Confirmed: Moyes sacked.

I can't believe we'll have a day of hype and it will amount to nothing.

We'll probably announce the Nike deal or something.

Jamie Jackson and Jim White going to discuss it on C4 news right now.

Oh where to start? UWS, Telegraph and a lot of sources ran with the 'Moyes to be sacked' story. Presumably having been briefed by the club. Then, no announcement from the club was forthcoming, then it was assumed due to the NYSE trading and any news having to wait after 4 PM EST. Another thought is United leaked the story hoping to pressurize Moyes to sell. There are a lot of sub stories like Danny Welbeck fake tweet which caused Moyes to resign, speculation on Van Gaal and Klopp, Bielsa to Marseille and Black extending contract with his current club. We still don't have a last word yet, but Talksport and BBC contacted United and they responded with the standard 'Moyes is still manager, won't comment on the long term as they are speculation'.

Apparently staff have been told there will be some news tomorrow, nobody knows what news. It could be the tea lady's retirement.
I thought the exact words were "Moyes is not sacked" (implying there is a chance he's leaving by tendering resignation)

Funny how much different 9 months makes considering the kind of comments made early in Moyes tenure. Anyone remember the fake 'Moyes outs' during the poor pre season tour?

Andy Mitten claims that the club was briefing the press today about Moyes' imminent dismissal.

Only person I feel bad for in this whole fiasco is Phil Neville. This is likely the second time he's being pushed out of the club. I hope they put him somewhere in the academy coaching rather than throw him out with the rest of Moyes' staff.
Phil Neville has been a great servant for United but that's all he's ever been and ever will. I'm sure he would do anything to stay at Old Trafford in some kind of coaching capacity but I sincerely doubt he's up to it. Plus, when our new manager comes in he's not going to want the class of 92' breathing down his neck every training session.

Phil should go and learn the trade somewhere he's more suited.

Mitten says in that interview that 'the club have been briefing that Moyes will be sacked'. It would be insane for United to renege at this point. The way the removal of Davie is being enacted looks like they want him to come into work tomorrow and hand in his resignation. There may be a stipulation in his contract that if the club want him to, he has to resign should he fail to hit targets detailed in his contract. It could of course just be the Glazer's trying to get him to jump so they do not have to pay any severance.

4pm New York time. 9pm UK.

People have posted and tweeted that no announcement will be made before 21:00 London time, as that is when NYSE stops trading.
Thank you. Why is not announcing news till the stock exchange closes a rule for manchester united? I have read quite a lot of breaking news of companies appointing and sacking CEOs and announcing new deals while the stock exchange is open.

Stock Exchange in closed today, isn't it?
It is open. I just checked on the nyse website.

Giggs and Gary as Manager/Assistant! Scholes as coach! Ole can work with the Forwards!

Joking aside has there been anything concrete behind this story?

After having the chance to watch Sky Sports...all they had to say was "DM "could" lose his job but the Club don't have anything to say and people close to Moyes says it is business as usual!"

Not sure that is worth getting too excited about for all the DM haters.

Ogden, ladyman, custis, mcdonnell, herbert, ducker all broke the story at the exact same time. That simply isnt possible without a leak from a very reliable source. They have later stated that the news has come from 'senior officials' privately saying it.

The wait is because the NYSE rules state that 'major' announcements (i cant imagine this isnt) cannot be made during trading hours. The NYSE closes at 4:30 US time, thats 9:30 UK time. Official announcement will be made between then and 14:30 UK time.

Its happening. No doubt bout that

Wouldn't worry, apparently we can't even announce something till after the NY stock exchange closes, for reasons I have no idea of. You don't get that many journos certain of something at once without there being substance.
Don't take this the wrong way mate but it was exactly this way when we had "signed" Ronaldo back. Wait until an official announcement.

That goes for all Moyes out people. The tabloids have fooled you many a time before. In not saying it won't happen, just err on the side of caution until it does.

He's got an eye for talent, he has a great football philosophy, he's amazing with the media, his players love him, he's taken Dortmund extremely far despite being continually pillaged and he's younger than the "young" David Moyes. He could stay for more than a decade.

Who'd you want? Who do you think is slightly realistic of that level?

I like Van Gaal as a shot term appointment. He's managed in Germany, Spain, Holland and at international level, won league titles

He's done, tomorrow should be another fun day in what has been a roller-coaster of a year supporting Manchester United.

What makes you say that? Not watching it.
Christ you are some pessimist if you are getting that from Sky Sports.
As I'm watching King Eric is on with his kronenberg ad so I'm saying its a sign and Moyes is defo gone.
Don't worry, he's definitely on his way out
Mitten, Ogden, Ducker and Taylor all reporting it like a foregone conclusion. I understand the scepticism just in case, but really, it's happening.
I do hope he's out, and obviously he could be. But remember, rumors like this spread like fire, and you often lose the source of it, which could very well be unreliable.

SKY don't seem to have any real inside info that support the sacking theory. It definitely sounds like the chances of Moyes getting sacked now less than the chances of us signing Herrera last Summer, and we all know how that turned out. (I was also following SKY in the Summer). There was a dinstict difference between the way they reported the Fellaini deal, and the way they reported the Herrera deal.

Right now it's jut like the Herrera deal, only rumors, and unreliable sources. No concrete info with high level of certainty. That's how it looks to me right now.

Can you imagine the atmosphere at OT on Saturday, everyone happy he is getting sacked to the realisation they are stuck with him. It might just be toxic.
That's a good point actually. Do you think there will be complete anarchy if Moyes is still in charge at Saturday's game? I suspect a very unhappy Old Trafford if so.

Andy Mitten says in that interview that Woodward told him in September that Klopp was a genius.

If the board have taken this decision, well done to them. I hope we learn the lesson and get someone experienced and proven in,

Can't believe there is anyone out that seriously wants Queiros, Klopp looks to be honouring his contact with Dortmund so Van Gaal is looking the best bet. No guarantee of success but he is experienced and has managed top clubs in the past which should be the standard for the job.

From what I have learned today, any news that can affect the share price has to be made whilst the stock exchange is closed. Maybe the other examples you mentioned, were announced the morning before trade opened but just weren't on the same scale as Manchester United, not sure.

Jim White on C4 News just said the press were briefed by someone very senior at the club, hence all the reports and articles being pushed at the same time.

Not sure that the stock announcement is creating the delay. See the NYSE policy regarding release of information.

I'm telling you, there is 0% chance Moyes has handed in a resignation. He truly believes himself to be every bit as good as the best managers in the world and as far as he's concerned he's not giving up his winning ticket.

on a budget less than Aston Villa. Liked that bit!
Whenever you think we're sh!T, just imagine being a Villa fan

THIS.

This man is more full of himself than Mourinho. It is just that he is better at disguising it than MOU.

Neville talking about it now on sky sports one.

Neville, "Not spoken to anybody at the club today, they're going to have to clarify their position. I find it repulsive how these rumours start and spread. I've been associated with the club for over 30 years I genuinely believe he deserves an opportunity and time. Manchester United should be different." etc etc.
