Bad pitch, btw. I am ok with all sorts of pitches, but this one is comparable to some of the exaggerated turners we have in India which we shouldn't roll out.

Challenging pitches are OK as long as they're not lotteries. This one is a bit of a lottery.

Yes it has been a very poor pitch. Of course not much would be said about this.

we just all assume the aussies will be cheating, so no need to discuss it.
This comment is in poor taste, if you’re serious.

Anyway, yes, it’s a bad pitch. Sydney has not proven a particularly reliable test venue in the last few years. Rest of the pitches have been great I think.

Difference is that the Indian team / media isn't mentioning it much, and the western media will ignore it. Double standards / pitch racism at its finest

The funny thing is it’s backfired on the home team more than anything else, it’s given the rest of India’s pacers a chance to get involved. A really cynical home team would have rolled out a flat deck to secure the draw and 5 days of crowd money. I’d be shocked if England see a deck like this next year.

Hmm not so sure - Bazball is lethal on flat ones.

You don't mention the wicket in a game you might win.

Really not sure a racism word needs to be thrown around in a discussion about pitches TBH

Precisely, pitch is perfect for us. Especially, since our batsmen are trash and would struggle on a flat wicket, too.

I have not seen any aussie media mention it. So not sure who the "everyone" is.

Saw it widely slagged on Twitter and on Comms. But for now everyone is just enjoying a dramatic match as they should. So it's not dominating the discourse.

I meant England won’t see a seaming deck that plays to it’s strengths, it’s the type of 50/50 pitch where Bazball’s clear headed approach makes a difference.

I think the Australian logic next summer will be flat decks and conservative fields, not Multan flat but flat enough. England will get themselves out through impulse/lack of patience, Steve Smith can bat forever whilst the England bowlers are tired out having to bowl everyday because England never bat more than 80 overs and then Travis Head can finish it all off.

If England keep their heads and just take what Australia give them in terms of singles rather than boundaries and they keep Atkinson, Archer, Carse, Wood and Stokes all fit for the entire series, then I think that logic could prove a little flawed. It’s a big if though.

It’s a shame cricket isn’t a bigger sport. The test series involving the big 3 have been excellent for many years now for the most part and as good as any sport.

This series has actually been just ok on quality but still been very entertaining.

Yes and this last year or so the rest of the teams have come to the party too. South Africa v Pakistan last week was brilliant quality and tension.

We all say it a lot but test cricket is the absolute best, a shame that outside of the big 3 the rest of the world is being forced away from it. I always enjoy watching cricket in South Africa this time of year and India’s last tour there was just for 2 tests! England are going there in Winter 2026 to only play 3 tests! It used to be 4/5 test match series.

The Australia series in Sri Lanka coming up should draw big crowds and interest to thanks to the WTC.

The thing india got wrong most is giving games to players in the year and bit going into this series. Allowing some deadweight batters like Rahane, Kohli, Pujara to hang around for so long meant they didn’t have a good handle of who has the skill at this level, nor did they give time to players who can develop that skill. There are some talented batters in the wings.

I think we got the bowling mixed up as well. Prasidh for example averages 21 in domestic cricket and needs more than 1-2 games. Mukesh who isn’t in the squad needed a longer run. The best 11 could well have had 4 fast bowlers with the 4th being someone who can bat a bit like Rana or Shardhul, as opposed to Sundar who has pretty much done nothing with the ball.

It kind of looks like we’ve had poor players but I think the blame for that lies with the selection and management. They may not be world beaters after Bumrah but they are better than what’s been on display.

New look squad coming to England then?

Australia have kind of done the same but it doesn’t seem as costly because their pace attack is very deep. India have clearly missed Shami a lot and they should have been more decisive with Sharma, hard to imagine many international captains surviving a home series whitewash, if he wasn’t captain I think they’d have dropped him for the last test.

The way I see it for England series:

Jaiswal
? (KL Rahul?)
?
Gill
Pant
Jadeja
Jurel (wk)
Reddy/Washington depends on the pitch
Siraj/Krishna/Akash Deep/Mukesh/Arshdeep (I really think a left arm seamer would give India another valuable angle as a pace attack)
Shami
Bumrah (c)

That 2nd opener and no.3 spots are tricky, a tour in England can kill your confidence there if you’re new to test cricket.

I think we will see more of the same. Agarkar has been a good selector but in Indian cricket the celeb cricketers come first, and everyone else after that. It’s not clear to me that Rohit won’t be on that England tour. Building a team takes a long time I think and we haven’t got any tests between now and England.

Jaiswal, KL, Sai Sudarshan, Gill, Rishabh, Jurel, Jadeja/Reddy, Rana, Prasidh/Mukesh, Shami, Bumrah

That would be my 11. We will get smashed 5-0 but that’s fine.

I think in some of the tests here we’ve over optimised for all rounders, and weakened both the batting and bowling. Need to leave some on the bench.

Agree on your point on Australia. I wouldn’t be surprised if they fall of a cliff suddenly in 2026 with so many old players.

No chance it will be 5-0.

Aussie media routinely mentions our shit pitches. In fact, our media is incredibly harsh on our cricket team in general. There have been calls at some point this series from mainstream media outlets to drop either Marnus, Khawaja, Smith or Marsh etc.

The pitch is being spoken about less than last year because the other 4 pitches have been great.

Like I said I have missed it but it doesn't matter. I don't like when the pitch becomes a talking point so I rather we focus on this entertaining series.

Today is going to be fun day. India have been overall poor this series. But even then they would have looked this as a missed opportunity to win this series. All they had to was play out one session last match and they could have won the series.

I still think right aussies are favorite. They would like to wrap India's innings under 200.

Hard to talk about targets until we know the Bumrah situation.

Just how crazy are these comments. Can't believe that the Aussies are the ones complaining

Yeah this is stupid. Wish he’d shut up. None of the players seemed to have a problem so why is the head coach fanning the flames with these incendiary comments? If Konstas wants to act a twat - which he’s within his rights to - then surely we can’t act surprised when the Indian players get in his face.

Agreed. I've enjoyed Konstas acting the clown, it's been good fun and got the crowd going - but then he has to expect it back!

(The Kohli shoulder barge was stupid - yesterday was fine).
