Cricket

Love watching Smith bat. Unconventional but always making adjustments to his technique
I thought i was the only one. Watching him bat is like watching a masterclass. Like I've said on numerous occasions...

...best test batsman I've ever seen.

Modern cricket captaincy can be annoying, a deep point to a guy on debut at 60 odd for 4 when the ball is doing a bit? Ok.

Both these two batting nicely. Indian back up seamers getting nothing out of this wicket which looks like it's flattening out.

Bar Bumrah magic which is always possible, fancies Aussies to go well post lunch.

Comfortably India’s session, though India don’t have much to play with on the scoreboard. Would be surprised if Aus don’t pass India’s 185. Game on!

Your a fan of 180 all out after 70 overs?

Yes. The top order failed and the team had to dig in. That's test cricket. Additionally, batting first is partly about runs, partly about time. Chasing glory would not have helped considering we have to win the test. Looking at Australia at lunch, we may be in with a shot due to that approach

Jonathan Trott, Alistair Cook and Rahul Dravid likes this.

Don't forget Cheteshwar Pujara

Just saw Atherton had a 7700 Test runs at a strike rate of 37.

Allan Border had 11k runs at a SR of 40.

How does someone like Dravid and Cook get reputations for being slow grinders when their career strike rates are like 3-5 higher than the above

Brilliant bowling India without Bumrah. Did not see that coming.

As an Australian, the prospect of no Bumrah for the fourth innings is pleasing. But as a lover of cricket, I want to see him bowl. He’s just incredible.

This would be the most Indian performance if we get ahead as @Ayush_reddevil would say.

Bumrah is injured and off the pitch for the session

Jaiswal has great game sense. Reminds me of Warner a bit who really knew when to stick the boot in.. this is a third innings where he has to strike faster and he’s been aggressive. Not a pitch where you hang around waiting for the odd bad ball.

Not seen a pitch this tough for batting in a long time

Rishabh Pant is my favourite Indian batter of all time. First ball, down the track and hits Boland for a six.

I think this is one of the greatest innings ever

The other end can’t lay bat on ball, the ball is seaming around corners and he’s striking at 200

What an insane cricket match. When I went to sleep I didn't know if I would wake up to India 1 down or 8 down. Seems like India have a good score if Bumrah can bowl

That was a dumb shot by Gill.

I agree

I think he had to anchor one end, and he was doing it quite well. Then got carried away by Rishabh at the other end

I don't think this was a pitch for digging in, but it wasn't the right shot that he played especially given he seemed to be sensible till then

Like some others, he will get mauled by the press at times for being reckless, but when it comes off it changes the game very quickly. Fantastic knock.

India have the Zak Crawley issue with Gill, you want to believe that he has the talent but how long a rope can a player get at test level.

I do this as well. Check bbc sport for the score after. It's just the best ha

You'd think 200 is a great score here. We need to come out blazing tomorrow and not trying to defend for our lives. Great to see the 3rd and 4th seamers turning up.
