Rashford only came back after his op during the season, he'd been playing through loads of injuries the two years before, including a broken back, was training all the way up to the finals and then got an insane amount of abuse for missing a penalty. I don't blame him for one bad season when everyone else is turd.

The Sancho buy, which was planned for might have been one of the reasons for the change in style, he was supposed to be our marquee signing.

Greenwood is nobodies fault but his own.

James was sold earlier than Ronaldo coming in I think, and Bruno just didn't get ridiculous numbers like he had for the previous 2/3 seasons.

The biggest issues we had, especially at the beginning was the form of Maguire and Shaw, who were both atrocious, and scuppered the whole 'playing out of the back'

I think Sancho is a good player but Ole has absolutely no idea how to use him. It’s a total mismatch.

Rashford, I am really tired of all the excuses people had for him. I know he is young, homegrown, English and loved by fans in this club. But he is so so so frustrating to watch over past 18 months.

If the whole team's pressing worsens because of Ronaldo, he isnt a football player. Must be some professor xavier playing mind games with the team.

Ronaldo is playing as a CF where even if the opponents go past him due to his failure to press, the wingers and midfielders can still cover the spaces and press. ETH knows how to use Ronaldo, there is no need to worry.
 
How will he take it when he returns seeing McT in the striker position over him? :smirk:
 
Ronaldo has done himself a huge disservice.
Its not the lack of CL.
He wanted to dictate to the manager how and where he should be played.
It was never going to work with a man who knows his job.

We were always in need of a striker to replace Greenwood.
Now we are forced to use a player who was penciled to leave (Martial).
He may work out.
Lets hope the Anthony talks prove real.

Obviously he wanted to dictate to the manager
Understandable why he's been left at home

Clearly though, nobody is interested
Upsetting as it's been for Ronaldo
Now is the time to buckle down and work for the team
Time will tell if he'll stay or go.

That's not how pressing in football works. At all. The striker is a main trigger and contributor in pressing systems. In our first game against Liverpool it was very obvious that Ten Hag had instructed the front line to press high and aggressively.

If the striker doesn't press, there is ZERO point for the rest of the team to press at the same level vertically up the pitch. The press will drop tens of meters, most likely into a middle press formation.

That's not how it works mate. You can't have the whole team pressing and the striker doesnt engage. In fact, the front man leads the press. If he doesn't, opponents will pick holes with ease.
Ten Hag will ask Ronaldo to do a lot more off the ball.
 
Funny enough, he'll likely be banging in goals for fun this season playing with the likes of Sancho, Eriksen, Bruno and possibly FDJ :lol:

His CL record is precious to him though so won't be surprised if Mendes harrasses Bayern daily until deadline day to sign him once they sell Lewandowski
 
I've accepted he's pretty much going to be here for this upcoming campaign, so I'm hugely fascinated how the Hag and Ronaldo relationship will develop over the course of the season.
 
I don't think the Saudi offer is true. It's Ronaldo's PR team at work.

If it's true, Saudi side will be the one telling the whole world. They like to be in the headline.
 
To be fair, money means very little for Ronaldo now. He's on a fabulous wage as it is. No, its all about being where its at and that's here (Europe), playing on the big stage and getting those personal goals.

Expecting a 37 year old player to change is unrealistic. That doesn't just apply to Ronaldo. He played like this for years. I am not even sure he'd be physically capable to play with high intensity for prolonged periods of time. The only question is, if he accepts a smaller role - early subs and/or being a sub. The management has to back EtH 100% and talk to Ronaldo at the start of the season and tell him that he can't have a special role. He has to leave if he doesn't accept that.

He does not train with the team, I hope EtH does not forgive that so quickly. Let him rot on the bench, if he is not behaving, it is the reserves
 
Am I the only one who is least concerned if he is forced to stay here because no one else is taking him? I believe he will turn up and play his best and be professional. I don't think he will sulk half a season like certain someone.
 
I want him gone. All he is going to do if he stays is derail another promising season. Goals here and there won't amount to much when we are losing and drawing every other game. We shouldn't have signed him to begin with, and this is our chance to make it right.

Ronaldo at home posting shots of him training at what? Body Building? While his team mates are training what he gets paid for. Sell him please, I don't wish to see him play for United again. Always a drama with this guy

I must have missed them, most of the posts I saw involved his desire to play in the Champions League as his main priority, some suggesting he was prepared to earn less to make that possible.
