Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

Another concern is, this is the second day he misses valuable preseason training. He's not joining United's preseason tour, is he? Ten Hag won't be happy.

Imagine how annoyed Benzema would secretly be if CR7 rocked back up at Real Madrid.

Finally gets his chance to shine and gets the huge, worldwide respect he deserves and then Ronaldo comes back and it’s all about him again.

If Ronaldo does return to Real, then Benzema wouldn’t be playing second fiddle to him again.

He’s the main man there now.

Thought Bruno said ages ago that Ronaldo was expected back on Thursday? So he wasn't even due back until tomorrow? We'll see tomorrow I guess.

I wouldn't mind him going to Chelsea or anywhere even on a free at this point. We're trying to be positive about the new era under ETH and he sucked all the positivity with his move demands, whining about the salary cut, and not showing up to training. All that without even a single bid for him. He can't be allowed to return at this point.

It's much better to be blowing up now rather than a few months in I suppose.

If he does go, and this is very much not Ten Hag's decision he's got away with one I think, as it'd take a hell of a big personality manager to come into a huge club and kick out the biggest name!
Maybe wishful thinking, but it looks to me like ten Hag and Murtough are very much working as a team with Arnold’s full backing. It’s not unlikely that they’ve all reached the same conclusion.

What matters most is that Arnold can sell it to the Glazers, who presumably know who Ronaldo is.

Maybe he's told him he's not wanted and to stay away? we don't know.

After coming out publicly as wanting to leave, I really don't want him anywhere near the rebuild. We should move on from him ASAP.

Ronaldo is not the first player to do this and put the club in problems, the Pogba saga was a shame. It is time to set the foot down and put him in the reserves if he cant be a professional. Take the cost for one year, players certainly think they can do what they want.

Fair enough. Get rid and start fresh with a young hungry talent

There’s definitely a risk of course, but I think we would be much better equipped to handle Ronaldo’s arrival than you guys were last season.

We have a squad filled with serial winners and some real leaders. Champions League winners, World Cup winner, domestic league winners. Unlike Solskjaer we also have a manager who is the undisputed boss and has the utmost respect from all the players.

Ronaldo wouldn’t be coming to Chelsea feeling like everyone else in the squad is beneath him.
I wouldn’t be so sure of that.

Players who are in decline are the most likely to blame others. Thus was certainly true of Roy Keane.

I think he expect us to either give him a free transfer or pay some of his salary.

I'm probably overly naive, but...no. Surely not?

However, if that's the case...

I've said before that we should facilitate the transfer - because it would be best for all parties that he leaves - but that can't involve paying for it.

Manchester United is bigger than Cristiano Ronaldo - much bigger, in fact. If he thinks otherwise, we should educate him (even if it gets messy).

Man.., I wished Spurs had this kind of stance with Harry Kane last season.

I still think it's all about money. Why? Because of 25% cut.

Come on, this is a bit of a stretch. It’s pretty much just Thiago Silva and Kante.

Yeah that will really help

Him and his fans pretend he's some hero.

People actually believe this.

Hopefully only a few on here - but on Twitter and whatnot, yes, absolutely: it's a thing.

It isn't surprising, as such - the idiocy involved is par for the course, in some ways - but still quite a thing to behold in the United context: supposed United fans who believe Ronaldo is sticking it to the Glazers.

Well how exactly do they think he is sticking it to the Glazers?

When your love for a footballer dwarfs that for Manchester United.

No. On LW he would impede the progress of Vini Jr, at CF we need Benzema who ties up the attack and the midfield to attack transitions, and at RW we have just given Rodrygo a massive new contract which means its his time to shine this season.
That's what I thought as well. Thanks for confirming it.

Fair.

But walking into the dressing room and seeing some of the most respected and decorated players in Europe like Thiago Silva, Kante, Jorginho etc is a bit different than seeing Harry Maguire or Marcus Rashford.

Whatever he sees at Chelsea, this is not how you profess your purportedly huge affection for the club that is PAYING you 500K a week. I had sympathy with him originally and had he conducted himself professionally whilst asking for an out, would have respected that. Now but turning the whole thing into a circus, not turning up for work, all in an effort to pressure the club to sell, is really destroying his legacy. Not that he cares. Now I can say I used to be a CR7 fan.

I don’t think it’s about that at all.
It’s his ego and having to play in the Europa league and the fear that Messi will catch his champions League record. Its really that simple. You could offer him £1million a week and he wouldn’t sign. He clearly has enough money to last him 100 lifetimes.

On the other hand, the reason Manchester United want to keep him is for the money. The moment he leaves the club, MUPLC shares will drop like a stone. The clubs’ commercial partners (especially Adidas) won’t be happy and I’d imagine any new commercial agreements in place for this season would have been based on the assumption that the most famous football player in the world would be promoting their business.

Looks like you never watched or read about Ronaldo.

He already has done by saying their 'brand' is shite and walking away. How many number 7 shirts have they just lost for this 'delayed' kit launch? Sponsors will be cool though i guess

It's his last chance to close the balón dor gap (hasn't won won since 2017), Golden boots gap (he hasn't won one since 2015), and the trophies gap, the last of which is being extended by his most hated rival.

He's throwing himself at the best clubs and so far he's gotten rejected. Let's see.

Yeah, but surely you don't think his motivation is to expose the Glazers as shite owners?

You’re being quite selective there. I could just as easily say ‘Varane, Pogba and Cavani as opposed to Timo Werner and Kepa’

Yeah I feel the same. I also don't necessarily think it would be a good move for them anyway - they'd have to build the team around him, and if he isn't being picked week in and out he'll throw a strop. Happy for him to be Chelsea's problem.

Yeah, I can't see Tuchel wanting him. But I suppose it's whether the new owner wants to make a big splash and get a huge name in. Not sure how he operates. Personally, I think he's going to stay. Which would be a big problem.

No i think he is livid he wasted a year on the reality what the club is. Kill 2 birds, Ronaldo out of the team and throw shade at the owners

If he's a United fan, he must be a singularly stupid one if he thought everything was hunky-dory before he joined.

But anyway - yes, alright, let's say he thought United were ready to challenge for the biggest prizes when he joined last year.

I still don't believe for a second that he's now attempting to throw shade at the owners.

He doesn't give a shit what happens after he's gone.

So after 5 years declining he will suddenly become a bdor and golden boot contender...Ok
The problem is, in Ronaldo's delusional mind that might actually be true.

Seeing this contrasted with PSG's stars all showing up to preseason training under a new manager after just as much drama in the offseason is something. Our supposed example of professionalism can't be arsed

I agree with you that he won't. As you point out, due to his delusion (I would say it's desperation as well), he may feel he has a chance.

Dunno how i missed this gem but just watched it, found it randomly by watching NLS, an anthem for all cringe Ronaldo fans.

It should go on blast when he fecks off.
