Cricket Draft - Tests

Twat. He was my first choice for the next pick to bring back together the Marshall-Garner partnership that devastated so many in the eighties.

You cnuts really need to stick to the players you've watched and leave the eighties players to me.

I've seen enough from the 80s. It's the 70s that give me trouble - hence the PM.

 no chance he was coming to you

Actually, Marshall and Holding were better than Garner. Garner was awkward due to his height. I'd wager that if you ask people who saw them play, you'd come up with a majority who'd place him third.

Still a darn good pick, mind you.

Well he did go third - after Marshall and Holding - correct place to pick him IMO

I'd say that's right. What a pack it was though!

Me and a few friends were coming out of the night club at the Taj back in 2002 when we saw Michael Holding stepping out a cab coming back from somewhere. Obviously we were all slightly sozzled but I couldn't pass up the opportunity so I went up to him (trying not to look too awestruck) and asked "Is the entire West Indies team staying here?" He turns to me and in that brilliant Jamaican accent of his says, "young man, you may not have noticed, but i'm not playing for the West Indies any more." He had a drink with us and chatted for nearly 15-20 minutes about why West Indies doesn't produce quality fast bowlers any more and various other shit though it was about 2 in the morning. Brilliant character.

We should probably give him a couple of hours and if he doesn't come on, get someone else to take over management of the team. Missing two picks would be a disaster for a team. He already missed a fair few players.

agreed

Just talked to a newbie(The Regulator) and he's ready to take MJJ's place.

I think we should let him pick and when MJJ comes back they both can play in a team. The game moves on.

OMG Reg! I hope he doesn't have a specific draft lingo like he uses in WW games and which only he understands :D

Well.. why hasn't he picked then?

That's only theoretical. In practice though, the four of them terrorised world cricket for a decade. The fifth had injury issues, apartheid tours and other shit which in my book excludes him from being considered part of the pack.

I do talk with a few people more than others. I missed one pick as was flying home yesterday. And seeing as nm only picked four hours ago I had plenty of time for my third pick. So am out.

Fair enough up to you I guess. People get a little impatient in these games. If you'd messaged your choices or even let people in the thread know that you'd be unavailable for a while, we wouldn't have assumed you'd lost interest.

Hope you stay interested enough to vote in any case.

MJJ: If too much damage hasn't been done, would you be fine if you got to repick your two? Or has donaldo's pick really fecked you over?

If it's ok with the others you could pick your two players again. I wouldn't have expected the two picked by regulator to go in this round in any case, so shouldn't affect any immediate choices.

Think it should be ok since you were the original player. He can of course still give you his opinions via PM.

You'd also have one new poster you speak with more than others. ;)

 In that case I will stick with saqlain but replace gooch with akhtar. Only if he is fine with it though. If he doesnt want to be an AM for IL I dont mind not playing.

We can all apologise to TR. I'm sure he'd understand. Plus, I wasn't kidding when I said I need players to bounce ideas off of.

Update the list please, MJJ.

Good picks MJJ. Maybe my memory is off but weren't you totally batting focussed the last test draft? You've gone in the opposite direction this time for sure. That's a formidable bowling attack.
