Communicado Official: Casemiro #18

They’re really pulling out all the stops aren’t they. I think I underestimated what a legend he is there, they didn’t even do this for Raul, did they?

There, in a nutshell, is the overrating of English players to a quite frankly absurd degree.

Who the feck who choose a guy who’s achieved absolutely feck all in his career over a guy who’s not only better at every aspect of football, but has the trophies to go with it?

I’m not from England, and am not prone to overrate English players. If Casemiro was 26, it would be a no-brainer for me. At 30, I’d take the young, up and comer, who I believe has his best football in front of him. If you don’t believe that, that’s ok. I don’t get the anti-Rice sentiment on this board. I’ve watched him for West Ham and England and think he’s a great, young talent. World class potential as a holding midfielder imo. He is also a leader of men, which this team needs for the next decade. I’m not bothered for people to have different assessments of a player’s quality though. Doesn’t hurt my feelings if you disagree, and I’m not going to get in a back and forth trying to convince you otherwise.

That being said…I’m very hopeful that Casemiro has another 4-5 good years of football. But can we at least acknowledge that there is a big risk taking on a player with as many miles on him as Cas at this price? Age does matter. Points about what the two players have done in the past are not irrelevant to the convo, but the question is what they are going to do in the future. Can’t write off age as a significant factor in answering that question imo.

Finally, I want to point out that despite being put in a position to defend the idea of signing Rice, my initial post was to defend the signing of Casemiro. If all things were equal, and Rice was going for 60 million pounds plus add ons, I would have preferred the younger guy. But at what West Ham was quoting, I will take the 30 year old Casemiro with added flexibility to spend on other positions all day.

Madrid already have a ready made replacement in the squad. Must be nice, United would dick around with glorified squad players for about 6 years before signing a proper replacement.

This is the biggest issue with this transfer -in that it didn’t really need to happen. At least not in this panic buy, probably over-paying manner. You’ve known for a while that Matic and Pogba were going. Did you really think Eriksen would be enough? The club got inexplicably stuck on FDJ as if he was the only midfielder in the world. In actual fact, it wouldn’t take top drawer talent to improve your midfield. They really thought McT was good enough, eh?

Rumour has it that Casemiro will appear on the pitch before the match wearing an ‘I Love Joel’ tshirt before playing an acoustic rendition of Give Peace A Chance.

Does it not seem a bit desperate from the Glazers to fly him in during the afternoon, right after his farewell at RM, just to try to head off the protests by presenting him on the pitch tonight?

The Glazers are playing 3D chess by unveiling him before kick-off.

Man United Spokesman "The Green and Gold scarfs thrown onto the pitch were in support of our new Brazillian superstar, who was unveiled before kick-off"
”The Green and Gold banners being used to slingshot rocks towards the exec seats represent the crispy green lettuce and melting cheese of The Burger King Trafford Stadium’s new official mascot; Wayne Wooney the Whopper.”

It‘ll backfire a lot if he sees all the empty seats because of the protest and says into the mic ”Bloody hell, they really weren’t joking when they spoke about this place being the Emptyhad! Where is Pep, anyway…………?!”

An unbelievable signing Casemiro is. Yes, we've all read countless times that he's 30 but fukk off with that. Carrick was still outstanding in his early 30s.

I love everything about this transfer so far. The way he speaks about Madrid, the way he speaks about us, the way Perez speaks about him and even us. He comes across as a very likeable character who is here to give his all on the pitch, exactly where we need it.

Usually, I never cared much for El Clasico, but this summer has completely pushed me to Madrid’s side.
