Aldo on a mission to reunite team Australia of glory days. :D

MJJ has not been online on caf for more than 35 hours now. Not sure what do we do there? Would be too harsh to bypass another pick, he may never recover in the draft missing second and third pick

Give him the 12 hours. Or if someone neutral wants to take over his picks for now, we could look at that.

Good picks. Jolly bunch you've got there, IL.

Yeah. Not the nicest people around. I'm actually surprised that likes of Waqar and Walsh went earlier than these two. No disrespect though. I may be missing a trick in my head.

Still a couple of world class fasties left.

Waqar deserved to go when he did. Not sure on Walsh though. Quality as he is, Donald and Lillee were better.

Waqar at his peak was as scary as you can imagine.

I wanted one of those 2 but Walsh's record is superb and has longevity aspect to it so went for him ahead of those 2 and was hoping you would pick one batsman in your 2 picks so I can snap up other of those 2 fasties. Didn't turn out that way unfortunately for me.

Yeah, DD"s and Aldo's points taken. I like Walsh and Waqar alot. I just grew up on stories of famous duos of yesteryears (Won't name them given that a few are still available). My dad still raves about Lillee with people talk of Steyns and some of the others. He's even bought me this: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3882115-the-art-of-fast-bowling when I was a kid and he found out I bowl fast.

I think its this round in the draft where you can lose it with a poor pick. If you by chance pick someone who you fancy but most others don't you may get into trouble.

(Err which point did I make?)

I like my pacers to have bite and aggression, and both of yours have that in plenty. Walsh offers a completely different set of skills, along with his underrated pace. Waqar at his peak is in a league of his own IMO, capable of making the ball talk according to his wishes (and some sandpaper)

True and I think I'm one of those, I've gone my own way unconsciously, so hopefully I can strike some balance later on. I dislike Punter as much as the next person but few reached a better peak and a quality number 3 is a must in a test team.

Ponting was a no brainer. Should've been snapped up earlier, if anything.

So basically, I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow morning IST for my pick?

I have never played draft game ever before but I know that must be the case during voting. I gave serious thought to both Donald and Lillee but went for Walsh because of his record. 500+ test wickets for a fast bowler is something special and very few in future will achieve that feat. Anyway, i do get the point of likes of Donald, Lillee etc with the fear factor involved and their record is fantastic. Let's see how final composition of all teams look like.

For what it's worth my list for fast bowlers was

Akram
McGrath
Waqar
Lillee
Walsh

But really, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Yeah i'd rate your lot higher than Waqar and Walsh as well. It's a fine line though and there's still a few real quality quicks available.

Hmm...3 to 5 picks before mine. I'm pretty sure my number one choice will be gone so I better get cracking on a backup. There's still such an embarrassment of riches though.

That wasn't aimed at you at all, TMH. As R-I said, its a fine line and there's a few reasons why I picked those. I won't give it away now but individually, its always difficult to choose. In the last draft, I picked Umar Gul quite early (fourth pick or so) which fecked it up for me since no-one gave him as much credit as I thought he'd get. At this point, you can't win the draft since only world class players are being picked but you can definitely lose it.

R-I: Pick a back-up. I don't agree that there's an embarrasment of riches. Quite a few of the remaining quickies are a rung below even though records might suggest otherwise.

Twat. He was my first choice for the next pick to bring back together the Marshall-Garner partnership that devastated so many in the eighties.

You cnuts really need to stick to the players you've watched and leave the eighties players to me.
