Cristiano Ronaldo (I stay)

He's obsession with champions league at this stage of his career is weird. We are in 4 competitions this season and they may not be as reputable as the CL but given we haven't won a trophy in about 6 years, him helping us win one would be a solid achievement. There's also the World Cup to play for which is even greater than the CL

Didn't really hurt Xavi's or Pep's legacy, and it's a fecking quarter of a billion
They aren’t in line to be considered as the greatest player of all time. Not even close. Ronaldo is. That is a big difference. Also Messi is closing in on his UCL goals tally.

I feel the last point is what truly motivates him and is the reason he wants to leave, even if it's just for six group stage games. But still, 250m?!

Isn’t he almost a billionaire. I know it’s a lot of money but I think he thinks he already has a lot and he can always get more in endorsements. But legacy you don’t get a 2nd chance.

Im wondering why Ronaldo who's won a good amount of champions league is still obsessed with it but the bolded really might be the reason he can't stand to be outside CL.

Reckon Bayern is their last hope, if Bayern sell Lewa and still don't go in for Ronaldo then watch the Ronaldo is satisfied with Uniteds transfer business this summer and has decided to stay bollocks start dropping.
Bayern isn’t a club where Ronaldo just can walk in the door and get special treatment. They want hesitate putting him in the freezer if he starts whining. Would be funny to watch how Ronaldo cope with German discipline and demands.

Records are important to the man. By the time he is done he wants to secure for years to come - most UCL goals, most international goals and most goals ever by a player.

What do we think about Tuchel saying no. Does it make sense? Who else do the have up the middle who can knock them in like he can
I think Tuchel just wants to do what City and Liverpool have done. No recognized, tradition striker. Fluid, interchangeable attack that can adapt to any opponent.

So they don’t think the light is worth the candle.
Bayern said it’s not in their philosophy to sign players his age so their decision probably has very little to do with how good he currently is. They rather invest in someone that would be useful to them over the next 5-10 years.

No they didn’t.

I think this time, the board has surely learned. Last time, it’s Alexis Sanchez. CR7 transfer produced the disastrous outcome to another level of magnitude. If they do similar again, they are just extremely stupid.

I'm firmly in the 'get him fecked off to anywhere' camp at this point now.

I'm actually excited with what our new manager can build, especially with fluid and synched patterns of play, and I feel like a mopey Ronaldo who insists on playing every game and throws a strop when benched would only compromise that harmony.

Thank you for the memories but you're still a mercenary, now kindly feck off to Saudi or whoever the highest bidders are and let us rebuild the club properly.

They said it wasn’t in their philosophy? Wonder what that was referring to then :)
Who knows? If they only wanted to sign “players who could be useful to them for the next 5-10 years” then I wonder why they’ve just spent 40 odd million on a 30 year old Mane.

I’m 99% sure it was Rio , Evra and SAF that convinced him to come here.

Rio basically gave it away by his cryptic tweets and Evra even posted their convos after he signed with us.
I think the biggest advocate came from Glazers. They just won title by getting the veteran, Tom Brady. They publicly said the success is due to they got the winner who knows how to get it done. They by nature have the same thoughts about Ronaldo’s impact.

I mean Ribery and Robben pretty much played at a high level there well into their mid-30s.

So why not sign Ronaldo then!
Because the man is a self-centred diva who doesn't understand the notion of rotation. Ribery and Robben appreciated that in the twilight of their careers they couldn't play every game, Ronaldo seems to think he should be playing 90 minutes every game.

They also signed those players in their mid-late 20s. Palatable to go for Mane, but Ronaldo not so much.

5-10 years is a daft comment but come on man. Mane is a world class player and probs have 3-4 years playing at high level. 40m is well justified for that guy and it would have been higher if he had more than 1 year left on his deal.

Ronaldo is deteriorating fast.Other than him there’s probably only Zlatan that produces at that age and even Zlatan does it in Serie A.

Modric is 36 now (or 37) and he is turning out to be a freak of nature but ultimately, Ronaldo is at best an one year deal and even at that he is highly likely to be unplayable very soon. (Some claim he is already i dont really think that, but fine).

It probably goes further than tactics. He undermined both Ole and Ralf last season by throwing a public tantrum whenever he was benched or subbed. Tuchel may also associate him with the dressing room unrest we experienced and thinks it's not worth having someone who expects to play every minute of every game, and could potentially undermine his team mates and the manager.

I agree with all of this? This is literally my point. Bayern don’t want Ronaldo not because he’s old but because he’s shite.

Forget about other issues of playing him in one’s team. Just look at his number 1 value to a club(or 2 depending on if you value the commercial aspects), goals.
Compare his goal conversation versus the player he is supposedly going to replace, Lewadowski, and it is quite significantly worse

Let’s ignore all context of the team he’s playing for and look at one isolated season.

How is he shite though? Everything he did last season proves to be the contrary unless we were both watching different sports. If anything, he did better than expected considering the dross around him.

It is adjusted based on the chances he got from his teammates, because if his teammate sucked and he only got 50 chances and converts 5 of them, it is still worse than someone else who has great teammates and gave him 500 chances and he converted 100. It is still 10% conversion rate versus 20% conversion rate no matter how you try to argue your way out of it

I can see it now, the briefs that Ronaldo had a chat with Ten Hag and changed his mind.

All parties looking strong after that, even though its evident Ronaldo couldn't find takers  Mendes will need some spin
