Cricket:India's tour of England 2011

Hopefully Tendulkar and Dhoni get a lot of bad LBW decisions go there way this series, nothing will change their mind more than that

I bet they won't.

Umpires without the DRS tend to err on the more cautious side so won't give an LBW if they feel there is some doubt. With DRS they know that the decision can be reviewed. In the last world cup if I recall correctly 25% of reviews were successful.

Now you might say bad decisons cut both ways but you have to note the Indian batsmen play a lot with thier pads and cover their stumps so tend to be more prone to LBW.

Just been watching Freddy Flintoff discuss overhead conditions and its effect on the ball...with Rohan(?) Metha - a NASA scientist. Basically there's no evidence that overhead conditions have an effect on the ball. It appears it probably has a psychological effect on bowlers (and batsmen too) and nothing more.

I really doubt that. If it was all in the head, we'd have evidence of at least a single delivery in India swinging and not one has out of the millions bowled.

It's not backed up with any scientific evidence though. This bloke has been testing the theory under scientific conditions for three decades and he's not found anything. It's still interesting nonetheless, for all we know it may have something to do with visibility. The ball is easier to pick up in bright conditions...certainly when compared to overhead conditions.

So is Gambhir.

Tremlett for England is also out, I think.

Well Jonathan Agnew is saying on twitter that Tremlett is almost certainly out, he has done his hamstring.

Tremlett bowled magnificently in the last few sessions at Lords. Would be a loss if he isn't deemed fit enough.

Tremlett's been fantastic since his return to the team, I'd have thought they'd bring in Finn for him not Bresnan.

Zaheer's a bigger loss than Tremlett.

India seems to be getting criticism over the lack of preparation and rightly so. No surprise that our two best performers in the match(Praveen Kumar and Dravid) played in WIndies.

100th away test for Sachin. He's played more away than at home..

Finn called up into the England squad, bowled brilliantly for Middlesex. Strange to call him up the night before the game, especially if he is not going to play.

Finn is a better replacement for Tremlett than Bresnan. Bresnan is more Anderson's replacement.

Always the same case. We land up with barely any games to practice for the real games and then take our time (naturally) to get into form. Zaheer not playing any cricket before the first test was another daft one.

All about the pitch and conditions
Perhaps it has some pace and bounce, that's why they've called up Finn, as Bresnan is definitely the next cab off the rank, but if they've seen the pitch and seen the need for Finn, could tell us a lot about the pitch

Anyway
Who will India bring in for Zaheer, Sreesanth or Munaf Patel

Being it Trent Bridge they might go for Bresnan. Trent Bridge really favoures the swing bowlers.
But Finn is more a Tremlett type bowler so I suspect they might want to keep that balance and select Finn.

I'm expecting Bresnan to be honest, can't see it being Finn
I hope though that Broad doesn't go back to that tall hit the deck bowler that he has been in the past, just stick with what he did well not reverting to what he/the management think the team needs

I thought we'd lose but I think we might surprise. Can't see our batting faltering twice.

I hope Finn plays instead of Bresnan. Bresnan will mean that's another tail ender who can bat well.

Cook, Strauss, Trott, KP, Bell, Morgan, Prior, Broad, Swann, Bresnan, Anderson

That's 10 players who can bat and Anderson's no mug.

Draw. Taking 20 English wickets us going to be impossible.

Gambhir's out of the 2nd match.

India win the toss and bowl, as in the first match. A good toss to win according to the experts, as in the first match!

 Praveen Kumar struggling to make the batsman play half the over at his pace is rather odd.

Not sure if Ishaant should be opening the attack. Sreesaanth is useful mainly with the new ball.

Big loss to lose Zaheer and Gambhir, especially as Sehwag was already out. 3 key players for us, but I'm really hoping Yuvraj Singh does well and shows his worth at Test level one again.

Bresnan has come in for Tremlett for England by the way.

Wasting the new ball.

Kumar is doing his usual 'pretending to be a bowler' act and Ishaant keeps bowling down the legside. Weird first 4 overs.

That was out. Looked out on first view as well.

Well done BCCI :)

Lovely ball by Ishaant. So much potential he has. Once he gets his line and length right he's very very hard to play.

Funny hearing Harsha Bhogle try and defend Harbhajan's test record over the last 5 years. He really is living off his reputation of 2002-2005 still IMO. Others spinners should be getting chances as well.
