Very sad but also true, statistically there'll be other players like that. A footballer is in a unique position because you can hire help full time where most of us have to go through life without help.

It's hard to lose a child, and it must be very hard for him and Georgina the grieving process will last a very long time. But we need to also remember Ronaldo wanted to leave in the summer, I don't think he planned on coming back to United at all.

Ronaldo was hoping he got the transfer in the summer so he could do his "tell all interview" in September.
That's my read too. To be fair, there are very few men that manage to stay grounded when they reach that level of fame. He'll be surrounded by sycophants telling him this was a great idea, and he really nailed it, and the United fans are totally behind him, not ETH.

Could we sack him? He's currently employed by us, on a salary that is very much the opposite of small, and he goes and does that, undermining everything ETH is trying to do with fixing the absolute rot that had set in.

I'm not surprised he doesn't like ETH, because he's probably now being treated exactly all the other players and hasn't been placed on a pedestal because of who he is, given free rein to do whatever he wants (something I suspect Ole did). He's not being picked solely based on his name and his performances on the whole have been miles below his best so he's not getting picked on those either.

He's supposed to be a senior player, a former captain of many clubs, and he's spitting the dummy out. He's supposed to be setting an example to the younger players but instead he's throwing his weight around and behaving like a petulant child because he's having to earn his place and not running the show

Remember one of SAF's greatest sayings that there's no one bigger than the club....

This must be addressed if we want make clear the expectations at the club.

I'm not sure both are related, Cantona didn't refuse to play or stink up the place.

He listened to SAF.

Ronaldo being a dick has been known since his Madrid days with Perez.

Cantona has done both, multiple times during his career.

It's heavily dedicated to youth football. I'd say close to 3/4 of the complex is designed for ages from under 6 to under 21.
The pitches are designed to get the best out of each age group. They have classrooms dedicated to youth football with state of the art technology to help the kids develop on and off the pitch.

Their gym sh*ts all over Uniteds. The equipment is similar but the set up is very different. It's hard to explain but it feels more professional.
You can tell the entire complex cost alot of money. It really is incredible.

Even their 7k stadium is as impressive as any I've seen.
Thanks :)

You often hear their facilities mentioned as outstanding and awesome, but I could never quite grasp what that means for training facilities

And they can barely produce decent youth players. While United and their derelict facilities do it fairly regularly. :D

Yes, but we're talking about whether the player is a cnut before we sign them. Cantona at Leeds was butting heads with the manager. Point being, sometimes players and managers don't get along. Players might feel like the club aren't doing enough to challenge so they act like a cnut. Sort of like Rooney did when his contract was up for renewal.

Ronaldo has always been a dick. He was a dick the first time he played for United, but he put up results on the pitch. His issue now is that he's got nothing to backup his dick-ish personality and he knows it.

Dalot has his own PR troubles to worry about. Or was that deliberate :smirk:

Different times maybe?

Of course a player should never disrespect their manager. But it's one thing to do it behind closed doors, and another to do it in an interview that will be seen globally by anyone interested in football.

Disagreements happen between players and managers, that's fairly normal. And some of the best players ever have been fairly temperamental at times - also normal. Publicly stating that you do not respect your team or manager in an interview really isn't

What's the state of the art technology that helps them inprove on and off the pitch that United don't have?

I'm not being pedantic here. I'm genuinely interested in specifics as you never hear them.

Same with how the pitches are designed to get the best of each age group. What does that mean?

A laboratory?

Bore off, unfortunately hes made the few remotely interested in him less interested in him for being a cnut.

Hope his world cup is horrific and he ends his career playing for missosipi jets or something.

Yeah I mean end of the day you're training kids to play football, not build fusion reactors :D

In general people and certain clubs are full of it. The nations that produce the best players on a regular basis do not have state of the art facilities, they have facilities that are good enough for Football and focus on having the right people teaching and scouting players.

The only actual reason you want state of the art facilities is to lure players and staff with comfort, essentially these people wants to be pampered and surrounded with luxury but if something bad happens, like lets say a serious injury the players are almost always sent away, that includes City and their great facilities.

??? Bastian did nothing like Ronaldo has done, as he was just shunted out of the team for no particular reason by Mourinho. And Mourinho actually owned up to his mistake by drafting Bastian back into the side again and played him.

