mentor for young player).

Real won't dare to make straight swap with Ronaldo to one of Lukaku or Belotti right now. No chance!

Given age and potential and future sell on fee, yes. Just my opinion

I agree with your opinion 50-60m is what we should pay for him due to his age and future sell on value which will not happen so he can stay at RM and they can deal with that distracting problem during their campaign.

A few things....

1) saying that he feels Real Madrid have not done enough to support him... he is absolutely 100% correct. Spain needs to get their collective shit together and treat this guy with respect. He generates more revenue then anybody else there by far.
2) having just watched his movie.. I have to say the guys dedication and desire to be appreciated oozes from him. He gives and demands respect.

Agreed. Pointless to debate I know but it's mental how some people would rather see him pay his taxes to the state rather than just being okay with living on the same planet as He, the divine one. It's a weird world we live in.

Anyway, I'm not expecting him to return. Brinkmanship in its purest form.

Have you seen the insane tax rates in Spain? I'd want to hide my money too, it's a fecking joke how much the government takes

What's so wow?

One of the top 2 players in the world right now is less expensive than 3 players that even if they surpassed their potential would not get to the level he's at. Or will be at even if he declines slightly over the next few years.

If you had said you just didn't believe he was worth the fee and no one was then I could sort of understand what you was saying. But to actively think promising young players are worth more than one of the greatest ever players is crazy.

This guy isn't Rooney. He's in a physical shape most players don't get to in their prime and has the devotion to keep himself in that shape for at least a few years yet.

Exactly.

I am with you here. Just amazed by that logic. A top top player would normally be considered invaluable aka his club wouldn't doing accounting stuff about sell on fee. What they want is he perform, & his commercial value that player can bring in, which is worth than any transfer fee at the top of foot chain. Ronaldo from us to Madrid proved this.

Thinking about stuff like sell on fee is the small time mentality belongs to second rate club. Instead of trying to maximize the "top" talent in their hands & boost the whole revenue, they look to make quick cash then make do with uncertainty replacing the top talent. What often be the case that the combination of uncertainty ended up eat up the profit from the top talent, & no improvement from the team.

DO NOT WANT though. There would be a lot of shuffle in planning if having Ronaldo now which can influence long term & I don't think Real Madrid would sell.

Yes. Lukaku may at the end of his career has more expensive combined transfer fee; his next club may even make a profit when the time is due to sell him... It doesn't mean Lukaku would in football history be a more success than Ronaldo's hypothetical next move in case Ronaldo maintain his form for just couple seasons.

Lukaku relies on pace and power, with little finesse and has already had around 5 years top level experience - how many years left as a top striker does he have?

Mirror guys should fix it to:
£175m + de Gea + 1000 Chevrolet Impalas + unlimited access for Real Madrid personnel to Eysturland Lodge spa in Klaksvík on Faroe Islands

If you want to top other bullshitters in the bullshit business you've got to dig more bullshit out of your laboured brains you numbskulls.

Where else is he going to live and go to school?

Is that not the case for every player who gets transferred?

I don't think he'll join but the bolded part tells us nothing.

People make Manchester to be be Chelyabinsk or similar:) Where would his son go to school?

Let me think, Manchester?

Seriously, so there worth more than Messi too I take it?

They're quoting Di Marzio.

Anyway, it's hilarious seeing people say Ronnie's only worth 50-60

You need to check back a few pages, anything more than £20-£30m would be humiliating

I still think this is just a diversion attempt by Ronaldo's camp to take the media away from his tax avoidance.

Who? Ronaldo or Lukaku. I don't know myself for either Just saying some mega star like Ronaldo can make huge commercial impact on the club which can pretty much worth it.

There is no guarantee Lukaku may make the next step neither or have prolonged career. His progression is not as fast as his early promise indicates. Any signing is a gamble. As stated above, mega star gives a little lee way on the commercial side.

It's more that things have to be consistent. We sold our iconic #7, Beckham, when he was not wanted by the management. If Ronaldo wants to leave, Real has to take the same logic and let us have him at £32M + inflation. And don't tell me the inflation is going to put that at £130M or whatever crazy number. Double, why not.

Not that it matters at all given the obvious plot happening here but still.

Edit; inflation in Spain since 2003... no triple here.

I think these people use a similar system to journalists just with the opposite mentality. Journalists go overboard these people go waaay under.

Plucking numbers out of thin air that you'd have struggled to sign him for a year after he left Sporting.

Exactly and what year was that

Ronaldo type of profile has no price. What would it cost to buy Messi from Barca? Answer is, you can't buy Messi from Barca.

But if Ronaldo is hell bent on leaving, he will cause absolute chaos at Madrid if they don't sell him. It's not like a normal transfer where we go to Madrid and try to buy Morata who prefers to stay where he is and the club would rather keep him unless a crazy offer comes in. If Ronaldo is refusing to play at Madrid next season then there's nothing Madrid can do except sell him or keep a very angry prima Donna in the dressing room while watching his value fall.

Ronaldo must also agree to join the club they sell him to.

I wouldn't be shocked if Ronaldo moves for far lower fees than most of us think he's worth.

Atleast we've come up from 20-30mil to 60-70mil. Perez would still probably fall off his chair laughing at the offer but feck him, he's a cnut anyways.

True. I don't think he will move for anything above 100m pounds. My guess is around 90m, enough to break the world record fee to kind of satisfy his ego of being the most expensive player again and especially if he only wants to return to Old Trafford for a hero's return. This may seem like a loss when taken into account we sold him for 80m, but people who are still stuck in that era must realise that in today's market, that 80m is something like 150m today - all the transfer prices have doubled. However, I still believe that we need to get our other targets in first, like Morata and maybe another midfielder, before we start pursuing Ronaldo and start losing sight of our other targets. Not sure why others are saying that getting Ronaldo means we do not need Morata - Ronaldo is NOT a striker and expecting him to play the lone striker role for us is a recipe for disaster. Get the spine of our team right first, before we go for the extravagance.

So people think we must pay 100mn plus for a 32yr old, who we sold for 80mn when he was 24.

Because the economy was the same when he was 24.

It's like some people live under a rock or something
Did the current economy turn him into a benjamin button, because he will still be a 32 year old on 700k by the way.

a Man Utd&CR7 reunion would make zero sense.

PSG seems to be the ideal fit, the ideal remaining challenge for him. The Qataries have been begging for Champions League glory. PSG needs winners. There have been rumors around Pepe. Buy CR7 and sign Pepe and that would give them the grit they have been missing.

On this particular Man Utd team : Morata&Lukaku>>>> CR7 in regards to 'fit'
Mou and CR7 reunited now?, I cannot see it happening...let's keep building with younger players (IceMan, Morata, (Dier)...)
