Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather | Again?

As someone who doesn't know much about MMA and knows even less about boxing, am I right in saying the chances of McGregor winning this are roughly the same as a Conference team would have of beating Real Madrid?

It's difficult to say. McGregor normally blitz's through his opponents in MMA during stand up.

However in boxing no one really knows how he will be. He is technically poor by conventional boxing techniques however most are missing the point that he is coming in with a different skillset.

His odds of winning are low unless he lands some big shots in the first few rounds and KOs Floyd. It really depends on how his style converts to boxing and whether it takes time for Mayweather to figure him out.

Realistically he probably has less than 10% chance to win only due to his unorthodox style and size advantage

@RedRevongge

Oh yeah I get that McGregor's only chance is landing on big shot early on, I'm just not sure exactly how likely (or rather, unlikely) that is, given that numerous world class boxers have managed to do that to Mayweather.

I think they were saying he doesn't look so confident or something last night. He definitely believes he will win, if you take a look at his previous weigh ins and shit he's as animated as ever and he definitely believes in his chances.

It's crazy how big this thing is in Belgium. Our local Irish pub is staying open and a few hundred people are attending, while nobody here gives a feck about boxing or MMA normally. We usually watch UFC events with four or five guys and tonight we're with about twenty. I heard two middle aged guys around 50 years old talk about the fight in the store this afternoon.

It's mostly because of McGregor as well, since no one gave a toss about any of Mayweather's previous fights except for the Manny one.

We've no irish pubs here in Lebanon and it's an extremely popular event. Restaurants are sold out at 4AM to watch this fight, we've had to reserve at our 5th choice restaurant cause all the others are full. Had no idea Conor was so popular here.

Christ knows what to expect from this but I'm settling in with a beer and going to take it nice and slowly

I'd recommend trying Reddit tonight on the boxing "rivers" subreddit. Reddit is normally a good place for rivers.

Why is it so cheap in the Netherlands?!

Cant think of a big 'boxing' match that I have been less interested in

Thank goodness this is available for free over here. Will stay up to watch even though I have work in the morning. Anything but a Mayweather win is a fix IMO.

Have you seen the price in India mate? 1.5$. We really do get lucky with sports.
All sports.

Yeah but I imagine the average wage in India is far less than the Netherlands. I worked out that the minimum wage is about 8.9€ per hour so the price is less than one hour of work in the lowest paying job compared to the UK which would be around 3 and a half hours of work at the lowest wage to afford the PPV. Not sure how much $1.5 dollars is worth in India but I know that Indians would earn less than in Western Europe.

Also if anyone is Dutch feel free to correct me on my minimum wage figures.

Yep all that is true. But cable tv is still extremely affordable here I feel. Though it's rather difficult to explain things here as the disparity between earnings between different social economic ranks are rather huge. At least for the ones who would be remotely interested in watching this, 1.5 $ is nothing. 1/3rd or 1/2 of a movie ticket.

Things in Holland can be a little weird price wise, bit of a disparity between things. Stuff like clothes/food etc is usually more or less in line with other big European cities but you can also get stuff quite cheap too. I had an ex who worked in a cafe whilst at college and just on weekends I think she got something like 200 Euros for a couple days work alongside tips I think. Yet she'd always be out of money by the end of the month. Working in the north of England I could work all week for something around that much and still manage to save up for stuff she'd consider too expensive. Money management and different environments breed different social economic ranks.

So what's everyone's predictions for tonight ?

I want McGregor to win however I'm going for Mayweather to win by TKO with the referee stopping the fight due to too many unanswered punches. I'm going for round 6

Hoping to entertained. Strange things often happen but I can't see Mayweather risking his legacy just to make a spectacle of it.

I concur, although unsure of the round. Mayweather stoppage between rounds 6 and 10, for me.

How good are streams normally for this sort of event?
