Imagine he has a stormer of a tournament and they take home the prize
Actually could happen he has a good tournament because he hasn’t really been giving 100% for United and should be quite fresh.

Some of the folks keep saying Ronaldo is dumb and hasn’t been advised. That is patently not true. It will not be a straightforward case.
He will argue he is merely saying what others have said re the Glazers.
His attack on the younger players are his opinions only and he said they are a product of the period.
Even his attack on ETH is premised on him being disrespected first.
You can say this is all BS which I agree as his intent is to force an exit, but from a legal standpoint he has defences.

what he said about the young players...nothing that big of a deal as we all know that is relatively true what he said

what he said about the Glazers and what he said about ETH are 100% a breach of contract no matter how you slice it....he probably was advised by someone but it was probably about how does he get out of his current contract and force an exit. what he's wanting to do is push United into trying to push him out so they can come to some sort out payout compromise.

He certainly doesn't need the money. He wants to play in the CL come January, end of story.

What the hell is the point of this latest "statement"?

"Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview.
We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion"
Club loves to do clickbait like Piers Morgan

Good riddance. I hope all his fans follw him out.

I refuse to believe people that create accounts like this (and those following and liking their posts) are adults. If they are then they really are fecking weirdos.

don’t see what United achieve by sacking Ronaldo. It’s Ronaldo who gets what he wants in that situation. He pretty much mentioned that he played his last game at United.

After the respect comments, ETH should keep him at the club. Keep him in the reserves and let him publicly apologise or stay there till the end of the season.

that’s the worst outcome for Ronaldo and that’s what we should give him.

Those are footballing decisions not legal decisions. Lawyers vet / certify documents and offer advise / representation.
*Review and negotiate.

In this instance they will be looking at what equates to breach of contract.

Ronaldo is a egotistical person for all account. He has been paid millions to be a professional. Being professional means you do what your coach tells you to do. Even if it is 89 mins, ETH has the right to get you to the pitch. Do you mean you don't accept being on the bench? If he is not happy about the situation, just tell the club that you want out and agree to mutually terminate the contract. Ronaldo is a smart guy and earn millions thru his image but doing his interview is really a stupid decision. Just can't understand why he did it.

But you don't have a finely detailed contract with your employer.
Definitions of stuff like Gross Misconduct are never finely detailed. The wording is left as vague as possible, with mentions of stuff like repetitional damage, disclosure of confidential information etc.

There’s a standard Premier League player’s contract. Ronaldo might believe he’s bigger than United, but no way is he bigger than the PL behemoth.

It's weird as well how /r/soccer and /r/reddevils seem united in defending Ronaldo. Same on Tik Tok and a lot of the places that are easily swayed by bot farms to push an agenda...

Hmm, I wonder if this is just me being cynical or if there is an effort from the CR7PR team to negate damage by any means necessary...

R/Reddevils is completely against Ronaldo. Has been very similar to Redcafe since the beginning of ETH

Getting a toxic and disruptive player out of the club 6 months earlier than it would have been? Seems quite obvious what we stand to gain really.

Yes and you doubt that because Ole / Jose / Woodward decided to renew a players contact which we should have?

Yes that’s exactly what was intended by the interview. Also wouldn’t sit right with me seeing him go to Arsenal/Chelsea but whatever I guess at this stage.

There's 16m at stake here. That's not irrelevant.

Lawyers act on instructions of their clients. Lawyers are nothing to do with the decision making or value in doing such things.

He was a professional footballer for 20 years, I'm sure he has an idea of things like this. Youtube, and filming himself and all that is new too him, this is what he's done his whole life.

I think you overestimate the intelligence or willingness of footballers to read or comprehend the contracts they sign.

They'd have a team of lawyers and advisors around them telling them what they can and cannot do.

If their agent tells them to sign the contract, they'll sign it.

Look back to when Robinho thought he was signing for United, they're generally either A. This as shit or B. Couldn't give a shit, neither A nor B should give you the confidence of a footballer knowing the finer details of a footballing contract.

On a separate point, Foster playing for Watford is an entirely different contract to Ronaldo playing for Manchester United, no offence to Watford or Foster.

The clubs that can afford him don’t need him. The ones that want to take a chance on him can’t afford him.

Ronaldo’s ego isn’t going to allow him to take a lower wage

IMHO, even if he played for free for Bayern, they'd end up benching/regretting him. Choupo Moting is currently a much better for their needs (Ronaldo would still be asked to press from the front)

Oh I don't doubt he'd be benched sooner rather than later

There’s a load of things but the most important factor for the Glazers is that they get to save on his wages.

He’s a massive toxic storm cloud hanging over the club every day he’s still employed by us going forward. Just his presence will make ten Hag’s task extremely tough.

Loads of rubbish service to be fair , our final ball decision making is poor at moment.
Maybe, but it was worse last year and he still managed to score a goodly number.
Aligned with CR being slower and off his game. It won’t be any different at next club. He’s fit enough but not keen enough any longer
Hmm. I’m sure he genuinely believes that he will up his game and start scoring again when he’s at a club where everyone fawns over him. Good luck to him with that; I just can’t see it.

Used to think it until I saw that man on Sky the other day.
I also had a colleague that supported whatever club Mourinho coached.
I don't understand it.
Crazy times. God knows what football will look like in 10 years time

The feckin replies to that. It's not parody???

These bellends watching a team they don't really support in the hopes that Ronaldo comes onto the pitch at some point. It's a bit pathetic.

They won't have to watch United but they may have to start watching the Saudi League and the Asian champions league.

I don't disagree with everything you have said, the last part is probably true. But I can't stand these kinds of generalizations, he's a functioning adult human, it's an insane conjecture that he could spend 20 years in an industry and not know how it works.

You're basically a grandfather on this site with that join date, we should all be sat on your lap asking war stories. That's why you must surely remember SAF stuck up for the glazers vehemently. The green and gold protests, the red knights, he also put down fan acquisition. We just kind of accepted he was entitled to his opinion
Sad smile.

Even if Ronaldo gets what he wants he'll hardly come out as the winner of this conflict. His reputation has taken a huge blow and things might not be so much better out on the free market. He keeps yapping about how he's not a player you put on the bench, but what genuinely good team would start Ronaldo now?

I don't see how ruining your legacy and getting sacked mid season only to play for a worse team or sit on the bench for another top team is much better. If he had shut up, accepted his age and remained(?) a good influence in the dressing room then he could have left next summer with his dignity and status intact. But this is the problem with narcissists. They are deluded. Ronaldo legitimately believes that he's still a great player and should start for a team challenging for the biggest trophies. Reality is going to hit him like a truck if Chelsea don't take the bait in January.

Meanwhile, we'll be rid of a toxic influence, save some money and look more competent to the outside world.

I read today that United are looking into terminating his contact. Sooner rather than later for me. If the club bow down to him after this then the job is fecked.

I was one of those that was happy he was coming back, but after he went after the manager that was it for me. Feck him hope his career fades into obscurity.
