Cantona is not comparable. He’s flaws were mad genius, so occasionally he’d lash out. Ronaldo planned this interview it was a strategic move.

I didn't make any comparison, I responded to the claim that Cantona never misbehaved which isn't true.

So the latest clip (just on TalkTV now) explains something: he didn't do the pre-season because his 3 month old baby daughter had bronchitis and was in Hospital - but he alleges that the club (he mentions the Club President and Sporting Directive) didn't totally believe him.

If true, that is not great from United.... Souness now saying United will deny this, they have to.
Nobody totally believe him, it was Ten Hag and the club the defended his leave of absence.
This was when he was looking for another club, in talks with Chelsea etc and all of a sudden he’s crying off pre season? Why can’t Ronaldo see how bad that looks?

How can they believe him, but not believe him? They gave him the time off, at the time rumour was “family issues” so they gave him time off and respected his privacy by not revealing his issue to the public.

Maybe he expected the SAF “son take as much time as you need family is more important” approach. I agree that would be nice but in multi billion £ business that level of empathy is rare from directors, usually you’ll just get an “ok, when can you return?” Because thats really all the directors care about especially when you’re the most marketable asset. If he went to ETH, he’d have gotten a more empathetic response.

I think it’s clear the club wanted to go in a new direction and despite that they were not particularly keen on allowing Ronaldo to leave and especially if it’s true a couple of members from the top did not even want him it puts in question why they did not just let him go to City. Furthermore his comments about the clubs direction and allegedly their is more said about the glazers are all true.

As for ETH as I said I have no doubt something happened between Ronaldo and him to have him react this way.

It's obvious what happened. ETH quite rightly decided that the team plays better without Ronaldo as a focal point, as backed up by almost every related metric this season. Ronaldo cant handle it...its nothing more, nothing less.

That one is confusing, he was allowed to miss preseason for personal reason. What more was expected from the club?

And he asked for privacy during the time. Meanwhile, United had a global pre-season tour and focused on the players actually training and playing. Did the club have to give a Ronaldo Roundup every week?

EtH has mentioned having direct conversations with Ronaldo and respected that in public, never giving any hot take material.

He got personal time and missed preseason, what the hell does he want more.

What's the state of the art technology that helps them inprove on and off the pitch that United don't have?

I'm not being pedantic here. I'm genuinely interested in specifics as you never hear them.

Same with how the pitches are designed to get the best of each age group. What does that mean?
They have a player care department that caters for all sorts through all different age groups, I believe they also have a school although I've not seen that.

I'm sure United have the same technology but they've never used it at underage level. City youth players wear EPTS from a young age and their performances are shown to the kids after.
Medical and sports science is also taught to the kids at a very young age using modern educational equipment to help explain body shape when running etc. It's hard to explain when I don't really understand the ins and outs of it

The pitches are sized to ensure the right age group benefit from training. 5v5 -7v7 etc.

Edit - What I will say though. United have by far the better coaching staff. They're incredible.

He's not fecking around though. Don't think I've ever seen this before in my life. A player giving an interview while being contracted to the said team and dragging the manager, the facilities, the owners, the management, ex team mates, even the chefs through the dirt.

It's actually incredible. He's lost his mind.

United need to sue here. There's grounds for dismissal without paying a penny and even getting compensation from Ronaldo. Ronaldo has no way of proving what he just said. He was given as much leave as required.

Wtf is going on Graeme fkn Souness now on Piers Morgan to talk about Ronaldo!

He was on Talksport earlier - one of the few speaking in support of Ronaldo.

But half of me thinks it is to use the whole thing as a stick to beat United with - he has just criticised the club for their handling of it.

He spoke incorrectly though - he said United should have done everything they could to 'keep Ronaldo on-side' and to be fair, ETH seems to have tried everything: from calling him out (when he left the matche(s) early) to trying to give him a boost - making him the captain very recently.

I wanted to staff offline today just to avoid seeing certain posts on this Ronaldos situation but everywhere I go, I see and hear some Ronaldo and other club fan talk trash about ETH. I am
Feeling so emotionally angry seeing some fans blaming ETH for handling the Ronaldos situation the way He did.

I can condone the argument about poor investment in the club for the past 10 years

I can condone the argument that we have could have sold him during the summer but I get mad when someone is saying:

1:

That Ronaldo would have been been a regular for this team because he is a GOAT or because of what he has done for us! ( Rubbish, Messi is a far superior player to you)

2:
That Ronaldo was right to say he disrespect our manager! ( You don't come out and say you disrespect your employer)

I am just trying to pour out my anger here. Don't even know what I am typing but what will give me joy right now is for the club to issue a statement this night extending ETH contract by 8 years and thanking Cristiano for all he has done for the club and announce the contract termination citing gross misconduct and contract violation.

Never know I would be this angry about someone I never met

You think United or any Premier League club has 8 year olds running about on full size pitches?

I think everyone packed that in 20 years go.
No. They have large pitches coned off to make them the right size.

Don't think he will be getting a stand named after him, in fact some might want to bury him under one.

This is a player on 500k/week.

 Really? The Club is now only a cash cow for the Glazers.
Glazers are milking United like there's no tomorrow but the club is more than that. It was there before and will be after the Glazers. It's also about fans.

Every great player misbehaves or has an ego. The only one who hasn’t is Messi which is why I genuinely don’t trust him as a person and think there’s something off with him, better the devil you know kind of thing.

Some logic youve got there. Somebody never steps out of line, so dont trust them

If he doesnt accept mutual termination then he can rot in the reserves for the last 6 months of his career. And I do mean the last 6 months.

Glazer section quotes tonight apparently. Imagine these will be much more fan-friendly.

No. They have large pitches coned off to make them the right size.

Seriously?

I’ve been at training grounds for League of Ireland clubs, operating on a fraction of City’s budget and they have dedicated 7v7 and 9v9 pitches permanently marked out for their younger teams.

Visited Benfica’s academy pitches once (which were unbelievably fancy) and they were the same.

Don’t forget they also have the tallest floodlights in the football league.

I was joking.

I can’t think of any rational reason for a pitch to be specially made for different age groups. A good surface is a good surface, at any age.
To he honest I though that as well until my son started training on a purpose built pitch.
I think having an area that was the right size helped him feel more relaxed and certainly developed his game.

It's all a bit vague to me but you're sure United don't do any of this?

Do we still have kids playing 11 a side on full size pitches?

We don't teach kids how to look after themselves which I'm assuming is what you mean by sports science?

It just doesn't sound realistic to me. You'd think we're a Sunday league outfit the way its painted.

What I did hear from Nicky Butt is that we purposely don't make the surroundings too comfortable. The changing rooms for instance won't be a miniature version of the first teams. It'll be a bit more rough and ready.

But you just said they don’t have purpose built pitches? They use a larger pitch and mark out a smaller one on it with cones?

Totally agree that age appropriate pitch size is important but every club does that. How are City’s pitches different? Not being an arse. Genuinely curious here.

He's blaming everyone for judging Ronaldo without the full information, but he's the one keeping it for himself just to get more viewers.

For me this was the icing on yesterday's cake (win over Fulham)

Thank God we won't see Ronaldo for United anymore.
