Nah, I think they worry he'll be a bit expensive on the pitch these games are being played on and probably be a bit easier to hit with his extra pace.

Good effort from Fawad & Umar at the end to get to a decent score, at least it gives the bowlers some chance but SL should win this...
 
Who won the last Asia Cup?

It'd be nice for either country to win tihs one, I guess. Sri Lanka because they lose so many finals, I feel sorry for Sangakarra and Jayawardene. Pakistan because they don't get any cricket at home and I'm guessing this win would be pretty big for their fans.
 
Pakistan won the last one, 2 years ago.

Sri Lanka have won 3 of the last 6, starting from 97.
 
Unless they collapse, SL should comfortably win this...

Good question. One of the best reverse swing bowlers in world cricket a few years ago, now looks very average. Perhaps the changes in the rules to having 2 balls from both ends has an impact on his bowling - less swing makes him far less dangerous?

Whatever the reason, we need to get Mohammad Irfan back in this side. He and Junaid made a good bowling combo.
 
Comfortable win for SL, despite the little wobble near the end.

Some positives for Pakistan with the bat. Afridi boom-boomed and Fawad finished the tournament strong. Umar did well again (for the love of God, get him in the Test side!) Bowling has to improve for the T20 WC, hopefully Irfan is back for that. Ajmal is still quality.

Overall, good tournament. Some exciting games. SL deserved winners.
 
Fun 7-over game between Aussies and SA. Warner is possibly the most in-form batsman in world cricket right now.
 
And then they somehow win the game despite their batting, even with Dernbach bowling 2 wides with 7 needed off 1 and then Sammy for some reason getting bat on ball on the second.
 
Besides being average at everything Dernbach's tatoos should dictate he should be nowhere near the national team.

He did alright today.

Actually he's done alright all tour, he's a player that I can understand why they stick with, he bowls 90 miles an hour and can bowl yorkers fairly well and his slower balls are very good.

The problem he has a tendency to over bowl the slower stuff (and bowl short at the death, but I think thats an England problem, rather than a Dernbach one) which makes it predictable.

When he bowls his stock ball regularly and the other stuff as a surprise (like out thinking Sammy by bowling a slower ball with 7 off 2 needed) he's a good T20 bowler, its when he gets stupid with it thats the problem.

Personally, and this is just me, if I was captaining him in that England team I would open with him and give him 1 or 2, and then bring him back for the 19th or 20th. I don't see any point bowling him in the middle overs, the likes of Bopara or Mooen Ali can give me more in those overs.
 
He lacks any intelligence as a bowler. He's been a liability for too long. Fortunately today he got away with Sammy having an understandable brain fart on the final ball.
 
I don't know if he lacks intelligence, I think it might be the opposite, that he over thinks it and its when he thinks less and just bowls good balls rather than all his variations that he's a better bowler.
