Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

Neville against the sacking.

"If you give a 6 year contract, then you need to back the manager. The club needs to come out and clarify it. They need to reply to the rumours."

Funny how much different 9 months makes considering the kind of comments made early in Moyes tenure. Anyone remember the fake 'Moyes outs' during the poor pre season tour?
Yeah. Funny what 11 defeats in the league and getting knocked out of all cup competitions does for your perspective.

Neville saying that United should be different and that managers need time and that he worries for Moyes with the watershed in the press today, but maybe the club will come out and clarify it and maybe he stays.

Can't criticise Neville for sticking by his principles on this matter.

Neville, "Not spoken to anybody at the club today, they're going to have to clarify their position. I find it repulsive how these rumours start and spread. I've been associated with the club for over 30 years I genuinely believe he deserves an opportunity and time. Manchester United should be different." etc etc.
Bullshit. You're telling me he didn't pick up the phone and call his brother the second he heard the reports that Moyes was sacked? You're telling fibs Gary and you know it.

Gary is of course going to support Moyes with Phil being one of the coaches.

The awkward moment when Carragher cares more about United than neville

Entertaining? ENTERTAINING?!

Good God man. With the inept one in charge we've surrendered every ounce of pride left in our people. Our noble women have become whores, our children slaughtered in the night, we've been the laughing stock of the world 4 eva. God said come fourth, we came in seventh etc

Indeed. Very entertaining. it's only football, afterall.

God said come fourth, we came in seventh etc

Neville's right.

The club should come out to confirm something.

They'll be working behind the scenes obviously. Negotiating severance, short term plan obviously.

The fact that they haven't denied anything despite having ample time to do so is damning.

Carragher: Sometimes a position becomes untenable, that is what has happened. Same with Hodgson. Performances become so bad that this has to happen.

etc etc

The whole 'not releasing until NYSE isn't open' smelly a bit iffy. Done 5 minutes research. The NYSE own rules say that;

A listed company is expected to release quickly to the public any news or information which might reasonably be expected to materially affect the market for its securities. This is one of the most important and fundamental purposes of the listing agreement which the company enters into with the Exchange.

A listed company should also act promptly to dispel unfounded rumors which result in unusual market activity or price variations.

I suppose it isn't really news yet so they don't have to do anything. I guess if it was unfounded then there'd be an obligation to dispel rumours, which I guess we've done by denying that he has been sacked already.

A principle for the sake of a principle is pointless. Carra was right, there are other examples of a poor first season, but if there's no glimmer of hope it's pointless and untenable. Neville refuses to face the facts, Moyes is not good enough.

You shouldn't fire Hodgson so quickly. Roy deserves a chance, after all you are not Chelsea our Liverpool.

Oops, change Roy to Dave obviously.

People saying that Gary defending Moyes only because of his brother are twats.

He has always said that managers need time even before Moyes was appointed and he's still sticking to it.

Agree. Heard Ogden on Talksport-he said that the board made the decision after the Everton game. If that's true there are a lot of details to work out-which likely require lawyers. I also assume all sides (United, Moyes and his replacement) are working to coordinate their statements.

United's share price is down a bit today-no panic selling that would result in suspended trading.

I'm telling you, there is 0% chance Moyes has handed in a resignation. He truly believes himself to be every bit as good as the best managers in the world and as far as he's concerned he's not giving up his winning ticket.
Not if he's asked to by the club. It gives his CV a better look if he's handing in his resignation rather than sacked. It's a matter of agreement by the two parties.

Carragher is right in that Rodgers and Benitez were given time because you could see improvement and hope for future success whereas Hodgson there were none of those signs, it is the same thing here, our second half of the season form has been even worse than the first and from all reports the dressing room situation is gettiing worse and worse. Give managers time who you have belief in, not just for the sake of it.

I don't always agree with Gary but he talks way more sense than any other pundit - including that nonce 'handball' Carragher. He's emotionally involved on so many levels that he probably can't necessarily say exactly what he feels. And anyway, that badge kiss is particularly resonant this season - so I refuse to disagree with him (despite not knowing what he's saying as my stupid SkyGo won't work).

Basically just said that he was surprised the way the news has come out, it's not the Manchester United thing to do... Moyes should be given time to create his own team.

The only thing I agree with GNev on is that the club needs to come out and either confirm that Moyes is leaving or dismiss the rumours.
