He had those moments when he didn't expect the ball would come to him.

Last night felt like he learned from those mistakes and just shape his body regardless if the ball comes through.

Smash! beautiful volley.

I genuinely believe current generation of forwards couldn't first time volleys that good anymore.

That goal was total class. To hit it was hard enough, because he was unsighted, but to place it into the corner like that was world class. Cavani's and Rashford's goals were also excellent.

As long as we leave our three most promising young players on the bench he is mint.

But yeah that finish was ridiculous. And the disallowed one was shot out of a fecking cannon. Lloris didn’t even move.

If any one of those three gave us 60% of what Cavani did today they would be starting because of their talent but it’s to a point now where it’s detrimental if we start two players who can’t put a shift in, Ronaldo you can understand at age 36. These two we started cannot play every game but the lack of effort from the younger players is abysmal at times and Ronaldo + Cavani show so much desire and cohesion, they’re players that look like they’re trying to gel, I don’t see that with Greenwood. Sancho I’m willing to wait till he settles and Rashford in fairness has come back showing more movement and desire to score at least, he seems the most likely to take a starting spot at present.

So wish the offside goal would have stood, what a peach that would have been, just one look, click, click, boom…

Well...Apologies for not being able to drop by yesterday and take my medicine...daily limit post for a newbie and all that.

Much better all round performance from him in a formation that clearly suits him. Man of the match certainly and perfect response from him.

Not to be that guy but just as my opinions weren’t based on just him (despite how they were construed) my response to his performance yesterday won’t change my overall opinion much. We played counter attacking football which clearly suits the team better. Spurs were poor on the ball.

Spurs away...I wouldn’t have started him and would have gotten that wrong...we didn’t suffer from having him in a counterattacking game plan which I thought we would simply because our successful counter attacking to date included pace like Rashford, James, prime Martial. But he has definitely changed my opinion on when we should use him.

I still think we would need more energy for 90 minutes against top sides which is what I have always said...and we would get the max out of him with 30 minutes to go off the bench in those games because if you sit too deep and let good centre halves settle you are in for long 90 minutes...

but overall, yeah, great performance by him and cavani. Age is but a number and all that...happy with it...not happy that we spent 3 years building towards a completely different formation though...

Ole really could have recruited much differently if 3 5 2 is the way he ends up going. Poor auld Sancho- the new DVB!

Perhaps if our coaching were on a level we might develop our young attacking core along with others on and off the ball rather than resorting to three at the back so a 34 year old can do all the running for a 36 year old.

I'd also like us to use a 343 at times, too, which, as you said, would allow us to rotate. However, we played more of a flat midfield three today, as opposed to a pivot with Bruno ahead as a 10. Could Sancho play that role?

The thing is that with Ronaldo we can't play the 343 without consequences. This will leave us with the same problems as the 4231 where he is playing as kind of a lone striker. He needs a strike partner.

So when Ronaldo plays we will most likely play best in a 352.

His best strike partner at United is obviously Cavani. The one player I wouldn't have minded seeing a bit is Greenwood yesterday alongside Ronaldo after our 2-0 lead to see if arguably our 3rd best striker (after Ronaldo and Cavani) could start to work in striker partnership's especially since he is left footed.

Either way, I think Ole went for Rashford primarily (don't even know if Greenwood was kn the bench) because Rashford's the most winger like player out of the 4 and needs to get in to the rhythm of playing as a centre forward again if we are sticking with a 352.

Then it comes to Sancho - I've heard he has played some games centrally for Dortmund so it won't be shocking; it's just a bit unfair on him to maybe come and play that role outside an FA Cup match considering he has hardly played a LW or RW match for us either. It's more something I'm wanting to see because of his dribbling, his ability to go on both flanks and ability to play through balls.

I think we have to give Ronaldo and Cavani the 352 partnership and slowly build that team up (aka see if Pogba is able to fit in midfield or if he still leads us to feel like we need extra defensive balancing).

