Cristiano Ronaldo - Much Ado About Al Nassr

If its for last pay cheque + easy life, he should have gone to MLS instead.

What's the difference ? He's going to have more fun playing along Talisca and Abubakar. These are some decent EL/low-CL level players still in their prime. He'd have a good shot at scoring a shitload of goals. For his personal records and his ego, even goals in this shi*t league are gonna count...

The man is 38. How many 38 year olds still play at the highest level?.

He's earned the right to make whatever decision is best for him and his family. We laugh at the man but he could have taken a paycut/sat on the bench for a payday if he was desperate to stay in Europe. I admire that about him at least.

Wish him all the best.
He could take a dump in your living room and you'd admire him for that.

At this point it seems like he just wants to be loved.
He will be worshiped there like a holy relic.

He'd be appreciated at any European club that needs him, had he taken the pay cut required to accommodate their budget...

I really wonder what goes on behind the scenes when signing a player like Ronaldo or maybe a tier lower. I understand
there’s an army of people out there trying to iron out the clauses etc., but reading about terms like “discovery rights”, I’m curious to know what else gets done behind the scenes.

I'm just disappointed this is what our fans and legends wanted to risk our season for. Didn't learn a thing from Ole's departure. Thanks for jeopardizing our Europa campaign and holding our progress in the league.

You people are shallow and don't have the long term vision Ronaldo has. He is preparing himself to win the first ever FIFA World Club Cup in 2025 as AFC Champion League's Champion. This achievement will end all the debate on who is the GOAT.

Come on, this is really not about money at all.

If you can't get glory or prestige because your body is breaking down why not bring home the bag while you can, don't blame him at all in that respect i would do the same and so would everybody else its generational wealth just a shame it ended how it did with United.

Looking at him now, i kind of missed the 18 year old Ronaldo with his maggie hair fringe making his debut at OT who only wanted to impress and play football

I totally agree except that this move happened because no ucl European club wants him. Not out of choice.

shows how stupid the decision to do the interview was.

He burned his bridges with the Club (mostly the owners, though) and his new coach. His teammates seemed Ok with him. We, fans, all wanted him gone as he's not up to our standard, and his existence prevented us to get a new and better striker. So us fans got what we wanted, and he got what he wanted.

I can assure you Ronaldo expected champions league clubs to make offers. He did not get what he wanted. This is essentially a retirement move.

The issue is that he made the whole drama to show that he is too good to be a sub at United. Approx two months later he ends up in a Saudi league and people wonder why most of United supporters laugh at him…

This is a move that he should be doing at his age and with his ability falling through the roof. He could have had this move without tarnishing his legacy with United. This interview with Morgan was one of the stupidest move I have ever seen. This interview made him persona non grata in any European club.

 a sad end to his illustrious career. Quite an embarrassing move
I don't get that take. Sure he hoped for a Champions League club, but he couldn't get one in August, but after the season he's had so far and a shite world cup, reality finally seems to have sunk in for him, painful as that must have been.

Bit of a comedown maybe, but he's 38 and if he's really getting $173m a year, or even half that, with zero income tax, he's laughing all the way to the bank.

I never believed the narrative that he didn't care about money at this stage of his career. It was the other way around; he cares about it now more than ever. This is the only thing he can be "proud" of after his position in the football pantheon was confirmed under Lionel Messi.

Good luck to him, Atleast he will be richer if not better than Messi.

I don’t know who is advising him PR wise but this makes his interview and summer antics of playing CL makes him look really dumb.

I guess he's trying to be wealthier than messi?

Maybe plans to buy a club down the road with all the money he will be getting (tax free).

What a sad end to his career though. Could have gone to the MLS or actually stayed with us.

Don't fret. I'm sure that move to Bayern is coming any day now.

Yup. He tried to throw himself at every European club in the UCL and got rejected by every single one of them.

He thought he would perform at the world cup and have offers. Instead, he stunk up the place there and was benched by his national team after his performances, and nobody wanted him.

So what does he do now? Just retire? There's no other CL team that wants him. Why would he say no to such an obscene contract for a few years?

His amazing decline coinciding with Messi winning the WC is so satisfying. And I couldn't give a single feck about Messi

If he doesn’t requested for a move in summer, and then did that interview with Piers Morgan, I am sure most of our fans would still be behind him. Now everyone just turning against him, it’s really a sad ending to a legendary player.
Agree that it's really sad. But it's all on him, his advisors and his huge ego.

Is this projection? Because a shit load of people don't do that at all. This is valid for all income classes. I don't think it's even the majority who do that.

In my job we're also offered anywhere from 3.5 to 10 times our pay if we go to Arabia. Still very frw do and the job offerings keep coming.
Unless that job offer is too good to be true or any catch.

Think he just needed to be as far away from the Messi goat hysteria after the World Cup.

In the last few months their careers and status couldn’t have ended up in such polar opposites.

That interview now makes him look such a fool.

Ronaldo : The little boy inside of me screamed: "اريد ان العب للنصر (arid an aleabb lilnasr)"

How will Keane,Souness & Rio spin this now?

Also all his mates & disciples who refused to say anything critical and pointed the finger at ETH.

If the World Cup wasn’t enough evidence to vindicate ETH then this surely is.

We were just meant to play him 90mins every week in the hope he can perform.

Well he's about 38. Retiring from European football to rake in cash isnt a bad move.

This is really karma comes back to bite his ass. Fully deserved it. His ego, selfishness and attitude is one of the worst ever from a Man Utd player.
