This NZ team is terrible. I feel sorry for them.

Faf doing well for us. A solid player to have down the order. JP will take Elgar's place when he is fit.

I think NZ should forfeit and go back home. This is embarrassing.

Their batsman need a trip to India for some confidence building.

NZ survive the day.

Amazing how one side made 525 (declared) and the other is limping towards 50 on the same pitch.

SA are an awesome side, better than anyone else in the Test arena right now and deservedly #1. I would've liked to have seen this team go up against the great Aussie side of a decade ago, I think that would've been a tremendous match up.

This was a pretty fine comic.

TBF playing South Africa in South Africa is a thankless task especially with that bowling lineup.

Some shameless plugging, but I did mention a few times that Du Plessis is awesome before he'd made his debut.

There is an issue with their team I think. There was an argument over the captaincy with Ross Taylor and a number of their senior players don't seem to be playing e.g Ryder, Vettori and Oram.

Ryder is shit and Oram is always injured. Not missing out too much with those two.

Vettori is a big loss. His bowling and his batting are both crucial for NZ in tests.

Those would have been some awesome matches.

This South African team is special but that Australian team Hayden, Langer, Ponting, Gilchrist, McGrath, Gillespie, Warney and the supporting cast was something else. I think that team still trumps this SA team in a full test match series (5 tests).

That team had some of the best cricketers to ever grace the game. This SA team has the potential to reach that level in the next couple of years with this core and Gary in-charge.

I am happy that SA have taken over the number 1 spot. They are legit. Those rankings with India and then England at the top were total nonsense.

Agreed. Besides for the probably superior team, that Australian team had something special about them. Opposing teams used to lose before a ball was bowled.

Also, this South African team is missing one key ingredient - a good spinner. It has always been our weakness but it's even more evident now.

This SA side is deservedly number one, and the best around right now - but i don't think they are outstanding. Nothing on the Aussie side being described above.

I have high hopes for the current crop of England youngsters with Cook at the helm, the next series between us in SA could be a cracker.

Africa's pace bowling is even better than that of the great Aussie teams. Dale Steyn is already one of all time greats.

Well we'd rather not have them back and hear the we were brave excuse. Just leave them in a dump somewhere

That kind of fear will come if they keep a consistent run for a few years. The foundation of the all conquering, fearful Aussie team was laid in the Taylor/Waugh eras.

A good spinner is paramount for variety and to succeed in all conditions. Warney was as crucial as McGrath in breaking down teams in Aussie conditions.

International spastic cricket at the moment.

Aus rolled for 74. Sri Lanka should really have been 3/10 but two dropped chances and another given not out that was out and not referred.

A friend just told me that. Or more gloated as he is from a SL background. what happened, Australia just collapse and play rubbish. Or did the SL bowl really well?

Srilanka bowled very well I thought but the pitch was shite for a one day game.

Kulusekara bowled fantastic. Just great line and length swing bowling which.

DUNDUNDUNNNN none of the top order one day spastics can play. Hughes, Bailey and David Hussey are all garbage against swing.

SL probably bowled better than we were shit, especially to clean up the tail. Should have had them 3/10 after 5 overs, Dilshan made 20 and that was the extra 20 that really let the whole pressure off as wickets kept falling. 4 or 5 dropped catches which you don't; expect form Aus.

Brilliant ending to the ODI series between NZ and SA, SA winning with a 6 off the final ball.

Warne blasts CA officials, brands them 'muppets'

Legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne has slammed Cricket Australia (CA) for hiring ‘muppets’ from other sports such as high-performance chief Pat Howard instead of people with cricketing backgrounds to help captain Michael Clarke.

Warne claimed the CA should look further than the rugby community and get current cricket people involved in the game at administrative level, News.com.au reports.

As CA’s high-performance chief, Howard has overseen the selection panel’s controversial strategy of rotating players in and out of the side this summer in an attempt to avoid injuries, particularly in terms of managing fast bowlers’ workloads, the paper added.

Warne, who is a close mate of Clarke, said on Twitter on Monday that it was ludicrous to deprive the Australian sporting public of seeing the star batsman in action during some of the One-day games against Sri Lanka [ Images ] earlier this month. He also said the CA really need to look at the people who are making decisions on all facets of cricket in Australia, as they are seriously becoming a joke.

"Absolute rubbish re selections, rotations, resting & farcical decisions on matches, joke.. Dudding (cheating) the public & to(o) many excuses.. Wake up CA.

"Can CA please put current cricket people in charge to run the game, select teams, not ex rugby or any other sports people plse, seriously.

"We have the best batsmen/captain in the world in @MClarke23 (Michael Clarke) - He needs current cricket people to help him out not muppets," he wrote.

The 43-year-old reiterated his stand on Tuesday morning but denied calling anyone 'Muppets' specifically and said he wants the best for Australian cricket.

"Morning all, read my tweets please & report correctly & responsibly, I never called anyone specific a muppett, don't assume, u may be wrong," Warne tweeted.

"Australian cricket is in disarray & in my opinion people are hoping Australian cricket will turn around Lack of a plan & a cricket strategy.

"As I said last night we need cricket people running the team & who understand cricket & what's required at the top level, not muppets!

"I am speaking as a frustrated Australian cricket team supporter & want what's best for Australian cricket," wrote Warne, who has claimed 708 Test wickets in his career.

Warne, who was fined a total of US $9500 and suspended for one match during the just-cooncluded BBL season for various breaches of discipline, made the comments during Australia's two-run defeat via Duckworth-Lewis to Sri Lanka at the MCG in the second Twenty20 [ Images ] on Monday.

The Aussie great also promised to write "an in depth article on the state of Australian cricket" within the next 24 hours.

Former players, including Brett Lee [ Images ] and Ian Chappell, have criticised Cricket Australia's rotation policy, where players have been rotated in an attempt to avoid injuries, especially fast bowlers.

Australia's selectors had rested captain Michael Clarke, Matthew Wade, and David Warner for the first two matches of the ODI series after sweeping the Tests 3-0 against Sri Lanka.

Gotta love Warney.:)

Turns out Dhoni has been VP at India Cements. Also he refused to play for the Irani trophy but is playing for India Cements team in the corporate cup. What a knob.

BCCI in being bullying cnuts shocker.

Can't blame any other board for not speaking though, they need BCCI's money. Except of ECB. Money talks..

I don't understand the BCCI's objection - why do they hate technology so much?

The ICC should grow a pair and impose DRS on all games. If the Indians don't like it and want to pull out of international series then so be it. I suspect if that happens and they boycott games, the Indian fans, who love their cricket, won't be too happy and the pressure will be on the BCCI to stop being retards and embrace the technology.

bizarre really. The games are so much better with technology and that is the case with every sport.

Excellent day of Test cricket for Pakistan on day 1 in South Africa - SA all out for 253. Khan, Hafeez and Gul were all impressive with the ball. Misbah deserves a bit of credit as Hafeez got 3 wickets with the new ball and managed to clean up the SA tail.

The pitch looks decent enough for batting, the Pakistani bowlers just picked up wickets at key times with no SA batter kicking on. We'll see if our batsman can now take advantage and get a lead, managed to survive 2 overs so far...

Pakistan's bowling will cause difficulty for anyone.

But I doubt their batting is capable of dealing with Steyn and co.

Ripping through this batting line-up with some excellent bowling.

Pakistan could be looking at a follow on here!
