Cricket

Shikhar Dhawan is a twat.

Mocking a player's injury(even though it's Shane Watson) is pathetic.
Did not watch it but just read about it. That seems disgraceful.

Cricket's not a lot of fun these days, is it?

I can't stand Hayden's commentary.

He's such a sycophant. Five years ago, he went back from the Indian tour and called India a third world country.

Now, all he does is play up to the Indian viewers.

Watson was brave to stay out there when injured, but other than pride what was the point? The game was/is lost and he's probably done more damage to himself by carrying on.

Dhawan's actions were pathetic, certainly not 'in the spirit of the game'.

But for those 2 weird dismissals -- Bailey and Watson, Australia could have actually won this easily.

They need 120 from 90 balls.

How bizarre is this?

they will probably win this. This isn't cricket.

I think with just 1 supporting batsman they would but 86 to get for Faulkner on his own while farming strike is tough.

If Ishant had been playing here, there'd have been 2 double hundreds.

Maybe, but it still doesn't make this cricket. This is worse than T20. It's a fecking joke. Either India needs to change the pitches here, or the rules have to change. Spinners are pretty much nullified, and no reverse swing either. What the hell is this shit?

Rule changes should be made that help bowlers, not the other way around. If things stay like this we'll eventually reach the stage where teams play batsmen/part timers instead of their medium pacers.

fecking hell. I might have moaned in here but that was a great game to watch at the ground:lol: I considered leaving when Aus were 4 down but thankfully didn't. But very poor show by Dhawan, completely against the spirit of the game

If we had lost that Dhoni would have had to answer a few questions with regard to his bowling choices.

I have to say that this sport is now quickly become dead to me which is a shame given how much I loved it. The concept of a semblance of a contest between bat and ball had completely disappeared. Anyone and everyone cracking hundreds and doubt hundreds at strike rates of 150 or so. Not just that, the quality of bowling attacks is rubbish. I'll watch sachins last two test but I think the sport is truly going down the shitter.

To go back to the Kohli debate.. if Faulkner could hit like that chasing 380, don't any of you think it puts Kohli's knocks in perspective?

Well other venues are not as pathetic as India though. This series was a farce no two ways about it. Pak-SA series seems time more interesting.

Really hate BCCI for turning this into a joke, and more for shortening the SA series.

I don't think anything that happened in this series can be used to judge a player given how skewed it was. Kohli's definitely class, though.

I don't disagree that Kohli is good.. I believe he is severely untested and his records are extremely inflated.

Definitely. This series has played like a series of elongated t20 matches but with the batsman a lot less likely to get out hitting.

As for kohli so far he's really dominated at home mostly I think (could be wrong) and it's pretty easy to see why.

True. I hardly look at stats these days. 10 years ago having 50+ average meant something, it doesn't today.

Out of curiosity, who would be your top 3 ODI batsmen currently? ABD, Kohli and Amla for me.

Yup.

50 will become the new 40 with regards to one day averages. Dhoni and kohli have such averages and they won't be the last either. At least in India it will become more and more frequently the case the way our pitches are going.

Well, his away average is 48 compared to 50 at home so I don't think the surface matters a lot for him. However a lot of his runs have come against Sri Lanka. 5 centuries in that. He does have a century in both Australia and England though.

Hoping he does well in SA, that will be a good test for him.

Yeah. Way too arrogant and classless. Some of them are talented but they should take a leaf out of Sachin's, Dravid's, Laxman's or Kumble's book on how to respect the game.

Didn't Watson and Dhawan have an altercation in an earlier ODI? Anyway Dhawan shouldn't have done that.
And Raina wasn't mocking Watson, he was genuinely hit on the inside of the knee, the ball even left a mark.

Crass from Dhawan...and disappointing. You'd expect that from a petulant child like Kohli. Dhawan should know better, even if he had prior with Watson.

Raina

Anybody follow the Bangladesh series? Managed to chase down 309 and sweep the series against NZ. Impressive.

Yeah we're gonna get thrashed by South Africa. Our bowling is rubbish and our batting won't stand up against the likes of Steyn n co.

Rohit, Kohli and Pujara will do well. The rest I'm not convinced about. They should've used the WI series to play Rishi Dhawan and give him some opportunity(even more with Jadeja's injury). He's the only pace bowling all rounder we've at the moment who's decent.

Bit too early to say anything about Rohit IMO. Specially in tests, Steyn and Philander are completely different monsters. I have hopes from Pujara and Kohli.

So gutted Sachin isn't going. He was playing Ranji and what not to prepare for it. After his last encounter against Steyn I was really looking forward to this one!

We will get ripped apart. I think we will do decent in the one days, but the tests will be a massacre. All they have to do is prepare pitches that assist the quicks.

I've had my eye on it.

Gazi has been a real find for them both in the ODIs and Tests as have the likes of Shamsur Rahman and Nasir Hossain.

Nice to see some pressure off of Al-Hasan, the fact they won the series with him ill is testament to the improvements they're making.

Actually, I don't think India will do that bad. I do think RSA aren't as good as people tend to think. I don't think we'll get ripped apart.

Which will make the hype even more unbearable.

Given what happened in Australia and England I can only fear what will happen there.

I don't think we should go by what SA did in UAE. As NM said, they will make pitches completely bowler friendly and Steyn and Philander with the new ball against our flat track bullies is very scary.
