Cricket Draft - Tests

I advised him against the pick...

Edited. He could pick Herath regardless, but Crappy's second pick was Jayawardene. KM didn't have a backup.

Yeah I considered Herath as well since he creeps in on the debut criterion. It's really tough though to respect a bowler whose home and away averages differ by 16 - 24 vs. 40. 40 is barely part time spinner level. With not a single game being played in Lanka, you'll have to consider his away average.

Agree. I don't think he should have gone there, but whatever. I hate you for taking Taylor. You ave changed the entire draft for me. I have a new plan now.

I needed a quality opener to wear down the bowling in preparation for my blockbuster middle order. Plus needed to give Marshall and Croft some effective slip support. I did have an eye on a one-down batsman but opener was higher priority. There's few decent ones left.

Nominations please!

Looking for as many as 12 teams.

Crappy - questions - do teams that advance get to pick players from other teams in the group?

Also why have the final at SCG and not Lords?

I guess he picked it since it's one of the few grounds in the world that offers something for everybody - pace, spin and some marathon batting. It's hardly deserving of the final though. I wouldn't even consider it Australia's best. Surely that should be Melbourne - 100k capacity, first ever test match and sheer spectacle. Sydney's picturesque but it takes what 40k (Edit: the Bible says 44k)?

I'd pick Lords for the history as you suggest.

Inzy was definitely more talented. Could play some outrageous shots, which I don't think Youhana even had in his book of graft and milk.

Yousuf was as much a stroke player. He was just more conventional in his play

What I meant was, on a scale of 1-10, I would rate them on par as middle order batsmen. Yousuf just fit my team better given that I need graft as well.

Since KM's second pick was already picked, he will get another 6 hours. Though it was pretty stupid of him not ahave a back up to Chanderpaul. I knew he would be gone in 1-2 picks.

KM's time limit passed, right?

Shall I make Varun's next pick?

True. I found that I preferred Yousuf in his early days. Was definitely very very talented, and didn't hold back in the early stages of his career.

feck off you cnuts.

Here I was, yesterday, worried that I might not be able to pick immediately as my turn comes as I was to spend 9 hours travelling. Turns out, it is almost 36 hours since my last pick and will be waiting for few more hours

Warnakulasuriya Patabadinge Usantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas.

Please tell me you had to Google that.

Year back, I was in Delhi for that ESPN School quiz thingie. There was a guy from Nashik who had the name by rote. Creeped me out because on the night before the quiz, his team didn't come to eat since they were 'studying'. Weirdos.

Haha, no I remember it from my quizzing days.

How far did you get in the ESPN Quiz? We won three TV rounds, lost in the National Semi's.

My next pick is Mike Atherton!

After the Delhi school quizzing circuit, ESPN seemed a cakewalk...some of those bastards from RKP and MIS knew enough to give me and my 5 successive generations a complex. When it came to useless trivia though, they were clueless, probably what helped us in the ESPN thing.
