Cricket

I didn't expect much, but this is pathetic.

Yup, can't wait to see Amir either. Should be good

Amir has been Meh.

Was looking forward to see Abbas bowl on this pitch. Looks like a successor to Mohammad Asif who was a wizard with a ball.

Agreed, shame he got injured as he's been brilliant for us.

I'm hoping the recent rest Amir's got has done him good & he's back to his menacing best.

Did Amir bowl well outside of that one English summer pre fixing days? Domestic cricket etc.

There was an article from Jarrod Kimber suggesting that that summer, even normalizing for Amirs performance, was the best summer for English bowling. I don't remember if his methodology was any good but it was an interesting idea.

10 boundaries in 3 overs from Babar on Steyn  Got no clue why he is wasted at 6, you can't have your best batsman batting with the tail every game.

Never really saw him play before that England series, but just looking at the stats from Cricinfo & his bowling average was around 40 in Sri Lanka, Australia & New Zealand (compared to 18 in the England tour and a career average of 31).

He's still capable of a magical spell (Lord's this year v England & obviously the CT trophy final) but I think he's lot a bit of pace & isn't as great as he could've been but for the 5 year suspension.

SA 3 down, good stuff from the seamers.

4th now, huge wicket of Du Plessis

This is brilliant from Boult. SL have no clue what to do.

That review, fecking hell

Fantastic spell of swing bowling from Boult, 6 wickets in no time.

Just read Bancroft and Steve Smith interview. No fan of Warner as a bloke, but he's been completely buried by the Aussie teammates right now.

Smith looks completely pathetic with his "I should've stopped what was going on but I had no part in it" tirade.

Yh I thought that was strange as well, trying to wash his hands of the whole thing.

Why does it seem that every Test side except India rely on the tail for runs. Bowlers have to do everything these days. Proteas need to shake up their batting lineup, theyve been poor for quite some time now in that department.

Fully expect our batting to collapse once again. Great stuff from the bowlers though.

150 might be enough the way we're batting. We need to set up a GoFundMe account to pay for AB to come back.

Beauty from Rabada to get rid of Babar. Lead of only 100 with 5 wickets to go...

Just saw the Elgar non dismissal. Not sure how the third umpire gave it not out when the soft signal was out? No clear evidence to overturn the decision.

Weird stat from the game - it's the first time ever that captains of both teams scored ducks in each innings.

2nd Test in CT, Abbas in for Ali for Pakistan. SA have gone with 4 seamers, Philander in for Maharaj. SA have decided to bowl first. Don't see this Test going past Sunday.

Faf is suspended for the third Test at the Wanderers against Pakistan with SA having already wrapped up the series. Zubrayr Hamza is expected to come in for his debut in his place while Dean Elgar will once again be the stand-in captain. Some interesting decisions to make regarding the bowling, I could see them going with the 4 seamers again but the prudent ting would be to rest Rabada or Steyn and bring Maharaj back in. Big Test match for Theunis de Bruyn IMO, he really needs a score, if he fails again and Hamza does well, he could lose his place.

I havent been impressed with De Bruyn so far. He lost his wicket with poor shots in both innings at Newlands. Also an injury concern for Markram so the Proteas may have a significantly weaker batting line up for this last test

It's prob De Bruyn's last chance. If he fails, I can't see him going to India late in the year and the Sri Lanka series would be ideal to blood someone new.

Have SA fixed the match or something? Just read on cricviz that they've dropped 5 catches in this innings so far!

They're dropping everything, missing runouts and Dean Elgar's captaincy is just awful.

Well this Olivier fellow doesn't look any special but keeps on taking wickets.
