Agree completely with the top bit. If our batting is that weak that we need to pay batsmen at 9 or 10, we need to change the batting lineup.

That's the point isn't it? There is nothing in the cupboard to change the batting lineup, hence so many bits and pieces to make it all work. A 50 here, a key wicket there, a run out, a catch, it all adds up in the end. I do agree that Curran is an unnecessarily cautious selection in the context of this game.

How did Hetmyer play? Was lovely to watch him play against India in ODI's. Ridiculously talented.

Dropped on 3, but was impressive from there. Very aesthetically pleasing, particularly when lofting the ball.

We'll be lucky to make 100.

Paying for the absolutely toothless bowling attack.
Agreed. You could see a mile off that they were going to pick a one-paced bowling attack with Curran as a spearhead. How much more dangerous would we have been with Broad in the side?

Do feel like it was a good toss to win though. Pitch is becoming an absolute minefield. Hopefully we can roll them second time.

Buttler and Stokes should go for this. No point sitting in because you'll get an unplayable ball sooner or later.

I meant we'll be lucky to get 70.

This is fairly typical England under Bayliss though. He seems absolutely unable to keep this side grounded after a good result. Can't wait till he fecks off from the test side.

Genuinely can’t believe this is my West Indies I’m watching here

Thanks mate. Can’t remember the last time I saw us bowl this well :D

I am equally happy to see west indies find a few batsmen here and there.

9 now. I wouldn't enforce follow on. What do you guys think?

Nah, no chance.

Only way England stay alive in this game is by Windies enforcing it and hoping to eek out some sort of lead for Rashid and Ali to bowl at.

Don't enforce. The only chance Eng have of winning is going in again, scoring 350 and bowling WI out. Pitch is only going to get worse.

England's chances are still slim, but if WI bat again, the chance is absolutely zero.

Had I more confidence in the team, I would have preferred to enforce the follow on. As we are these days, I would prefer to have a bat again and bat England out of the game instead of going for the throat now. That being said that’s primarily because I have such a pessimistic outlook on our team these days. If they do enforce the follow on I won’t be that upset.

Agree about Bayliss. We haven't really progressed under him.

But I don't think we've done a lot wrong today. Just caught WI on a good day in ideal conditions for them. Anyone who remembers Edgbaston 97 will know that even the best sides have days like this.

If you're bowled out for 70 you've always done something wrong.

I agree Roach bowled really well, but those were by no means impossible conditions. Just another example of this England team being unable to face remotely threatening bowling.

And as an aside, why on earth would you not use the heavy roller?

What's the difference between the heavy and light rollers? Been watching for ages and never knew this

Really happy that this has happened. England take the fecking piss with their XI. Sam Curran instead of Broad was such a fecking defensive pick.

Well weight, obviously. There's a worry that on dry, hard pitches the heavy roller can cause cracks to open up (although no one can ever recall it happening), but in theory it should flatten rough areas, make the bounce more consistent and smooth out the pitch.
