Difference being that Mercer had to land that shot quickly before Silvia got hold of him. Conor will have 12 rounds to land that one shot.
Mercer was a world class boxer, though. McGregor isn't. He's facing one, though.
I'm not so sure he'll have the stamina to go 12 rounds. I think he'll need to land it early before he gasses. Gets tiring throwing punches and missing all the time.

Now, when you look at it from a collective standpoint, the difference is closer to a game between a league team and a union team because union teams will have a far bigger technical and tactical advantage when the game is played in their code.

If you look at Mayweather's conditioning compared to the Alvarez fight he hasn't trained as hard for this one.
That fight was four years ago.
He's not 36, he's 40. Also, you have no idea how hard he's trained. He's a gym rat.
You can tell by his definition and body fat. He is carrying a lot more fat for this one.
He did look a tad bloated but what can you expect at 40 years of age. Still looks in good knick.