Let's the youngest players sit out a while and come on as subs - Greenwood and Ronaldo needs to try and get in to some partnership because those are the most natural strikers we have if anything happens to Cavani.

In the FA CUP we should play a flat 343

Rashford- Greenwood- Sancho
To give the winger chance to the players in their normal position in my opinion and see how that works with a back 3 as an alternative.

Depending on who is available, who gets injured - we need to fit the right tactics to fit the certain players we play.

I keep watching his goal yesterday. Everything about it was superb. Movement, timing, technique.

And then his assist was unreal as well. He has the ability to beat a man using a chop even at 36 which is crazy. Hardly any other players in the world can do this.

We've got a guaranteed goalscorer, yes, but also someone who can still beat a man and set up his teammates.

No words needed CR7 is the greatest of all time GOAT ! Very lucky to have him in the Premier League the hardest and most physically demanding league in the World still tearing it up as some others prefer playing in the farmers French League and still struggling..

Viva Feckin Ronaldo baby!

that volley was Van Basten-esque beautiful technique from a tight angle scoring in the only place he could put the ball. Love a good volley!

also his assist wasn't easy either he was off balance after doing the Cruyff move but delivered with the perfect weight and timing.

37 years old in February and still lightning. Did you see him outpace the Spurs defenders for his offside goal!? Wow he can play until he's 40 or 41 easily if he wants to.

oldest player to get a goal and assist in a Premier League game

796th career goal yesterday.. just 4 off to score 800 career goals. Amazing! Most players would be happy to score just 100 goals in their careers.. nevermind 800! And he's not done yet. Nothing but respect for the guy who deserves everything he's achieved like. A genius Roy Keane said.

so happy Manchester City didn't get Ronny, they would've had a chance of winning the quadruple .. doesn't bare thinking about!

literally saved Ole's job as even though 3-0 win looks comfortable on paper we was struggling to score before Ronaldo did so it was vital to score just before half-time. They go in half-time 0-0 it's a different game second half as it gives them confidence. Scoring before halftime allowed us to sit and hit them on the counter-attack second half. Clutch.

Or it is more of just to tighten up the defense which was leaking goals which the 'young and promising' forwards contribute a bit to.

I have a feeling that we will be back to 4 2 1 3 on Tuesday.

Greenwood and Ronaldo so far has not been working. I would start with Rash and Ronaldo on Tuesday if we do 3 5 2 again. Then, take off Ronaldo for Greenwood.

It's just a bit scary because we didn't dominate vs Atalanta.

If we play Ronaldo without a strike partner it's going to effect both him and the team.

I'd say if we plan to play Ronaldo play in a 2 man striker formation. We need a player doing things for him and so a player can keep the central defenders busy whilst Ronaldo can make a move. If we dont and rest him then we can play a more flat front 3 or 4231 with our more younger players.

Obviously this is just me - maybe Ole doesn't agree and just goes back to things that hasn't worked. I hope he doesn't and has realised his mistakes.

Hmm. The first two lines were not for your post. Sorry about that. I am not sure how they were in it.

The reason I said Ronaldo and Greenwood needed more things to figure out is that none of them are explosive and work hard and both of them act as pure strikers in front of the goals. It could be an issue for them to work.

As much as I like the way we played in deeper area to protect the defense with 3 - 5 - 2, I think it is a more of issue that our defenders just have extremely low morale. Plus I think if we go with it, we need to put more attacking minded players on where Fred plays.

I’m sorry but his goal isn’t getting enough hype for me. A truly special goal. Incredible technique.
Are you serious?
There hasn't been a player in the history of football that gets as much hype as Ronaldo when he scores.

Instagram exploded once again after his goal. His fans hype hin to the sky and his pr machine starts working overhours again.

It's a good goal, but Ronaldo not getting enough hype is such a weird thing to say.

I didn’t say Ronaldo isn’t getting enough hype. I said the specific goal he scored isn’t getting enough hype.

