I think he and LvG would work well together. There may be a bit of anxiety that both would butt heads a bit because LvG can be a hardliner and Ronaldo is much more independent these days, but imo if he could work under Fergie, he can with LvG as well. In fact I think it would do Ronnie good to get a bit more structure with an experienced manager.

But SAF always gave his superstars more freedom than the rest of the squad. All the way since Bryan Robson, through Cantona and Becks to a certain point (Becks broke the thresshold eventually as we all know) and also with Ronaldo.

With LVG you are a slave under his system, it seems to me. He is also much more plain honest to media. SAF always protected his players in public whilst LVG just says how he sees it.

LVG is also a very good manager but I am not so sure he would have as good relationship wih Ronaldo as SAF had.

I don't think LvG is any less or more strict than Fergie was. It may seem like it now because of the Valdes affair and all that, but they are more or less similar.

Say we signed him for £65million that's:

Signed for £12m in 2003
Signed for £65m in 2015 = £77m on buying this player

Sold for £80m in 2009 = £80m received on this player = £3m profit + all the money already won from trophies won, plus future trophies he would win and the huge amount of shirts he would sell.

He would be worth a club record deal even now he is over 30. However, I don't see Real Madrid selling him atall and he will want to stay and break the goalscoring record there. Plus, MEN are talking shit.

Won't happen. I believe there are more unlikely transfers that have happened in the past though.
There's no way you're getting Ronaldo for 65m.

I think they are different in their approach.

LVG:a judgement of Valdes is to some extent like SAF:s judgement of Marc Bosnic.

LVG said that Schweinsteiger played really bad in his 2nd game, which he also said was not so shocking after a holiday. SAF would not have expressed himself like that IMO.

I also think LVG is more pedant about details in everyday training than SAF was.

That's probably more down to their public persona and how they deal with the media than how they deal with players in private. They strike me as tough disciplinarians who don't take anything from lazy or sulking players, whilst simultaneous caring about them as human beings and attempting to develop their human qualities.

Reuniting Rooney and Ronaldo would be great fun. They were a magnificent partnership, even at 21-23. If only there was the remotest chance of this happening...

Insane to think he was doing this at 21/22 years of age.
With regards to the new rumours it's been two years since he's signed a new deal so I'm sure Mendes is doing his best to get him another extension.

That margin will be lesser if Ronaldo is playing in premier league.
Don't know about that. He scored 31 goals in 34 games in the premier league as a 22 year old in 07/08 and he's only gotten better since. And the english game was arguably more physical back then. Most recently Suarez scored 31 goals in 33 games. I can see Ronaldo scoring 40 goals in PL now provided he stays fit and plays every game.

If this did happen, it'd be a massive statement of LVG's short-term intent - signing the two best 30 year-olds in Europe in the same summer!

Not got any problem with that btw - if it won us trophies over the next two season, it'd be proven entirely the right way forwards. And I trust LVG to be paying attention to the long term at the same time.

Like guys who wake up everyday wishing they could have their ex back, after she fecked off to be with the better looking, richer, and more successful friend. Hoping that one say they'll split up and she'll come crawling back.

Ronaldo won more honours here than at Madrid. It's not like Suarez to Liverpool.

How would we line up?!

whitetextlolRooney
aRonaldo - Memphis - Mata?

That's if LVG really does see Memphis as a 10, not sure if he will going forward. If that isn't an exciting front 4, I don't know what is.

Paddy Crerand said the other night that he thinks Ronaldo will never come back as he hates the weather here. He is pretty close to him so I believe him, unfortunately :( I'll never give up though.

It's absolute nonsense ofcourse but still: Rooney, Ronaldo, Depay, Mata up front......

Perhaps something was lost in translation? Ronaldo can't understand what Paddy is saying any better than the rest of us.

I can see them now, best friends, neither has any idea what the other is saying on the other end, they both get to talk about themselves at length, it's a win-win.

Haha yeah but I reckon Paddy is constantly on at him to come back whenever he sees him. 'No, old man. Too rain.'

As Marcos would say

You are all idiots if you think there is even a tiny chance of this happening

My guess:

It would be the end of Herrera though since you need two midfielders who can defend based on the pure attackingroles of at least 3 of the front 4.

It was his best season for us IMO, even better than the next one in which he nearly doubled his goals amount. He was extremely creative and exciting to watch, then he transformed himself into a goalscoring machine that was very efficient but not as easy on the eye.

Paddy also said the other night to expect a big suprise in the next 10 days....

MEN are as reliable as Express and Metro......This breaking story is incredibly laughable

They have actually been quite good this summer but when you read the article, you can see that there is nothing concrete happening. United are just interested in resigning Ronaldo, which has probably been the case since he left...

If we resign Ronaldo this summer I will change my name by deedpoll to Gary Glitter.
I will then make an online, government tracked donation to ISIS after googling hardcore gay porn and leaving it open on the tab of my sisters laptop.

We'd probably have a parade or something just for him if he comes back. More people would turn up than when City had their title parade...

Just replying here for future reference (just in case :D )

I guess changing your usual plans is silly, even if we sign Ronaldo.

But when this better looking, richer and more successful lad cheats on you with a monkey, you're bound to get frustrated.

Lets just agree to disagree then.
