Cricket

I don't get it with Philander. On the face of it he is very average, barely any pace and yet when you look at the wickets column he always has a bunch of wickets to his name. I don't think he would get as many wickets as he does if SA didn't have Steyn and Morkel

It's the subtle seam movement he gets. A bit like McGrath, not the quickest but he works you over by bowling tremendous line and length, builds pressure and he'll then get the ball to do enough to take your wicket. Brilliant bowler.

SA's pace attack is the most complete in world cricket. If only they had a spinner.

Ajmal has been superb.

Pakistan should have this game and the series wrapped up soon...

And there it is! Pakistan win the game very comfortably and win the ODI series in India.

Congrats to them. Junaid looks a class act.

Bowling was excellent again. Ajmal superb, Gul his usual reliable self and Junaid did very good again. Dhoni was once again the only Indian batter who offered resistance, he really should bat higher than #6.

Didn't see the Pakistan batting but I notice the habitual collapse occurred after an excellent start from the openers. Jamshed with back-to-back centuries is a good sign for our batting, hopefully between him, Azhar Ali & Umar (once he is back in the side) offer some hope to our batting long-term.

Hussey, the ultimate professional, decided it was more important for Australia to win rather than for him to hit the winning run in his final match. Fantastic player, will be a massive loss to the Aussie side.

To be fair, Dhoni has been the only player to carry the fight against Pakistan. Batting and bowling has been a let down, with the exception of Kumar.

Not following a lot of this, in spite of it being against Pakistan, because I am burnt out from cricket.

I think the biggest problem is we turn up with our T20 team to play our ODIs.

No anchor in the middle order.

Cricinfo says that Pujara will be named in the next ODI squad. Good to see.

I think he got lucky that his two debuts came in very good conditions for bowling.

At the moment, he has potential. Good control and swings it both ways. But at this stage, he doesn't have an extended future if he continues to bowl at that speed.

They should put him through conditioning programs and get his speed up. What will probably happen is they'll bowl him into the ground because he took a few wickets and he'll spend the rest of his career in the Ranji trophy bowling at 120.

New bowler in the side today.. interested to see how he goes.

On another note, is anyone else worried about Kohli? Just doesn't seem to do it when needed or against quality bowling. Kept scoring hundreds against Sri Lanka at the start of his career and a few other teams with poor bowling attacks. Against SA away, he didn't do too well -- that was his first proper test. Against Pakistan, he seems to be struggling.

Test cricket seems to be much the same. His hundred against Australia was a good knock, but he has little else to show for it. He needs to learn to apply himself.. he's getting too many easy runs against the likes of Kulasekara, Perrera, etc.

Gambhir, Sehwag and Yuvraj can feck off.

Poor batting by Pakistan. This game should've been won, instead we'll probably lose now.

Pakistan seemed a bit less bothered, maybe because they already won the series. Still India have bowled well so far. All depends on Hafeez now.

Good finish, India shouln't be so happy winning this game, and losing the series. Good to see Kumar and Shami bowling well. Would like to see more of them against England.

India win the game, Pakistan win the series. Moral victory for India who celebrate as if they've won the series.

Typically shit batting from Pakistan. Hafeez had a good series overall.

We celebrated as if we won the series. Good win though. Bhuvi and Shami look promising. Jadeja should be a mainstay in ODI team.

Can't remember who it was who said it but Misbah only seems to have to have 2 gears when he bats. He either smacks everything or defends everything, there's nothing in between. Jadeja did well to be fair to him but he should only be picked as a bowler if he's to stay in the team.

Every time I see Ajmal bowl, I find it hard to believe the ICC don't ban him. A chucker if I ever saw one

Sehwag dropped. Pujara in.

Deserved. Gambhir should also be dropped.

What's Rohit doing warming the bench here when Mumbai are in the knock-outs?

I am enraged by listening to Kris Srikkant on any kind of selection issues. The cretin did not have the balls to make any major decision when he was incharge and now is happy to gob off his sage advise. Twat

Well they sacked Mohinder Amarnath when he had the balls to suggest Dhoni should be dropped.

What's he saying?

Shane Warne and Samuels got into an altercation in some T20 game in Australia.

If there is one thing I hated about the Aussies always was they could never handle it when someone gave it back to them (and this is not based on the above link becuase I dont know what Samuels had done before this happened) ... They were so used to sledging and getting away with it that pretty much everytime someone said something back it turned ugly.

Du Plessis has really been a brilliant addition to SA.

Du Plessis has really been a brilliant addition to SA.

I've been very impressed how he's settled into test cricket so far, he looks like has has the temperament to be a mainstay in that line-up.

New Zealand - 39/6, 486 runs behind. :lol::lol::lol:

All this and Philander's not even playing!