Outrageous technique and is probably in his top 30/50 goals ever for me.

This is what Ronaldo has said in an earlier interview. He said the determination and the effort has to come from inside. It is a shame that our younger players do not have that desire to work hard like Ronaldo and Cavani do. I do not mean only the running but the determination to be the best and the first to be to the ball.

I genuinely believe that, in Ronaldo’s head, he didn’t even see the defender there, only the ball was visible.

Yeah, bro, Ronaldo, the lone striker, is somehow responsible for our entire defence and midfield to collapse in a spectacular fashion just because he didn't mindlessly press the keeper for no reason, showcased here:

Something as a bonus before Ronaldo was even in the team:

Yep, that's Ronaldo's fault all right. I wonder how this clown even won 5 CL's, 3 of them back to back when he literally has the "ability" to make every player turn into a disorganized mess, incapable of playing even basic football. Yep, that's Ronaldo. A joke of a footballer. Djemba Djemba, Bebe? WhO? Ronaldo has been the worst Manchester United player in history and that's a fact! He even has the ability to make United players play like shit EVEN when he is not in the team! Amazing stuff. I'd go even as far as to say Ronaldo is clearly responsible for every bad thing in the world, there's no other way. Some guy kills another person somewhere? That's Ronaldo's fault for not pressing the goalkeeper and ruining his day! Utterly despicable person that guy Ronaldo is. Sigh... At this point you're either massively wumming or you have some serious personal issues with Ronaldo. It's actually insane if you believe any of this shit you keep spouting.
I know this is a few days old, but what an great post.

An outstanding signing, but I do hope that if Ole’s here through the end of the season that he doesn’t run him into the ground, as he’s already with Bruno again.

This one is carbon copy, but not quite as good. Just look at the movement.

Click to watch. Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid, 1-0, 2018

His wife is apparently pregnant with twins, congratulations GOAT! Another double back of the net get in my son!

so in theory.. if Ronny's children are born in Manchester and the U.K. (which you assume since he lives here to play football they will be) they will be British citizens and could play for England (or Portugal or Spain since his wife is Spanish) if they turn into good footballers? What a prospect!

a bit like that story a few years ago about how that Italian footballer Simone Perrotta was born in Ashton-Under-Lyne and was eligible to play for both England and Italy but chose Italy.

Cristiano Jr. was putting good numbers in U9 for Juventus. Although probably wouldn't be eligible for UK citizenship?

First 28 games there, 58 goals, 18 assists.

Cristiano Jr was born in the United States I believe so could in theory play for them (I remember American folk getting excited about that prospect a few years ago) or Portugal.

The twins his wife is pregnant with and having will be eligible for British passports as birth right and eligible to play for England one day if they are born in the U.K. which you'll assume his wife will be going to a Manchester hospital to give birth since Ronny plays football here. They'll be Mancs haha! (Atleast born here even if they don't have the accent!)

guy now has 6 kids, he's building his own football team!

Yes, new formation took the pressure off from Ronaldo, he doesn't need to do the dirty defensive works, focusing on his scoring record.

Man united will build up team around Ronaldo and Cavani both at 35-36 years old, Sancho, Greenwood, Rashford, Lingard, Pogba and Martial all the youngest will be benched or sell to accommodated Ronaldo.

Most of all, all the fans are so happy here with his scoring ability, they are not worried about the future of the club.

I was also impressed by that. The shot itself was a beauty but he was able to do it as he was tracking the ball regardeless of the defender, so he was ready in case the defender would missed the ball and never kept his eyes off the ball.

It sounds simple but a lot of players don't track the ball and looked surprised if the ball isn't cleared it and passes in front of them.

Yeah, lot of players don't do that. For Ronaldo it looked like there was no defender, he has clear sight of the ball and it was always reaching him. So he was fully prepared. Beautiful goal.

Martial, Pogba and Lingard are the future of the club?

Well, future of the club sounds great except the current state of it is pretty shite which needs a fixing first.
