Cricket

What a game!!

Wtf was that shot?! All he had to do was block!!!

Test cricket, fecking hell!! What a watch.

Excellent series between the teams. Not a great deal in it, but Pakistan just edging it & deserved to win. A fitting send off for Younis & Misbah who will be greatly missed.

Batting is still a problem for us, we pretty much collapsed in the second innings of each game. It's going to be a big task to replace Misbah & Younis. Azhar played well. I hope we give Babar & Shafiq time & maybe look to bring back Sami Aslam into the side. With regards to bowling, Yasir was brilliant. I was very impressed with Abbas, has a nice bowling action & gets it to swing. Hasan Ali also looks to be a talent who can swing it as well & Amir is slowly getting better. Shadab is going to be quality, really impressed in the limited overs & he can spin it. Needs to get a lot of experience (would love to see him in the county game) but I think he's got a very bright career ahead of him. Misbah had a calmness as captain & that will be sorely missed. There's a few talented youngsters/inexperienced players in this team & I hope the PCB doesn't feck around too much or we won't see the best of them.

Always enjoy watching the Windies play & I hope they can sort out the issues between the players & their board. Fought well in the series but just 2/3 sessions in the games where they collapsed & gave the initiative to Pakistan. So close to getting the draw. Chase, Holder, Joseph & Hope impressed me in the test series - Chase in particular looks very composed with the bat. Windies have a solid young team which should get better.

Test cricket still the best format for entertainment & tension. Last 2 days were superb viewing.

Wtf is that shit?! take a selfie with the robot

Aslam is definitely better than MAssod who keeps getting opportunity after opportunity.

Windies finally starting to look like they've turned a corner. If the can get Darren Bravo back, they will actually have a semi-competent batting lineup and their bowling is the best it's been in some time.

Not followed this story in great detail, but there seems to be a big stand-off between Cricket Australia & their players. Players could end up going on strike, which will obviously be a big problem for CA ahead of the Ashes series in December.

It's basically that CA and players used to share the money from TV rights. The current proposal put forward by CA says that the board will not share TV money anymore. Plus they have also proposed to their top five players i.e Warner, Smith, Cummins, Starc and another, that they sacrifice playing IPL for the next two years to get some rest. The players have understandably rejected the idea.

Warner have also said that it's impossible that he'll not play IPL and board can't stop him to play another league.

For anyone who hasn't seen Gabriel's dismissal yet

To set the scene, there is one ball left of the penultimate over of the day, block the ball out and the man at the other end who is 101no has to see out the final over to save the test match

And then this

Ridiculous.

England 339 beat SA 267 all-out
Ben Stokes came off injured after bowling 2 overs, hopefully he's fit for the champions trophy

How have SA managed to lose this?! Choking before the tournament has even begun

This might be a good sign for them. They're normally absolutely dominant before the tournament (See the last ODI world cup) then proceed to choke when it matters. Maybe going into the tournament not in great form might end up with them doing better than usual :nervous:

Really clever bowler. There's absolutely no fecking way he's 18 mind you. 25-26 is my generous guess.

Is there any route to test cricket for him, that doesn't require him to almost single-handely drag Afghanistan there?

Actually came in to the thread to ask if anyone's following the ECB's one day tournament.

As a former regular at New Road, I'm somewhat despairing at the total Surrey have just set. Particularly Roy's sudden return to form.

Looks like Harsha Bhogle's back in commentary from the Windies tour.

Did you catch Essex vs Notts on the Friday? Probably the best one day game played in this country this summer.

I was going to go as well but tickets sold out before I got doing to buying.

Caught the tail end of that. I thought Bopara caught Patel (IIRC) on that catch that went to the 3rd Umpire, thought the front angle was clear but they only showed it once. Might have been my stream mind. Also thought Notts were going to throw it away at the end there.

Considering how Somerset pushed Notts all the way chasing 400 odd in the Quarters I think these last few games sum where the game is at now, no score is safe.

Speaking of Essex, surely the title is theirs to lose...

Still feel he is lacking a fair bit of penetration with the ball so this stint will only do him good ahead of the tests in England next year and the WC.

Depends how they cope when Cook goes off to play for England. I'm just surprised they aren't bottom.

Can Surrey win the Royal One Day Cup finally? Reaching the finals three times in a row is pretty special. Roy returning to form after being dropped from the ODI side for Bairstow might see the two of them competing for a spot now.

England against South Africa, in a 20 over match, starts in 25 minutes, if anyone is unaware (I was until around two minutes ago...).

South Africa won the toss and will bat.

Yeah interesting to see how Crane does. Surprised England have risked Wood though.

Love Mark Wood, absolutely box office. Hope he stays fit.

Yeah was just thinking he surely has to be a shoo-in for the 1st Test with Woakes still out injured, but then remembered this is the 1st of three T20s here.

Is Crane very highly rated, then? He's clearly not been picked on his career record in senior cricket.

Dunno. Might give him a summer before relying on his body to last a test?

Don't think England are desperate for options anyway: Broad and Anderson are shoo ins and then you've got Ball and even Roland-Jones who will do a good job.

Very, but tbf he's a young leg spinner, it's inevitable there will be hype about him.