Ronaldo is totally done at the club. He can just not show up after the World Cup and extend his time off due to 'injury'. Endings are usually messy and this has just taken on a whole new life. It's shameful from Ronaldo and his camp. fecking tit he is now and he's taken so poorly to the fact that his time at the highest end clubs with all to play for don't want or need his services on their terms.
Oh I know and agree he didn’t do anything wrong,it was more of a lose term for Ronaldo to be banished.

Smaller pitches for the younger teams. Game-changer.

Ronaldo and Morgan is actually doing us a favour. Everyone now know that we deal with a narcissist with a small penis. Erik will be a lot stronger after this. We are not a better team with him and we never have to play him again. We can go after a better striker in January if we find someone available.

We are getting so much attention now and tbh, it’s only United who can get so much attention. Bad or good, it’s perfectly normal.

Good riddance, Ronaldo.

So the latest clip (just on TalkTV now) explains something: he didn't do the pre-season because his 3 month old baby daughter had bronchitis and was in Hospital - but he alleges that the club (he mentions the Club President and Sporting Directive) didn't totally believe him.

If true, that is not great from United.... Souness now saying United will deny this, they have to.

Cantona has done it on the field and during tv interviews, he went as far as calling Henri Michel, a bag of crap. Cantona's fortune was that he had three people loving him as a player, Houllier, Platini and Jacquet which were the three most important figure in the FFF at the time, they convinced him to no retire and go abroad, specifically in England.

He really doesn't know when to shut up, does he?

That one is confusing, he was allowed to miss preseason for personal reason. What more was expected from the club?

As if Dalot would risk his United career cause he is close to Ronaldo. And if yes, screw him.

That might be true, unfortunately Ronaldo has no way of proving it. As ETH and United repeatedly stated during pre season that Ronaldo will be integrated after pre season due to some personal issues. It was only the media that questioned it because Mendes was whorring Ronaldo around Europe....

Key word here is Repeatedly, it was mentioned during every single ETH presser during pre season that he is part of the plans and is out for personal reasons.

What does Ronaldo expect ? a bump in salary ? a new statement on the official website that he's not in pre season for personal reasons every morning at 10 am ?

I think that the new information era is showing us more than we wanted to see. That extremly talented individuals, role models to our kids, can be and often are complete dickheads. Giggs, Green...you know who, Ronaldo. Get rid and move on. Not like h e is good anyway, but sad how he destroyed his legacy.

I think it’s clear the club wanted to go in a new direction and despite that they were not particularly keen on allowing Ronaldo to leave and especially if it’s true a couple of members from the top did not even want him it puts in question why they did not just let him go to City. Furthermore his comments about the clubs direction and allegedly their is more said about the glazers are all true.

As for ETH as I said I have no doubt something happened between Ronaldo and him to have him react this way.
Whatever happened you don't go out and publicly say you don't respect the manager. Apparent men who didn't want him, that happened in the summer when City didn't want him not before he joined. In any case it seems whatever he says you'll believe him.

He was a very problematic player before SAF signed him, though
But he loved United & respected SAF for real and never disrespected United

Cantona is not comparable. He’s flaws were mad genius, so occasionally he’d lash out. Ronaldo planned this interview it was a strategic move.

I think his name was put through the mud last season and this whole season and he reached the point where he said feck this im saying my point.

He was celebrated on his arrival. Crowds sang his name every match, whether he was there or not. Ex-players talked about how the inferior players let him down
... And that was this season, when he has been utter shit.

Last season there was all that + POTY. Last season <5-10% of fans criticised him, and all of them online. How on earth was his name dragged through the mud???

Because at the same time, was he not being made available by his agent to leave United? And the lack of transparent communication didn't help anyone now did it. So you're hearing a few things from Ronaldo's camp, a lot from the media, and the club set deadlines on when to show up for their players around pre-season. It's a clusterfeck of a situation and he's just not taking any responsiblity at any level. That's unacceptable. As has already been said, he's trying to act as the victim 100%. There's no compromise and he's going scortched earth.

He took leave whilst his daughter was ill and at the same time started pushing for a move.

I'd be surprised if the club didn't ask a question about why he's being offered to all and sundry.

Had he found a new club he would have joined their training camp, no doubt.

There is not much to deny as it was handled very well by the club. He was given all the time he wanted. That's the only fact, everything else can’t be proven.
