Who of Mount and Gallagher is the better player?
Half of this forum would probably say Liam and Noel are better players than Mount.
He's been good this season but I do wonder if he still keeps his place when Nkunku is back?
It's possible Nkunku will just come in for Jackson up front and we'll keep Sterling/Palmer starting alongside him and keep the midfield as it's been all season but another idea would be for Poch to go for a slight tactical switch and have Nkunku replace Conor as a starter instead, especially against the lower table sides who we've been struggling to create great goalscoring chances against. Having a midfield duo of Enzo/Caicedo behind say Sterling/Nkunku/Palmer/Jackson could easily be enough to dominate most teams in the league so perhaps we could go for something like that against the so-called 'easier' teams and then deploy Gallagher's engine against the top teams which has worked to good effect in the big games this season.

It will be hard to leave him out. He has been really good.
Hasn't he got the most assists for you in the PL? Not sure you can leave out your creative spark. It's more likely that Jackson will be rotated with him. You'd have the option of slowly easing him in.
I think that is the key, Nkunku will be eased back in. He and Jackson will probably rotate until we see Nkunku is ready to go at least 70 minutes.
Genuinely Gallagher is the one I wanted us to keep - mainly because he was more versatile and could play deeper if required. I thought he could be a great rotational option for a few seasons before he moved on. And he truly bleeds Chelsea so it made more sense. But he's surpassed my expectations this season and a lot of it actually has to do with Poch using him correctly and trusting him. Mount has never reached this level yet but ultimately I think they will share similar career paths.
He’s been really impressive from what I’ve seen this season. Reminds me a bit of a young Aaron Ramsey but with a little less flair
Poch is a terrific coach who is certainly beginning to get Chelsea playing properly.
And Gallagher is looking good.
Thought Gallagher was very sloppy in the first games of the season. Normally a leopard cant change its spots but you can genuinely see an improvement in his all round play now which is a testament to good coaching and the individuals hard work.
Well to be fair a lot are pretty useless !

Gallagher, Palmer and Enzo getting such rave reviews means there must be some terrible performers for Chelsea to be where they are in the table
Chelsea are struggling because of Jackson and Sterlings' woes in front of goal till the last week.
Statistically, they've been one of the better sides in terms of creating and defending. They have a lot to be optimistic about.
3rd in the table in terms of XG so they're creating chances. 6th in terms of xGA and 4th in terms of expected points.
Only Liverpool have hit the woodwork more times (8 to Chelseas' 6) and only Brentford have missed more big chances.
While I wouldn't say they are in a false league position all the metrics have pointed to them turning it around which it now looks like they are starting to do.

That or he can become a Milner/Henderson. Quite similar trajectories.
He's a young player with lots of experience. Under the right managers/setups, he can become a very useful player as he is now for Chelsea.
That I agree with. He's got an excellent engine and keeps very busy. But doesn't have the natural talent to shine when inevitably he ages. Still that's a number of years away. I think he's decent, not top talent but a good option for Chelsea.

To be honest Henderson especially had more quality than many United fans would wish to admit. Fergie wasn't wrong when he was showing interest in him as a young English player, he had something about him and ultimately he delivered for Liverpool.
Not great but a very good footballer, there's room for them in a squad competing at the sharp end.
There's no room for Gallagher's though, I feel like that's a very clear step down, and I'm not sure he's young enough or with enough potential to pull through. He probably should be at a Crystal Palace where he did well.

He was good today. Missed a sitter, shocking miss, but was good otherwise.
Along with Palmer he was one of Chelsea's most threatening players. He certainly wasn't the problem.

I think that's confirmation bias. IIRC Henderson was heralded as a young up and coming box to box athletic English player with a decent well rounded skill set but back when we weren't looking at a player's specialised attributes the way we would today. Klopp helped fine tune it and gave him the platform and the career he has now.
I honestly don't think Gallagher's attributes and performances now are any different. The money maker is whether he can find the team and/or manager to have a career like Milner or Henderson have i.e be lucky to have a manager like Klopp.
Yeah, the other week against Villa he was take the piss good. Must admit, thought he was just a bothersome Wylie Kyote at Palace but he's come on and easily worth 75 mill plus Martial plus the stadium.
Hard to predict.
Milner turned out to be a really high-level thinker who can produce in multiple positions and roles and systems.
Henderson I think was really helped by Klopp's system.
Probably more guys end up succeeding via Henderson's route of finding a manager that works with them than Milner's.

Exactly the sort of player Emery will improve given McGinn's excellent trajectory in last 18 months in how he reads the game and his calmness in possession.
Gallagher played 200 games already in his career, rarely injured and I liked what I saw from him in a deeper role in the run in last season so loads to like for 40-50m.
Really good signing for them if it happens. Not a showy, spectacular player but solid, rarely injured and contributes a lot

Errrmm Mount reach double figures for both league goals and assists in 21/22 season while be an absolute workhorse. Gallagher has been good and I'm a big fan but I don't agree that Mount hasn't reached his level.
Anything over £40m would be good business for us

Two years left for Doug so can only think we approached him about a new deal and he feels his journey with us is complete now we've made the CL so yes wouldn't rule out him leaving at some point in the next six months.
