My point was that he has never done this before, never publicly attacked a club or manager. He has been the model professional his whole career.

Something sparked this and to say “oh it’s because he’s playing bad is a bs answer”.

Something caused him to react this way and the comments about ETH weee not done on a wim.
No he hasn't. Did you skip over his slavery comments? That's as unprofessional as it gets.

Quite how Piers Morgan still has any career after every shady thing he did is beyond me.

It's what celebrities do, they need to create drama for clicks. Just like Katie Hopkins saying shit a long time ago so people learn who she is and what a twat she is.

Piers is the same as most celebs, no ability but they need to ride on the tail feathers of people who accomplished things in their lives to try and get some validation for a few minutes.

I actually think both parties are at fault here and I think releasing this interview right now especially was idiotic by Ronaldo.

What I am defending is that this thread is completely one sided without looking at the very obvious reasoning that their is a lot more to this.

My post was a general comment on the behavior of acolytes in the age of celebrity, and Ronaldo's have been at it since the summer. Unfortunately, you might think you're doing something necessary and even noble but you're essentially doing the work of Mendes PR for him.

100% he is declining or has declined. I am not debating that. His role for Portugal should be coming on in the last 30 minutes because he is the greatest goal scorer the game has ever seen and I still trust him in a big moment.

His role should naturally start to be reduced.
Do you think he would accept that? This is the whole reason he is acting the way he is.

He's turning 38. He declined. That's all it is. All his movements and actions point to a player that has dropped off physically in the classic age way. He's fallen off the cliff.

Just look at how garbage he is for Portugal too. It's not just United.

His legs look really heavily in games and he doesn't move much or do much with the ball, Messi can still pass/dribble he's as good as it gets as a playmaker.

Ronaldo is just a boulder that does nothing in a game.

I remember someone on this forum in the season when Ibra joined, Rooney had fallen off a cliff the year before ability wise. Someone said "his first touch is like if you kick a ball at some bins" and it was a sign of just how bad Rooney had gotten.

One sided? All we’re hearing is one side and that’s the position you’re defending
Look at this

A lot of his points simply aren’t factually true

Russian teams admins on social media are something else :D

The problem is Ronaldo will never accept that reduced role. That's why he's behaving like this for club and country. João Felix's face from the bench during that last game was a picture. Everyone knows he's not earned his place as a starter. Yet he has to play because if he's a sub his behaviour will cause so many issues that it's not worth it.

Glazers
On the Kitchen: "We bought a Black & Decker microwave!"
On the Gym: "WE got a new treadmill in 2014 I have the invoices to prove it!"

A lot of us have lost a child, you have to go on, especially for the sake of the other twin. He is making it about him that is not helping his wife or his children.

Pre-season was only about few months after he lost his child.

Perhaps you're mentally strong that you can go on with life in a few months, but not everyone as strong as you.

The problem with Ronaldo is he doesn't think he has - so is lashing out because he has a reduced role. In his mind - he is one of the best in the world, so a manager not using him as a key player is disrespect and madness. And there lies the problem, and why if he's benched for the national team, it would be a shit show.

He has been a model professional when it comes to keeping himself in shape and doing what he can do be a good as possible footballer, i agree 100%.

I dont feel like he has been a model professional when it comes to beeing a teamplayer. He plays in a teamsport and f.ex comparing his own situation to beeing a slave is just absurd. And its actually publicly attacking the club so he has done that before. Walking out of a match while playing for Juventus the same.

I understand you loves him, and thats fine, we all have our idols. What i dont get is the need to defend him from things that are so easy to prove. He lives his life in the spotlight so saying he is ”without a blimish on his character for 18 years” are just wrong and weakens your other arguments on f.ex the player Ronaldo imo,.

But Perez gave Bale that contract that nearly busted Madrid too
Bale played 5 fantastic seasons at Madrid. Hazard was the real flop. But all clubs have made and will make mistakes when signing players. No one can predict the future.

His whole career he was a great footballer and had every manager bend their rules for him. Because he was worth it as a player. He no longer is. So now he's benched. And he doesn't think he has declined. That's all it is.

Chelsea and Torres was still one of the best

How is the club at fault?
I think it’s clear the club wanted to go in a new direction and despite that they were not particularly keen on allowing Ronaldo to leave and especially if it’s true a couple of members from the top did not even want him it puts in question why they did not just let him go to City. Furthermore his comments about the clubs direction and allegedly their is more said about the glazers are all true.

As for ETH as I said I have no doubt something happened between Ronaldo and him to have him react this way.

Not to pick you up on this, but it's also interesting the word you chose here... "idiotic" by Ronaldo? So not conniving, disrespectful, duplicitous, unprofessional? Idiotic suggests someone too dumb to know any better, whereas what we know that Ronaldo has a team that shapes every public utterance to the betterment of his brand. He thought about the effects of doing this interview, considered the negative consequences it would have on the club that pays his wages, and did it anyway. Idiotic? Cowardly, sure. But he knew what he was doing.

I have a vague memory of him subbing himself off in a game in like 2009, just walked off the pitch mid game and didn’t come back, did that happen?

their defence is upgrades ARE being made to the gym. He was moaning about this a year ago

Of course.

The fans are upset for him saying the truth or hurting their feelings so Now it’s “ohh he’s this and that so of course he would do this”

No basis behind it at all. What he’s said in the little of the interview we’re all correct.

If people believe he sprinkled a lie about the ETH part then wake up. No matter what he’s enemy number 1 now so even if he’s correct which he probably is he will still be wrong to the fans.
Nah he’s a cnut

The guy will have a Lingard at his final season at United kind of year, and when he scores one goal at the very last game he will run to the stands and do SIUUUUUU in complete lack of awareness

The saddest thing about this is that Ronaldo egos clearly got hurt during the Spurs match when he realised he could not contribute as a starter to United at its best.

He could have assessed and left a legend by realising our team would probably be a team that would be in a top 4 fight near the end of the season and there’d be matches where we’d need a goal in the last 20 minutes and he could be that guy to get on the end of things when we start throwing the ball into the box

Any footballer giving interviews to the Sun needs to have a look at themselves. It’s a rag and always has been.
The fact it’s piers Morgan who in addition to being a POS has openly hated United for years, and that publication is especially souring and ill-advised.

Morgan will love the thought of this inflicting damage on United, that’s a guarantee.

See, you say we don't have the full story, and then come out with all that, supposition and hearsay that happens to suit Ronaldo's cause... and it's all "clear", apparently. That's why no one in this thread can take your input seriously on this matter.

Yes and one has been at the tip top level of the sport for 18 years with not even a blemish on his character or with any proof that he would flat out lie while the other has been around for 5 years.

I wonder whose resume on self righteousness or truth holds more value
Not a blemish on his character…? Do you actually believe that?

I am still massively petty and would be more than happy just for him to sit on his yacht for 6 months and waste 6 months of his final years as a player. Yeah it's a cost but would be satisfying

I know logically it makes no sense but would find it funny

It has that ring to it, doesnt it  ?

Meanwhile, Leicester have a whole new training complex and the supposed biggest club in the world has changed some kitchen staff and 'invested' a few k in a couple of plasma TVs.

I get what your saying but the Portuguese tend to be very reactive and hot headed also prideful. I think his name was put through the mud last season and this whole season and he reached the point where he said feck this im saying my point.

He was always going to release this interview but the timing was very poor.

Make him wear the Fred the Red costume at games and spin a giant sign like they do in the states at the side of the road.
