Cricket

Good day for Australia but still plenty in the wicket for the bowlers and if India’s other bowlers can support Bumrah they can get back in the game.

No idea what Konstas was getting involved for at the end. He made himself look a tit.

Didn't watch the day but it seems like the pitch was really tough to bat on and 185 might not be a very low score here

Konstas was being an idiot getting involved for no reason however Kohli was back to his usual self running in at the end considering he’s done feck all the entire series.

Kohli's crap and deserves to be dropped but he literally got a 100 in a winning cause at Perth. Also, again, the drama that has unfolded has been pure entertainment. Its led to packed houses which we dont often see in test matches.

Konstas has taken the instruction to be the new David Warner a bit too literally I think. Love competitive spirit but he needs be a little more selective in his chirping, comes with experience I guess.

Yeah the last over of the day isn't the time to do it. Its when you shut up and see out the day

It depends if we can find an effective pace attack for the series and a settled batting lineup. At the moment we have neither.
The players are there, just need everyone fit and healthy and the selectors to make the right decisions. England don’t have a Bumrah but I think they could have more depth to their pace attack. Atkinson, Carse, Archer and Wood all fit and firing, imagine that. Pakistan caused Australia some discomfort last summer and West Indies beat them. I’m cautiously optimistic for once.

I think the cause was already won by the time he even turned up on the scene.

Yeah he was being a twat but I think the intent was to prevent another over before close of play. All the chirping did ultimately mean only three overs were bowled, though Bumrah taking a wicket on the last ball made Konstas look a bit of a tit.

This intent probably causes more wickets than the theoretical ones it’s trying to prevent in the over that hasn’t been bowled, never understood the mindset of why a few overs at the end of the day are any more dangerous than the overs you’re going to get anyway next morning. Just end up backing yourself into a negative mindset for that period of play.

Yup. Don’t get the night watchman stuff either. There must be enough data now to analyse the value of a night watchman.

Nothing brings me more joy than the Aussies having a shit version of Bazball, bigging him up - and he's shit.

This is great bowling and some very ordinary batting. I can't believe what I saw from konstas, a test match opener coming out & just blind slogging on a tough pitch is just so stupid.

It's to early to judge but he looks shit. That first knock he had probably done him more harm than good publicity wise.

I am not sure about how good his technique is but in conditions like this you just can't try to hit every single ball. Aggression is good but you have to pick the balls to hit

Everyone that has watched him previously said he’s actually got a great cricketing technique, so this weird flurry of slogging is - supposedly - out of character.

His forward defence has an interesting simplicity to it. That's what I'm getting at with my his initial innings being a hindrance observation...

It's put alot of pressure on him and he's been acting the clown a little ever since

Yeah interesting point there, could be the case. I wonder if it was the same thought process as the first innings: pitch is doing a lot, bowlers bowling well, better to get out flashing than blocking for 3. I don’t like it, but at least the intent is there.

As an England follower I can't help but relate it to Bazball - the approach can work, but you've got to be really good at it.

Clearly England have been hit and miss.

I don't know how good Sam Konstas is yet.

I’m not a huge bazball fan, so I’d be a hypocrite if I started singing Konstas’ praises now! But tailored aggression, like everyone is saying, is only a good thing.

He’s a talent but he looks like he’s got some flaws he needs to iron out before he should be playing test cricket to be honest. He gives me a past-it Jonny Bairstow vibe to the one that comes back in. I don’t think I’ve seen him play a cover drive yet.

The dismissal v Bumrah (a great ball in fairness) in the second innings last test was classic Barstow. Good shout.

Smith is horrible to watch in my opinion, technique wise and also because it feels like I've spent thousands of hours watching him bat England into submission, but you can't deny he's an absolute all timer.

If India get Smith it really will be game on.
